That wine sounds great! I'll have to look for it here? Reasonably priced Napa Cab would be a good one for my wine cellar! ;)

Actually this is a good wine for the ol wine cellar - it will age well - in about 5 years it will be perfect (if you can hang on to it that long!)
We are gonna get another bottle this weekend to age.

You guys are going to be seeing some different dishes from me thrown in to the mix in the next weeks. A friend of mine from another forum sent me a HUGE box of foods from New Orleans. Now I have all these different New Orleans things to cook with. I've got red beans and rice, some jambalaya stuff, all kinds of different spices and mustards, beignet mix...she even sent me grits! I think I am going to make a shrimp and grits dish like one that I saw on No Reservations recently.

wow - something to definately look forward to!!
I had a shrimp and grits that was to DIE for in Appalachicola, FL at a place called Boss Oyster. I'd love to try to replicate that dish - but I don't know where to start. It was a very cheesy grits recipe with ham and bacon and shrimp and chives. It was SOOOO goood.....
Think you can come up with something like that? Me and DH both would be all on that!!

THE TRIAL IS OVER!!!! Hooray!!!! DH will be home tomorrow afternoon!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? Alan just called and told me. I can't wait until the kids get home from school so I can tell them. They will be thrilled!

Thats good news!!! and :cheer2: and :yay: and :woohoo: and every other smiley that might fit!!

All this talk of mushroom soup, salmon & grits & gravy is killing me!!!! ;) I am really craving Grillades & Cheesy grits now!! Arrrrgh!!!

Piglet, Was that Edge Cab really a good price? About how much can I expect to find it for?

:yay: :yay: I can't wait for your twist on our foods!!!! Thanks to whoever sent it to you, wish I'd have thought of that.;)

This is going to be fun, isn't it? NOLA with a little NE tossed in :thumbsup2

Thanks for the well wishes, friends. When I called the ortho guy the receptionist asked my age and said: "Well there is part of the problem." I think she might be falling apart too :rotfl:

This sitting around is making me nuts! I'm not too good at it and have been trying to hide from Marisa but she called all day quizzing me, and then she checked the DVR to see what was left on it, and then found my book to see how far I had gotten. She is at riding lessons with Kady so she can't squawk that I am not sitting in a recliner :upsidedow.

I like gravy too, but only chicken or turkey--though I've never had white gravy so the door is open on that.

Tonight though, I think I am just making paninis so we can watch the game.

I missed this & had to go back to see how grits came up in the conversation! That will be so neat to hear & see your spin on our Nawlins food! :cool1:

Hersey, Grits & Polenta are pretty much the same thing. Ground white or yellow corn cooked with either water & or milk.

Glynis, Glad you'll be getting your hubby home!

Sorry Blond moment!:rotfl2: Of course I knew this my brain is fried from work today.

Nancy, Just keep sitting & thinking about strolling around Epcot for food and wine!!!!! :goodvibes

Alex just went to have dinner with his dad. I guess I'm forced to have shrimp and orzo by myself. Of course after I do some work on the computer I'll have a glass of white sangria.

Glynis, is Alan covering the Jeffs trial? I saw they came back with a verdict this afternoon after replacing an alternate last night.

Yup. That's the one. They came back with a guilty on both counts verdict!!! I'm thrilled because Alan will be home soon, and because the man needs to be put away! The whole situation is just awful!

The gal we had over when I made the Mexican Feast is coming over on Friday. She has the day off. We are going to hang out and she's going to teach me how to mount my Disney pins in a shadow box (I got a ton on my honeymoon and they are just collecting dust). I wanted to have as much as I could done ahead of time, getting the chicken marinating was one thing.

I will do it first thing that morning, then :)

Oh, oh, oh!!! When you learn will you teach me???? Alan has about 150 pins from the Olympics when Salt Lake City hosted them in 2002. They are just hanging out in a box right now, and I'd love to get them mounted in a shadow box for his Christmas present.

Just dropping in to post what I'm having for dinner.

Teriyaki broiled salmon, Asian noodles, and broccoli.

I'll have to come back later and try to catch up on the reading.

Come on over to http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1591930
and help me figure out what magazine to order from DS's school fundraiser.

Count me in the "falling apart gang" as well.:rolleyes1 Just try and think of EPCOT and be a good girl or we'll come a knockin!!

There's another mystery to that pecan pie recipe I posted the other day - I went to get a piece last night and it was gone. My guys devoured it!

I don't know why but it reminded us of Chinese barbecue chicken wings.

That's what it reminded me of too. Caili and I give it a :thumbsup2 . Liam, well, he never like Chinese chicken wings anyway.

Glynis, glad you and the kids are getting Alan back!

Janice, have a wonderful trip if I don't get to say so before you leave!

Oh, and for everyone heading to Food and Wine, make sure you get pierogi and kielbasa at Poland. It is delicious!

Absolutely!!!! She has around a million of them she has made for herself (I thought my husband and I were bad when it came to WDW). She is bringing a few with her. I will take some pictures for you and post them as well. It's the LEAST I can do for the jam!! :dance3:

Shrimp and grits is one of my absolute favorite dishes. I can't wait to see what you think.

Gretchen, DEFINITELY keep your ADR at Artist Point. You will love it! I have to give you a couple of recommendations. The smoky portobello mushroom soup is TO DIE FOR (if you like mushrooms of course), and the cedar planked salmon is also amazing. Artist Point also has an excellent cheese plate, which we sometimes have instead of a sweet dessert (with wine of course! ;) ). Plus, you can't beat the atmosphere at "The Logger," as we fondly call it!

Thanks for the recommendations. I love mushrooms and salmon so I think that will decide my order. I haven't been to the Lodge, but I'm anxious to see it. I think my Dad especially will get a kick out of the decor. This is the first trip we have been able to convince him to come on in quite a while and I have tried very hard to think of special things for him. I also have Raglan Road planned because I think he will really enjoy the entertainment and the scotch flight.

Well the kids wouldn't eat the pot roast last night.... so it's masquerading as "beef stew" tonight. :rotfl: More carrots, potatoes and then some DUMPLINGS! Oh how devious of me.:lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

We didn't make it out to dinner tonight. Kenny's Uncle started his drive back towards Maryland late this afternoon. So we had sweet and sour meatballs over rice and steamed veggies.

I adore shrimp and grits. I've only had it once and that was at a great place in Charleston.

We had Liam's Pasta tonight - yum! DH was very concerned about the lack of meat but since he finished off the bowl, I guess it was okay ;) He did think we should throw in italian sausage the next time. Cooking with brie was new for me and successful!

It worked on my 10 year old. The pot roast he wouldn't touch last night was devoured as beef stew tonight. mwahahahahah:rotfl:

The 17 year old is a bit harder to trick. Next year when she's at college I bet she'll come home BEGGING me to make pot roast.

Mermaid You are soo evil! :rotfl2: I love it. I wonder what will happen years from now He is describing this wonderful stew his mom made only to find out ..... Pot Roast..

Hi Y'all, I don't know if any of you are fans of Dancing with the Stars? We recorded the 1st show from last night with the women. ( Our Saints got their butts kicked again:sad1: ) Watched it tonight, I thought Jane Seymour was great! But I have a very serious major Crush on one of the guys, an Indy Car Driver & winner! I met him at an autograph session before an Indy race & he is just so cute & nice. If y'all watch the show & want to go vote for my boy Helio Castroneves, I won't mind one bit!!!! ;)

Have a good evening, girls!
