The only thing worse than the madness of the grocery store before a holiday is.... surviving it only to realize you bought the wrong kind of cheese! Now I have to go back!!! Ugh. :sad2:

Or, as I did yesterday, forget to make sure I had all my bags and leaft my fruit there. Had to go back today to get it and 3 things I forgot. So much for being ahead.

or having to take your Dad there because he is without a car and doesn't understand why it's so crowded. ugh.

Ugh. I have not even made a list yet. I had off today, and swore I was going to get organized, but managed to find other things to do.;) Then I was going to do it tonight, but some friends invited us over tonight to play games, so we'll be headed there soon. DH is calling to see how late Kroger is open tomorrow.

Don't forget, we have some possible ice stuff coming through this weekend.. the stores are going to be a madhouse tomorrow. We're driving to Manassas from Baltimore tomorrow.. this should be fun.

Isn't that what the holidays are about though! Enjoy your time with your friends!

I still need to buy a pumpkin pie. :(

Which makes me wonder.... Why are the stores out of pumpkin filling yet they seem to have plenty of pumpkin pies? Hmmmm...

I used to work for a grocery and loved when customers wondered why it was so busy the day before a holiday. At least it gave me a giggle.

I am scared since I have to brave a store tomorrow for a few things that I thought we had but are out of.

I just realized I forgot to buy potatoes :scared1:

... and I need ham and bacon (double :scared1::scared1:)...

Good thing it closes at midnight. I'll be there at 11:30pm tonight, just before I wrap some presents.

I was way ahead of the game and went "last-minute" shopping yesterday only to find out that I forgot the potatoes for Xmas morning homefries. So... back to the store today, got the potatoes and a few gift cards, a little fruit just because. DD reminds me a few minutes ago that we only have six cans of cat food left:eek: Guess where I'm headed tomorrow?

Well at least you didn't end up with a $15 turkey breast when you specifically told your Dson-in-law no less than 10 times, "I need a WHOLE turkey that I can stuff - NOT a turkey breast.." :lmao:

You should be ok. I went to 2 different grocery stores today and neither were any more crowded than usual.:confused3

I waited until this evening to go, since I didn't get moving early enough today to make it before it would start really getting busy. I was shocked at home bare some of the shelves were. I need some sausage and there was only a few rolls of the really cheap generic store brand and few of another two other brands (one of which I don't buy because it is just nasty IMO). I guess everyone is making breakfast casserole with sausage in it for Christmas morning breakfast.

Now, I am just hoping I didn't forget anything because I spent enough on what little I did get to blow my entire food budget for a month. This was me when they told me the total :scared1:. But, we will be eating and drinking good all weekend. :woohoo:

Either...everyone is making their pies instead of buying them, OR as I read last month, there was a big weather-related reduction in pie-pumpkins this year. I'm sure the canning companies have contracts with farms, so THEY got all their pumpkin mush, but consumers don't.

By the way, if you do want to make one and can find some pumpkin, I've now made two of these pies and they are *delicious*. I've tried to use my mom's recipes (she made such good pies) and they have NOT come out.

I'm not brave enough to make my own crust so I've used the Marie Callenders crust, in Nov I got some big cans of pumpkin from Costco, and oh they are good. We bump up the spices and it's so good.

I can beat all of this. I may have to go to WalMart tomorrow! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I have to go to Costco. I was supposed to go today but got caught up in a gingerbread house and ended up covered in powdered sugar. And of course they close at 5...so frightened....

Me too
I avoided the Super Target and the Super Walmart & went to smaller specialty stores to pick up the few things I needed.
:)

I need bacon, milk, and deli ham... Thanks for pointing it out, I'll just stop at Wawa!
