Thanks for all your help and putting up with me with all this wedding stuff.

Nancy, I can't find your post that told me where I need to go in Mystic...can you tell me again?

I am taking my Mom for a dress tomorrow. My Dsis told me to be very patient, which I tend not to be...I have to pray real hard for patience tonight...

Lauren-I love the wedding plans! Keep posting them, please.
The place is called Abbots and it is in Noank. It is a lobster shack and the food is really good, but really rustic. I'll see if I can find out more, I haven't been there in years, the time we went it was a disaster for my poor DH. Once again he came in second to cooked food :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Now as to you Mom, take a little step back and it will be okay. In the end it is just a dress.

I'm praying for patience for you sweetie, cherish your Mom while you still have her!

OK, here goes I think I can post a pic of my Baby boy Kyle and his Babe Abi:

Oh my gosh, what a handsome son you have! Abi is adorable and the make a cute couple. Proms and parties must be so much fun for you.

Oh, thank you Kathy. I do have patience with my Mom...I am just very stressed lately. She actually wants to wear something from her closet, which she has beautiful clothes but has lost alot of weight and nothing fits right.

Lauren, when my niece got married I took my Mom shopping and found her a beautiful champagne pant suit. Then my DD got married and she wanted to wear it again. Okay, it still fit and she looked lovely in it. Then my nephew got married. This is at least 5 years after she wore it the first time, and she wants to wear it again. My Brother is horrified. A little chat with my Sis IL and Mom is once again shining in her pantsuit. My youngest was the last to marry and he asked her to wear the "Wedding Suit". The only ruckus was when she refused to let me take it to the cleaners, :confused3.

My point is that Moms are eccentric and that is what makes them unique. Whatever your Mom wears will be fine because she is your Mom and the people who are celebrating your wedding will love and respect her if she showed up in shorts.

.

We went blueberry pickin' today, so we had a dessert(not usual for us!!)-vanilla ice cream with a warm blueberry sauce the owner of the blueberry farm gave me. I used sucanat(to make me feel a little better about it!), but it still was high in sugar! YUM!!

Lori

I have been whining because our BB season is not in full swing until July and I can't wait! We are just starting to see native strawberries. I can't wait until the pick your own farms open!

I have added your sauce recipe to my file. Thank you!

Today should be an interesting weather day  It is already very windy
Nancy Lauren Just in case you see someone with big hair flying by with an almost 7th grader it's me and Alex grab us. :rotfl2: as we fly-by.

Alex has finally said he would give shrimp another try. He did ask if he had to eat the tails :lmao: That kid cracks me up.

We will most likely eat something mexican (that's Alex's comfort food) he will be nervious today because of the storms.

I'll be on the lookout. I can sympathize with your Alex. We had some nasty storms Tuesday and Kady was a little scared. Marisa felt badly because she was at work when her baby was "hiding". I was like she is not hiding, she is just hanging onto my leg!

The poor guy across the street has not caught a break during this bout of storms, his finished basement has flooded twice, an he had to get rid of almost everything because of mold, and Tuesday a huge tree came down in his yard and just missed his house. It has been weird here.

Good morning everyone! :)

The Italian pasta salad we had last night was great! I'm glad I made a lot. I'll be having it for lunch. Instead of the Oreo milkshake, I made an apple cobbler with oatmeal. It was really good.

Tonights menu is crockpot bratwurst with peppers, probably fries, coleslaw, and that Oreo milkshake.

Lauren - I hope all goes well with your mom. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Actually, I was thinking of you earlier today. One of the girls in my office is getting married the day before you. She was stressing about the last minute details and I was thinking you are probably doing the same thing.

Thank you. :) :) :) Yeah, all the last minute stuff and DF has bee so busy with work that he is not much help...maybe thats better!!! ;)

Lauren, Good Luck with dress shopping for your Mom tomorrow! On the rice/birdseed, most of our Catholic churches here won't allow it any more, it's a falling hazard!!!! :sad2: But because of that, people have started have started blowing bubbles instead. It's pretty nice.

thank you...I'll talk to Tom about bubbles...:)

Lauren-Congrats on your wedding! Don't stres too much, I am sure you are doing fine, and it goes by so quickly. Enjoy it.

Thank you!

Well, I am off to sit in NYC traffic...:scared:

Tonight we will have left over meatballs and sausage peppers and onions...I have chicke breast defrosting if anyone wants that instead. I just bought Goya Mojo Criollo marinade... ...love that stuff! :thumbsup2

Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone! :)

The Italian pasta salad we had last night was great! I'm glad I made a lot. I'll be having it for lunch. Instead of the Oreo milkshake, I made an apple cobbler with oatmeal. It was really good.

Did you use a recipe? Can you post please? Thanks!

Morning everyone! :)

Still using what I have on hand. We're having Kraft Italian Pasta Salad. I'm adding chicken breast strips, pepperoni, tomatoes, and cucumbers. In the mood for something light tonight.

I might make some Oreo milkshakes for dessert. I'm just going to use up the ice cream we have, add some milk and crushed Oreos. Blend them all together! (I'll have to pick up some Oreos though sometime today.)

Hey, here's what I did. Nothing real fancy. Just used the box and added a few things, but it did the trick! Easy, quick, and tasty. :)

Lauren-Congrats on your wedding! Don't stres too much, I am sure you are doing fine, and it goes by so quickly. Enjoy it.

Lorraine Dawson's Blueberry sauce(Waldhiem, La.):

1.5 cups blueberries
1/3 to 1/2 cups sugar(I used 1/3 sucanat)
1TB cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/4 tsp almond extract

put it all in a saucepan over medium, to med-low heat, stir frequently for about 20-35 minutes
remove from heat and add almond extract, mix well(should be sticky and getting thick.)

She says to refrigerate, but we had it warm over the ice cream. I'll refrigerate the rest. She also says it will keep for up to 10 days in the fridge.

Lori

Lori, that looks fab. If I get the energy, I'm going to try it this weekend. Both DH and DD9 love blueberries.

BTW, I agree with Lauren, your girls are precious.

Morning all! Last night's dinner was okay, tasty, but nothing to write home about! Tonight we're having Sesame Brown Rice Salad with Chicken.

Oh, and I saw that the store is having a sale on blueberries this week!:cool1: Gonna have to grab some and try that blueberry sauce!:thumbsup2

Morning Y'all,

I am in shock this morning. Alexis asked for strawberries on her waffle. So of course that made me think of whipped cream on top. Had some in the fridge whipped it up & topped our waffles. She doesn't like it!! :confused3 I have now scraped off the topping & she still won't eat the waffle. I guess I ruined her perfect little toaster waffle?!

Didn't cook last night. The pool was finally warm & clean enough to go for a swim. Once Alexis got in, there was no getting her out. So dinner was order in spinach & artichoke pizza for me, & spaghetti for DH.

I'm going to do something with shrimp. I've been craving Kathy's grilled one's but haven't been able to get any big enough for grilling. So I'll use what I have in the freezer & maybe make a pasta.

Sheryl

Lauren -- Bubbles are really nice. Like Sheryl said, they don't allow birdseed or rice most places anymore. It's a mess to clean up, and I guess the rice isn't good for the birds. DH and I have some great pictures from our wedding of us coming out of the church with the bubbles shimmering and floating down on us. (Sorry, they aren't electronic, so I can't post.) Most party stores sell special packages of mini-bubbles especially for weddings. We dressed our little bottles up a bit by tying ribbon around them, then we placed them in large baskets at the church exit so guests could grab them on their way out. Whatever you decide to do, I am sure your day will be wonderful!

Lori -- Your girls are adorable.

Kathy -- So is your Kyle. What a cute couple.

Okay, so today, my dad is coming here to work with Liam on his baseball swing. Liam is trying out for a summer baseball league on Saturday, so my dad is going to get him a new bat (his old one is from T-ball and way too light) and give him some hitting tips. Liam is a good hitter, but he's been playing a lot of wiffleball and it has messed with his swing.

Anyway, after Dad's baseball clinic, we're grilling hamburgers. Then Liam has a baseball practice for his regular team this evening. Didn't I say yesterday things were slowing down a bit??

--------------

I have a funny story to share...we were on our way to the Pastor's house...about half way there...and I look down and notice...I had my slippers on. What a dumass! DF scolded me the whole way home...saying if he did that, I'd be screaming at him (we were running late to begin with). I couldn't stop laughing!

That is soooo funny!!:lmao:

Today should be an interesting weather day  It is already very windy

Have you tried the Velvet Shrimp or Emeril's Shrimp & Potato Stew recipes that I have posted here?

Thanks for all the nice words about Kyle & Abi. She will be going with us to WDW and I'm so excited - she's never been there. I get to see it all through her eyes!:cloud9:

WFD tonight is an EASY Tarragon Chicken dish, rice pilaf and lima beans.

Have a great day all!

the time we went it was a disaster for my poor DH. Once again he came in second to cooked food :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Poor Buddy:sad2: No wonder he stays slim-he's too busy chasing the food to eat it!

Whatever your Mom wears will be fine because she is your Mom and the people who are celebrating your wedding will love and respect her if she showed up in shorts.
I couldn't have said it better! I told Shannon I was wearing flip flops to hers next summer and the only comment I got was "Well, at least you'll be here!" :lmao: Where's the drama I was trying to instigate?!?

I guess I ruined her perfect little toaster waffle?!
Sheryl
Darn Freakin' toaster waffle!:headache: Did you try telling Alexis you worked and slaved over that and it would make you extra special happy if she would eat it? That leftover whipped cream would ony make it sweeter- kinda like candy!:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

They really are a cute couple Kathy. I can't wait for your WDW trip with her- it'll be a blast. Kinda like another kid without the labor, diapers, and college tuition!
How's Kyle feel about oldre women? If he got rid of Abi and I got rid of Rick I could go to Disney with ya! Just kidding Kyle!;)

Thanks Laura! I asked the Pastor what he prefers us to do and he said to do whatever we want. He said the stories about the rice being bad is a myth...I said still it would be a pain to clean it up if the birds didn't eat it. he said the custodian would use the blower...he is the most easy going guy...

I am going to go to the party store and see what is the cheapest!!! If I get rice or birdseed, maybe I will just put it in a nice bowl with a scoop and get cheap little containers. This way I do not have to package it...bubbles would definitely be easier!!! ;)

The kids pic is adorable!!!

WFD tonight is an EASY Tarragon Chicken dish, rice pilaf and lima beans.

Have a great day all!

All of you will have a great time!!!

Recipe please...:)

Recipe please...:)

Here ya go -

Tarragon Chicken

1 broiler-fryer, cut in pieces
2 med. onions, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 tsp. dried tarragon
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. each poultry seasoning and pepper
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. sliced or slivered almonds, toasted

I remove the skin from the chicken, but if you don't place chicken skin side up in a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

Sprinkle onions, tarragon, salt, poultry seasoning and pepper over chicken. Combine soup and milk, spoon over chicken.

Bake, uncovered, at 375 for 40 minutes. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and bake 10 minutes longer.

I was just thinking about our friend Glynis and hoping she's having a wonderful time.:wizard:
