The "Oh I Just Love It Here!" Trip Featuring "Besties!!!!" Nov.28 - Dec.2, 2008

I could not believe she would say that to me!! I mean, if she thought it and kept it to herself that's one thing...but to make that comment to a total stranger, a stranger who is somewhat overweight! Duh!!

Gotta be honest with ya LL, I am not a fan of Riverside! It is a beautiful resort but it's very big and confusing. But I know some of you like that....but it is the only place on property I have ever recieved truly bad service and had to go to Disney corporate...The front desk manager made me cry and it was my birthday - and not tears of joy! Walt would not have been impressed...and neither were the people I spoke to about it. But isolated incident I'm sure! I know a lot of people love Riverside and I'm sure you will too!
Yikes! That sounds like a crummy situation for sure.:scared1: I'm sure it was an isolated incident. I am a little worried about Riverside being so spread out, which makes me wonder if we should book at POFQ instead but I just don't know something is making me stick with Riverside. :goodvibes

We stayed on the mansion side of Riverside. I did really like that there were fountains there (I love fountains...:confused3 ) in front of the buildings. It was pretty and clean. I think that it was more coming from POFQ it seemed sooooooo big! We were essentially as far from any of the busses as you could get! And it was really confusing at night as all of the buildings look the same and it's really easy to get turned around. I have photos but I'm too close to my photobucket limit! Remind me later and I'll post them for you!

I'm totally excited to read about your report...YAY for more TRs!!!!! I really would love to stay at either POFQ or POR but it wasn't in the cards for my solo trip...I waited to long to see if I could upgrade and no such luck...but thank you for sharing your pics....can't wait to read more!

Thanks for joining! I'm glad you're here! :goodvibes

I'm not sure if I'll be doing POFQ for my next trip (which will be solo, whenever it comes to happen!). While I was there I told myself that I wasn't going to do it if I couldn't stay at the Beach Club finally....but I just looked at the 2009 rates and that's not gonna happen unless I meet and marry a millionaire in the next few months! So far I'm thinking I might try the Pop if I go with a value since it's the only one I haven't stayed at!

Wow, I bet that family was grateful they met you and you could clue them in about ME.

I am a research kind of girl, I couldn't go somewhere and not look into it. In great detail...:rotfl:

It always amazes me how much I still have to learn about WDW.

The last time we were there I was shocked at the number of people who didn't know how fastpass worked. I kept hearing things like "those people must have paid alot to go to the head of the line", "they are so lucky to go ahead in line", "why are they so special". :lmao:

A CM made you cry? What did they do?

I really don't mind that half of the people don't know about Fastpass, it keeps that line shorter anyhow! ;) However I did overhear a guy this year at DHS, at ToT, screaming at the CM because he thought he just had to show his park ticket to get in the fastpass line...people of all kinds I guess! I hope the family from the plane enjoyed their trip tahitian villiage! :) Maybe it'll inspire them to learn more about the place!

Oh that CM.... We were switching resorts that day and as we were checking in our dining plan info was completely messed up! Luckily, I am a planner and had all of my info recorded and all the confirmation numbers and everything ready to get things in order. Considering we were staying 5 nights we should have had 10 TS credits and he tried to tell me we only had 6...obviously that wasn't right and it would have been so easy to fix, but he was screaming at me telling me I was very wrong and shouldn't try to tell him how the system worked since he worked there and I didn't and blah blah blah....he was very very rude and it was completely uncalled for! The way he approached it totally took me off guard and I burst into tears...normally I would get mad, but I just cried. In any case I called corporate and it was all taken care of and I was given a credit back and a formal apology.

You have a good point, we'll keep fastpass our little secret. ;)

What a jerk, he obviously was not the most informed person. I'm glad you got an apology and a credit. He should be moved to the job of being the guy who cleans up after the parades. :rotfl: or maybe the bathrooms. :rotfl:

I was told he was "relocated to another position"...DBFF said in response "I hope his new location is outside the gates!"

Make that awe...wait for it...some!! :lmao: (Barney cracks me up!)

:sad2: The tahitian huh? Oh my, I wonder what would posess anyone to go to WDW (or any vacation for that matter) without doing any research, or even knowing for sure where they were going! I suppose that's why some people pay, what? $150/hour for a personal guide. DUDE, I would so do that for 1/2 that price! What do you say Stacy, you need a new job, want to go into business with me?

Consider that business started!! In the words of Neil Patrick Harris as Barney - "Suit up!" ;)
Everyone keeps saying that I should just get over it and move down there! However there is the matter of a working visa and a job and a place to live and all that jazz...:)

SUIT UP

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
love it!!! If it weren't for the little matter of a hubby and kids pretty well set on staying in Iowa, I would be tempeted to move there myself (especially when the weather is so awful here in the winter)

As I left off, we were heading out to the Magic Kingdom, and without even waiting, we hopped on the bus and were on our way. As we pulled up alongside the Contemporary I nudged Lauren for about the millionth time, perma-smile still in place going "Lauren...Lauren...there's Space Mountain...Lauren! We're here! Oh I just love it here!"

As we walked up to the entry way, there were not many people around. It was still raining a little but it was nothing to write home about. This was our view as we walked through the tunnel and up to Main Street:

As you can see, the rain had cleared whatever crowds had been there earlier! I was also getting my first taste of the Christmas decor! From what I hear it is majorly reduced this year but it is still very beautiful in my opinion. It doesn't totally overwhelm you, just enhances the spirit of the parks. I have only ever seen the holiday stuff in pictures or on TV specials so I was pretty excited!

We made our way up to the hub and looked at Partners and the Castle. I really love the castle! I think it is one of the most gorgeous things and I love the magic it stands for and all that it is an icon for. Which prompted me to turn to Lauren and say "oh I just love it here!" She just said "Ok! Let's go to Pirates!" And so off we went to Adventureland! But not before I snapped a quick photo of the Crystal Palace (I think this is yet another gorgeous building at MK...love it!):

Doing Pirates of The Carribbean first thing is a tradition for Lauren and I. But there was a little misshap on the way there this year. Alright...we came to Florida from nice cold Canada...I wanted to get back into my flip flops....it was raining...the ground was slippery and wet....and thus I slipped and landed squarely on my butt! :headache: Now, I should mention here that I had also taken a major fall with similar landing style in my driveway, on ice, earlier in the week! I was not only embarassed, but in some serious pain...
But I got up with a smile and we continued on to Pirates! I would deal with the pain later!

There was no line at all when we got to the queue which was fabulous! My inner Captain Fingerhook (my pirate alter-ego from previous trips) was emerging and it was all pirate-speak for the next little while! "Ahoy me matey Lauren, ye be getting on the ride with nooo linnnne...arghhhh"
I managed to get a somewhat decent picture (with no flash!! No flash photography means no flash photography! This is a major pet peeve of mine! Sorry), at Lauren's favourite part of the ride...:
012_12-1.jpg

Why you ask, does she love this part?
One line: "We wants the redhead! We wants the redhead!":rotfl:

From Pirates we made our way through Adventureland and over to Frontierland to ride Splash Mountain, then to Liberty Square for Haunted Mansion (my favourite!) - sorry I don't have many pictures as the rain had returned a little so I had the camera put away. Don't worry, there will be many pictures to come...I took over 3000!!!! I was a woman posessed! Anyhow, after we finished HM, we went into Fantasyland. I noticed there was a 5 minute wait for It's A Small World so I pulled on Lauren's arm and we got in the teeny little line (there was one other family waiting!). Now, Lauren hates the song! Hates it! Which inspires me to sing it loudly directly in her ear! I started in the line this year! Which led to this photo:
013_13.jpg

Doesn't she look pleased with my singing! I try to sing off-key to make the experience that much more enjoyable! Bratty I know, but it's fun! ;)

Here are some other photos from my favourite parts of the ride:

015_15.jpg

It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all...it's a small small world. It's a small world after all, it's a small world...;)

After this we made a stop at Mickey's Philharmagic and then at Snow White's Scary Adventures. It was getting close to dinner time so we headed back up to the hub and Main Street.
018_18.jpg

As you can see, the rain was still lingering, but the crowds were starting to come in for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that night.

But we had dinner plans with some mice and dogs and a duck, so off to the Contemporary we headed. And that's what will be up next for you all!
Have a nice night all! :)

Well I do have all of these suits now...from my previous job that I have nothing to do with! And if I wind up with the nanny job I certainly wont be wearing them for that! :rotfl:
"Hey Kids...let's go to the park - Suit up!"

I love IASW, I know lots of people hate it but it is a classic in my mind and the song doesn't bother me in the least! This is one of my favorite rooms. :thumbsup2

Me too! I think it is so gorgeous and sparkly! It sounds cheesy but it just seems so happy and pure...if we could all be like that....

Glad to hear you can spend quality Dis time at work! Yeah...Lauren's pretty cool. She puts up with my brattiness with a smile! A true friend! We've been friends since we were 13 so we just know what to expect with one another. We're very much like the Odd Couple! And I too have a library of travel guides, and my mum gets mad that I buy a new Disney one every year. I just get "Why are you buying that?! You could write it!"

Very nice pictures! Aren't those flowers across from Crystal Palace so pretty?

Yay MeMom's here! I bet you're really looking forward to your holidays! :santa: I really love the Crystal Palace! Not just the restaurant itself (which I do enjoy), but it's very pretty and the landscaping around it is always so nice! I have soooo many photos of it! Hope you enjoy your last day of school and your free lunch!

ooooh! A midnight ride on HM! How fun is that!? I was very impressed by the Christmas decor, which I had never seen in real life! People say its scaled back this year but I thought it was very cool! I've never been to Chef Mickey's for breakfast but I've heard good things! I love the parmesan mashed potatoes too much! :lovestruc And it is also a first night tradition!

I can just see a boat full of Marcettes all talking like pirates!!pirate:

Arghh! pirate: that would certainly be something to see says I! All hands on deck for the ride ya scalywags! Savvy? pirate: Now, where's the rum?...

Yes, going on Pirates first thing has always been our tradition, as well as Chef Mickey's for dinner. Really we're somewhat predictable...Lauren will always have the Mickey ravioli first and I will load up my plate with parmesan mashed potatoes! But you'll see that soon! Have a great day all! :)

All of us on a boat to see Pirates...now that would be one fun ride LOL!!!!! I could so picture it now LOL!!!
