Aimee, Have a good retreat. Hope Grandpa and Uncle are doing better.

Gretchen, Thanks for the recipe!

Mermaid, Glad DS does not have nuemonia (sp). Sorry the french dip did not turn out good. Did you add more seasoning like I did?

Stephanie, Have fun this weekend.

Gina, We love the rice/noodles in the package as well. I could eat the whole package and call it dinner. yummy!

Kathy and Gretchen, I do not think I mentioned the part of SIL not getting to the ceremony. My bro was really upset. They came separately since bro played golf where my reception was with my other bros and bils. She is late to everything by at least an hour if not 2...AND my brother cooks dinner most every nights and she makes productions out of everything...she is one of those women that is always so busy doing who knows what...My brother is the nicest guy you would want to meet. I think he is staying because of his daughter. This is my oldest bro (58...he got married late...his daughter is 8). I could go on and on but I will stop now.

I just ran to the grocery store and toys r us. With the biggest loser challenge this week I have to try new whole grains and eat alot of legumes. I am chowing down on a very big salad with lots of great stuff but I want to make a quick beef barley soup before I leave tonight. It will be good when my honey goes to France this week.

I am babbling again I hope everyone is good. I am sure I missed someone.

NANCY, how is your knee??

I followed the directions.... I think I just got a bad piece of meat. It was very tough.... that happens sometimes. I was disappointed to say the least.

Hi!

Lauren- I just read about your SIL! Holy Moly she is a wonder, isn't she? My SIL has a friend who is always late and leaves early because she must do it all :confused3 Her friends just accept it but I ind it rude. Keep up the good work on your Challenge!

Mermaid- Glad that your DS does not have pneumonia, but sorry that his asthma is acting up. The weather is not making it easy for people with breathing problems.

Gina- Welcome to WFD. I saw you popped in and look forward to getting to know you.

Aimee- I am so sorry about your Uncle and your Grandpa  It sounds like you need a break and the retreat may be just the ticket.

Gretchen- I :lmao: about the rice! I use the packages a lot, they taste better than the rice dishes that I make!

Well, I just got back from PT and my knee is much better. I was able to walk all week but I did take breaks, and I made sure to continue the exercises. I found out I have muscles tucked away that I did not know were there :confused3 but after the initial complaining, they are kicking in to relieve the pressure on my knee.

We had a great time on the trip. I don't think anywhere else would have had the food for Kady that was available in the World. She is not fussy about my substitutes for her favorite things and generally goes without, but the Chef at CBR made her waffles and pancakes that she wolfed down. I have to admit that watching her enjoy her first waffle since she was diagnosed brought me to tears. I have no idea if she will eat mine, but he told me the brand (Reds Gluten Free) and so I am going to try.

I was not able to take advantage of all that was offered at the F&W, the seminars etc are really not kid friendly and I wanted to enjoy her, but I hit a lot of the kiosks. That was fun and a nice way to try wines and foods I normally would not have tried.

The weather was wonderful and the resort was nice, the CM's all friendly, and Shutters was a welcome surprise. CBR is BIG though! We paid for a preferred room and it was the best money I spent :thumbsup2.

I would love to go back for Christmas but that little suggestion would put Buddy right over the edge. We are waiting for a proposal from the contractor for the room downstairs and he just picked up the wood we used on our floors so that he can fix the mess that the previous carpenter made. He did not give any price becasue he said he could not determine what he would find when he tried to take apart what the other guy built, so I don't dare spend any more :guilty:

Oh well, I will stop babbling and get back to work. I am going to my Mom's this weekend to help finish getting rid of her 51 years there. I am in a terrible mood and have promised my son that I would not go until he gets out of work because he is afraid I will murder my brother so if anyone will pray for Nancy's patience, I will appreciate it. I already tore him a new ear once today and don't want to say anything that will not be able to be taken back.

I ended up not making the ham and egg casserole last night. Aland and I went to a Chinese restaurant instead! Looks like we'll have the casserole tonight. Unless I can guilt Alan into taking me out again. He ate all my leftover Chinese for lunch today while I was out bowling. I was so looking forward to the orange chicken, but no such luck! Alan felt so bad, so I'm thinking that I could get some nice Mexican food out of this deal!!!

Go for it Girl! You have to take your dinners out when the opportunity is there!
I have been known to pull dinner out of the oven, tuck it back in the fridge when DH wanted to know if I wanted to eat out :thumbsup2

My new rule for the kids.... eat what I make or cereal it is. I'm tired of have 2 complete meals going.

Good for you! That's the rule here too, except instead of cereal it's slices of cheese. I think if they had the cereal option, they might never eat what I make!

I'm glad your son doesn't have pneumonia. Hopefully, the new inhaler will have him feeling better quickly.

Laura/Becky--Okay, so let's just say that the Indians just decided to give that one to ya'll last night. But we're ready for business and win that next game back in Boston! Go Indians! (don't hate me--DH is from the Cleveland area, would be a grave sin to root for the Sox);)

You know the Sox won't be pitching Beckett tomorrow, so you Indians fans have to be happy about that. There is talk of him being available out of the bullpen, reminiscient of one of the greatest moments in Red Sox playoff history when Pedro came out of the bullpen against the Indians. (Probably not a fond memory for Cleveland fans though ;) )

Speaking of baseball, these late games are killing me (although I'm hoping to have at least six more of them :thumbsup2 ) I have been dragging all day. If I was a coffee drinker, I would have had a gallon of it. That brings me to dinner: I have no idea. I am feeling super lazy, but I suppose I should get off the computer and go pull something together. Liam will be home from basketball in less than an hour, and he is a little wild today anyway without adding hunger to the mix.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Nice idea. I need to remember that.

Good luck at your mother's house this evening. I just hope you don't need it.

I hate being away from this thread for more than a day, too darn much to catch up on :lmao:

 to everyone with sick family..thoughts and prayers that everyone gets better soon

welcome to the new posters:welcome: stick around - you'll eat good and have a lot of fun.

There look to be some super yummy recipes posted in the last few days. I'll have to try some of them out.

This is so awesome! Glad to hear ya'll had a great time. And that you knee held up!

I know I'm missing lots of stuff; just don't have much time right now. Sorry for missing people :guilty: I've been super busy this week trying to clear my desk at work, then run errands, pack and clean house in the evenings. Tonight I'm picking up pizza for Friday Family night! Tomorrow we drop the fur babies at the Vet and then Disney here we come!! See ya'll in a week; hopefully with interesting stories and funny pictures that include lime green boas!!! :lmao:

I can only imagine how it must have felt to watch Kady eat that waffle.:goodvibes I'm glad you knee held up well, I was thinking about you. We love CBR and Shutters is a hidden gem IMO.

I WILL be praying for patience for you this evening my friend!

Speaking of baseball.... I am not and have never been a Major League Fan, don't know anything about the teams at all. I love watching high school and college baseball just never got into MLB.

OK, now Red Sox fans don't hate me for the sins of my family. Johnny & Kyle are die-hard Yankee fans.:scared1: :rotfl:

Nancy Glad your back and Kady got some of the disney magic. I hope your patience held out.

liamandcaili I hope the Red sox go all the way. I can say that with confidence since the Cubs are sitting this dance out.

Tonight we are having a ham and hash brown casserole. It is cold and yucky here.

Tomorrow we drop the fur babies at the Vet and then Disney here we come!! See ya'll in a week; hopefully with interesting stories and funny pictures that include lime green boas!!! :lmao:

Have a great time! We expect full trip reports and lots of pictures.

There's probably no hope for your DH, but maybe Kyle will grow out of it. ;)

If the situation were reversed, I would be rooting for the Cubs. There is an unwritten rule that if you are a Red Sox fan, you are also a Cubs fan. There are a lot of long suffering years in common.

Dinner tonight was gourmet all the way...not. We had Annie's boxed mac and cheese with corn added in to mine and Liam's, and raw carrots.

We had dinner at Shutters Friday evening. It was one of our favorites all week. The Chef came out and talked to Marisa and Kady, explained how the Disney Chefs prepare food and suggested that Marisa speak to the Chef on Saturday morning. The wait staff was wonderful with Kady and brought her decorated chocolate tofutti with sprinkles for her birthday treat. Now the night before we were at 1900 Park Fare and the CM brought her a cup cake that she could only look at. Not a big deal, she was too excited to eat, but the difference between the two was in the details. We'll be going back.

PS: I behaved myself tonight. Donny came by to help and there was one point he was looking around like he was Afraid.......really afraid.....:lmao:

There's probably no hope for your DH, but maybe Kyle will grow out of it. ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

zipuzee- Have a safe and magical trip!

I have no idea what Buddy ate for dinner, I think he had sandwiches. I had left over ham and veggies.

Gina, I think they are great, especially when time is short and I have to get dinner on the table for the kiddos PRONTO. I even served the roasted chicken with veggies (Rice & Sides) to my MiL and StepFiL when they happened to arrive at dinnertime. I always have plenty because as most southern girls know, I was taught to cook for "the man on the road", but obviously I would have planned something a little nicer if I had known they were coming.

Anyway, a couple days later my MiL called and specifically asked for the rice recipe. :scared1: Apparently, FiL kept telling her how good it was and wanted her to make him some. :rotfl2: When I fessed up, it was dead silence on her end for about 2-3 seconds and then she laughed so hard she started coughing. I told her not to tell FiL and he would think she had slaved over it. :rotfl:Gretchen
That is so funny!:lmao: My kids love the alfredo noodles.

I use them all the time for weeknight meals!;)
It's nice to know I'm not the only one!

Gina, We love the rice/noodles in the package as well. I could eat the whole package and call it dinner. yummy!

I was surprised by the spanish rice. Its been a quite a while since I used their spanish rice. It dawned on me while eating dinner tonight that the rice didn't seem quite right. I dug out the envelope and sure enough it was a mix of vermicelli (sp??) and rice. I didn't care for the mix...I prefer all rice.

Gina- Welcome to WFD. I saw you popped in and look forward to getting to know you.

Thank you, I am really enjoying reading everybodies posts. I am still a bit mixed up as to who is who though, I'll get it eventually.

Thanks to all, it's good to hear I'm not the only one that uses the convience type foods.

If you have the time go back a few pages(maybe a week's worth). Aimee did a little questionnaire type thing with all of us filling in our names, occupations, where we live, etc.

We have a big day ahead of us. We have to run by the church this afternoon and get our picture taken for the directory. After that, we are meeting some friends to see "The Nightmare Before Christmas" 3D. I can't wait! After that we are going to Provino's.

WFD at your house?

Good morning everyone! I thought since it quiet here for a few minutes I would type up Alex's first recipe

Pumpkin muffins

2 c flour
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 c canned pumpkin pie mix
1/2 c milk
1 egg
1/4 c oil

Topping
1/4 c flour
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp margarine

Preheat oven 425. In a large bowl add flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Add pumpkin, egg, milk and oil to flour mixture mix until moistened. Combine all the topping ingredients with fork until crumbly.
fill muffin cups and sprinkle top with the topping mixture. bake for 15-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Good Morning All!

I am still not all caught up and resigned that I probably missed a week :sad1:.

Today I am meeting my son and my brother to clean some more stuff from my Mom's attic. We did this 20 years ago and I cannot believe how much more stuff is up there. Donny asked me if this is what he will look forward to with me becasue I am a pack rat as well??????? It is kind of scary because I keep adding to the pile of things I cannot let go, although after all these years up there we are tossing 90% of it.

Then Marisa is picking me and Erica up for Kady's Birthday party at Build a Bear and then pizza at a near by Italian restaurant afterward. She is not going to have cake because Kady cannot have it, so ice cream and Tofutti for all!

Dinner tonight will be Pizza from Vinnie T's that we bring home for Buddy and Daniel if he is out of work.
