The original POP Fridge Swap! Planning moved to another thread - link inside!

Evening all,
Just arrived back this afternoon from our 2 weeks at the Pop Century, with a tale about the fridge. popcorn::

We arrived at the Pop at 7:30 pm on March 31st, and after checking in, I headed off to luggage services to see about our fridge. They only had one in storage, and it had no names on it, but when I suggested there might be a lime green mickey head on it....I was told that was it...and they would deliver it to our room. About an hour later, they delivered a rather battered box, with lime green mickey heads on it to our room but no sign of any names on it, and we had a fridge. The wrong one...it did not match the picture at all (it was larger and in rather poor condition (4 clorox wipes later it looked and smelt better.) :laundy:
Since we could not identify which swap this fridge came from we kept it for the two weeks, and sent it back to storage with luvtinkerbell's name all over it and the person at the luggage desk noted her name as well.

We did not link up with luvtinkerbell, as she did not contact me on my cell or through the front desk before we left, so hopefully she now has it. :rolleyes1

One not to add, there will always be some water in the pan underneath the fridge, even if the inside is completely dry and defrosted......a puddle on the carpet remains after we left


So let's see what happens with this one. The people at luggage services said that there were only a couple of fridges being swapped at the present time.

Sounds like they are well aware of what is going on and being very cooperative.



I am thinking if we sharpie marker the swap name on the inside of the fridges we can help each other out if one of them gets lost or given out incorrectly. I am going to put that suggestion on the master thread.

Just got a PM and our fridge has switched and is making the rounds with another swap, LOL! So I'm trying to figure out when is a good time to have the families on our swap and their swap switch them back. I'll keep everyone updated!
 
Oh and for everyone trying to get in on the swap - I have a lot of posts and PMs for requests that I'm going to go first come first served essentially and then update our calendar now that we know we have a fridge. I'll try and get it figured out as quickly as possible, but it may take a little time. I'll change the thread title so that the "going strong. . " is switched to "Calendar Updated" when I'm finished.

I'll try my best to PM everyone that's requested, but please check the list because I may miss someone AND I probably won't PM until after I have the calendar completely updated. So if you're added to the list, you'll probably see it on the first post first.
 
Just an update on the Pop Fridge Swap Swap :lmao:


I'm going to update the calendar with the requests I've recieved over the past month. Right now, we're looking at a gap at the end of this month that both swaps have which would make it easy to have the family from each swap leave the fridge for the family in the correct swap. If anyone has requested dates in that gap we may not be able to include you since we need to get these fridges back on track. But I need to look at the requests and make a final decision on that once I know what people have requested.


Ok, moving on. I want to preface this by saying that I don't want to sound like I'm ranting or reprimanding or anything like that. I take responsibility for not keeping up with the swap like we once were. Things had been going so well that I had hoped that people wouild be proactive enough to get in touch with each other, make sure they have all the necessary information from or given to other families, and that everyone who signs up for a slot actually follows through and takes part in the swap (or at least took the extra step of making sure the fridge got to the next family) We can really get a lot more miles out of this fridge if we all work together. I'll go back to trying to be superorganized, but I really do need everyone's cooperation as well. When things change on the fly, there's only so much I can do. So if you sign up, PLEASE make sure that you can at least stay in touch with us to make sure that the fridge keeps moving and we don't spend another month trying to figure out what happened. It just takes one minor bump in the road to send things spiralling. We've had a few over the past what, 8 or 9 months? Luckily we've been able to work them all out. But if we all spend a little time making sure everything's in order, we can keep this road virtually bump free.

And really, all I need from you guys is that you make sure the family before you has your information and that you don't forget to take the info for the family after you with you on your trip. At least full name and check in date. Not too much to ask.

I suspected that 'our' fridge was waylaid by another swap group. I am glad to hear that it looks to be back on track again.

I agree about getting all the info you can from both the people before and the people afterwards to assist the staff at luggage services. You should see the looks when all you have is the nickname......

I no longer need the frig for dates May 23 - June 1. We had a change in plans and we are no longer staying at POP. Had to switch resorts due to additional person coming.

I think this Swap is a great time. Hope it keeps going. Good Luck.

For anyone watching this, waiting for the list to be updated. . . working on it right now. I've now gone through all my PMs and all the posts and have a list of requested dates and WHEN they were requested. At quick glance, there are a couple dates that have been requested by more than one person. To be fair, I'm going to "choose" the person that got their request in first, regardless of whether it was by PM or post. I'll contact that family to make sure they haven't made alternate arrangements in the time we were getting back on track. If they have, I'll move onto the next family.

I'm getting ready to modify the first post right now, so you should see a completed calendar shortly. We also had a couple cancellations that will open up some dates.
 
Alright, I'm cutting the first chunk of the list off of the first post since it's not needed. . . but just like I did with '06, I'm going to post it here in the very slim chance that it's needed in the future.

OK, calendar is done for the time being. I was only able to add a few families. Quite a few of the requests were for dates that were already full and a couple of the open dates were requested a couple/few times so I could only get one family in. Like I said, if those families I added made other plans, I'll refer to my list and give it to the next family that requested it based on when I got the request.

Just an update. PMs have been flying and I think we're pretty much back on track. Between the two swaps, we've planned out a swap back to our own fridges, have info passed from one to the other and everything is seemingly back on track. Within a couple weeks, we'll have our fridge back in our rotation.

With that out of the way, time to plan out some organization. I'll be getting in touch with many of you very soon, just to gather info. But for anyone wondering about where things stand, I wanted to update you all that we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think we've worked out all the kinks.:thumbsup2
