The French Dip Roast was a huge hit yesterday. Its a really easy recipe that I got from the crockpot thread.

Eye Round
1 can french onion soup
1 can beef broth
1 can/bottle beer
*I sprinkled garlic powder and adobo on top too

Cook in crock for 7 - 8 hours on low. Slice roast and serve on crusty bread and dip in juice. I rubbed garlic on the toasted bread and melted some mozz. I also put horseradish sauce on mine.

*******
I made 2 roasts so we are having leftovers tonight. I may serve the beef with just a salad to make up for over eating last night...;)

Good morning!

Lauren - That French dip sounds great!! Think I could sub wine for the beer?

WFD tonight - Meatballs & spaghetti, broccoli and salad.

I'm making that tonight! My ds (age 10) has been sick since Monday (Mother of the year here I sent him to school, they sent him home:headache: )- I guess he got what I had but it seems to really be knocking him on his "tookus". We are going to the pediatrician again today because he has been complaining of "heart pain" since last night. I think he means his chest hurts, from either coughing or maybe he has pneumonia. He's been on antibiotics since Tuesday though. I work in the pediatricians office and I feel horrible for calling in three days in a row.:sad1:

Oh poor baby, I hope it's not pneumonia. Keep us posted!!

Thanks Kathy I will. It's so hard with him because he has other issues and I'm never sure what's going on with him. Is it his anxiety manifesting itself or does he have something:confused3 My first child was a cake walk, this one is doing me in!! :rotfl2:

Lindsay I'd love the cake recipe if it isn't too difficult. I'm not much of a baker.

Mermaid I hope your DS gets well soon.

Lauren the french dip roast looks good. I may try that for a football weekend. Thanks for posting it.

Tonight's dinner is Chicken Diane with roasted red potatoes and steamed veggies.

Morning all. Tried a new recipe and it was a flop. It sounded great--Pasta with mushrooms and Pumpkin Gorgonzola sauce--but it was just eh. Tonight gonna whip up some Zatarains Jambalaya--don't have the time to cook the "real" stuff

Mermaid--PD to your son--hope he's better soon. DD has come down with a terrible cough. My neice went to the Dr. (same one we use) yesterday for the same thing and she said if there wasn't a fever no reason not to send them to school. So, don't feel bad, DD is headed to school this morning--hope I don't get the dreaded "Come get your child" phone call

Hi Everybody!

I'm home and have only skimmed the past few pages, I'll catch up on the rest a little later.

Kathy- thanks for the update on Wendie. I am so sorry that the surgery was way more involved than had been anticipated, now her recovery is much harder.

Glynis- :grouphug: I am so very sorry. I have trouble at funerals in general, but funerals for babies are heart wrenching. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I have no clue WFD tonight. Kady's open house is tonight and I have no food worth speaking about here. I tossed the rest of the tuna this morning :lmao: (yes, he was still eating it)

I am sure that it will be fine. It cooks so long that you can't even taste the beer flavor. I am sure that you can sub another can of either broth too.

Have you tried this roast already from the other thread? It got rave reviews over there. I hope your son feels better and does OK at the dr. Don't feel bad, I have sent my son to school too when he complains of being sick. ;)

Love the stuff!

Hi Everybody!

I'm home and have only skimmed the past few pages, I'll catch up on the rest a little later.

Welcome home!!! I missed you and can't wait to hear all about the FOOD!!!!:rotfl2:

Thank you all for the warm welcome!:goodvibes Tonight I am going to try to make Tigercats COMPANY BEEF CASSEROLE....I was reading a few of the posts after this recipe and saw her advice that every recipe should include wine....I think that's some solid advice!:lmao:

I hope you enjoy it! Easy and Wine - my two favorite words.:rotfl:

This was horrible - John(Johnny's son) had made a habit of taking the baby out of the crib and laying him down in the bed with him when he got in from work(he worked nights). His girlfriend was at work and John fell asleep and when he woke up the baby was blue. Of course to this day he thinks he suffocated the baby but the autopsy proved it was not, it was SIDS. They have since had another beautiful baby boy.

 to John. I can see how that would just be devastating! How wonderful that they have another beautiful baby! Life goes on, doesn't it?

Tonight I am making black bean chili and cornbread. More comfort food!

WFD at your house?

ETA: Dinner with my dad last night went great, as I knew it would. Hee hee, he ended up taking half of the lopsided cake home with him he liked it so much!! I was thrilled he liked it so much.

If anyone wants that recipe (vanilla chip cake) I will post it.

Do you even have to ask!!! Of course we want the recipe!

I believe every word of this - except you forgot the morning diet coke. ;) But you have the right idea sister, admit nothing. Have a blast!

And just what do you think the communion wine is made from?!?:lmao:

Last night was pan sauteed chicken gizzards with roasted garlic chicken gravy, steamed green beans, and a red onion/sweet potato/mushroom hash with raspberry white wine vinegar. It turned out pretty good! I was going for fried but realized I didn't have oil and didn't want to go back out. Next time I'll add white bread to swipe up the gravy.

Tonight WFD- not quite sure yet.

And I like the new siggies but apparently I can't be doing the  happy dance:banana: for more than one trip at a time.:sad2: Held down by the man again!!!;) :lmao:

Oh, that pumpkin pasta is divine!!!! Hmmm, maybe I'll make it as a side dish for Sunday. That sounds great!!! Thanks for reminding me of it!

I woke up this morning, looked outside, and lo and behold, there's snow on the ground! I guess our rainstorm took a turn for the worst late last night. With that in mind, dinner will be something warm and comforting. I'm looking over a recipe right now for a creamy ham and egg casserole. Sounds like something my kids would eat!

Alan is working from home today, so it's nice to see his face as I work around the house. Hopefully he won't get in the way too much. Too bad we have to babysit a niece, or else I can think of a better way to spend our morning. Oh well.

Thanks for all your comments about yesterday. It's amazing how much better I feel after talking to all of you! I really appreciate it!
