Kathy, Did you run down to Belle Chasse for those? or found them at your grocery? I'm dying for some real creoles! They didn't have any at either of my stores yet. Your salad sounds yummy! Grab some vidalia onions for it & it would really be fantastic!

Actually I asked Kyle to stop in Belle Chasse on his way back from taking Abi home yesterday. He came home with 6 small tomatoes.:sad2: I haven't seen creoles in the grocery store yet. I did buy some Vidalias for my salad. :yay:

Saturday and Sunday is the Creole Tomato Festival at the French Market. 11-6 I think I'm dragging Rick down on Saturday.

Did I ever tell you the first time he proposed to me was over a plate of shrimp in a tomato cream sauce over angel hair? ;) This was on date 5 or 6. He actually asked after tasting the 3rd or 4th bite, "Is it too soon to ask you to marry me?" When I told him it was, he said "Just checking". I guess for him the way to his heart really was through his stomach. :rotfl:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Lori, Does that mean they have reopened the old market yet? I mean the farmer's market part not the flea market? Or are they still working on that? Do they have veg & fruit vendors there everyday again? I'm going look it up & see what's going to be going on there this weekend.

You don't know how right you are!!:lmao: :lmao: He didn't get the nickname "airhead" for nothing.;)

Kathy- Perhaps next time you tell Abi and she can help you out. You know he'd remember what she had to say.

Ah, the excess of young lust...er, love!

You read my mind. I told Johnny this afternoon I'll ask Abi next time!:thumbsup2

LUST - :scared1: , Who am I kidding, that's exactly what it is!:lmao:

Oh my, I'm afraid there won't be any creole tomato salad left for anyone else. I made it and can't stop picking on it!

:rotfl2: I don't miss those days!

Kathy, what are creole tomatoes? Are they some type of heirloom?

Nancy, it's the tomato which cherish down here! It's only grown in a very small area along the mouth of the Mississippi. It has something to do with the soil from the river. Kyle's girlfriend actually lives there. It's only about 5 minutes from Kathy about 20 minutes from my home. We only get the tomatoes during the summer & when they get plentilful, we can get them in the local groceries & at other roadside stands. I have never tasted a better tomato than a creole including all the fancy heirlooms I've paid big bucks for!

Ok you have me craving a tomato sandwich right now. Sorry I can't do NO in the summer I was down there once in August I thought I was going to die. My hair was never soo big :scared1:.

Ladies, you have my mouth watering for those tomatoes. A trip to NOLA and those amazing tomato sandwiches sound like just shy of heaven :thumbsup2

The soil here in the CT river valley grows the best strawberries in the world! I don't know why, but they are better here than anywhere else, so I understand how your tomatoes are superior.

Nancy - I'll bet Buddy would love a sliced creole on any sandwich you would make him.;)

I think of Buddy every time I read a great review of the tuna sandwich at CHH in MK. I can't wait to try it, has Buddy?

OMG Kathy- he would be in heaven! Some evenings when he gets in from the farm that is supper. We have some friends who have a farm in East Granby. They have an heirloom called Mr Stripey, and it is the ugliest tomato I have ever seen. When those bad boys are ripe it is not pretty here. Any manner and common courtesy are out the window :rotfl:.
