Because DD9 is non-verbal, it is hard to share the excitement of an upcoming trip with her. However, my routine is about a month before a trip, I set out one of the old planning books I have with Mickey on the cover. She will normally pick it up, bring it to me and tap Mickey's picture. I tell her we are going in XX days. We repeat this countdown every time she brings me the book. On Sunday, she came home from her boating/jetski adventure and saw the suitcases in the living room. She tapped the suitcases and looked at me and smiled. I think she knows the trip is close.
Sorry for the rambling

For those of you who wanted to know what is going into the basket or what the "Magic Shell" is for- this is what I have planned so far. (& it's not as dirty as ones would have you believe!)
I know he's out of cologne so I was going to get him something. And I have all kinds of skincare freebies from Clinique- so I figured a mini-facial, just something to relax him a little. And a recurrence from the trip we decided to get married- a hammock at the Poly during Wishes with some Rosa Regale and fruit. Anyone know anything about the "Magic Shell" ice cream topping? If I put it on fruit will it get hard? Thinking I could do that and it'd be ok in my pack from Pop to the Poly.
He's been a trooper about going back to work after Katrina and being gone all the time. AND he's not said anything about the lack of business here on my part. Seems he's happy if I'm taking care of him and Wanna B and the house. I just want to give him a little appreciation for everything he's done.![]()
Actually it is one less than my ticker shows, DH and I decided about a month ago to leave a day early and I was too lazy to fix it. We are leaving Friday morning and driving (about 7.5 hours) and should be in Orlando late afternoon barring any traffic. We are really excited about the trip. We are taking our niece with us. She is 7 and has never been. When I told her we were having breakfast at Chef Mickey's and gave her the list of the characters there, she told me "Aunt Gretchen, I've waited my whole life to meet those guys in person."We can't wait to show her WDW.

Gretchen,
You're going to have so much fun!Your niece is going to have such a good time & you will just love seeing her excitement! There is nothing like taking a child for the first time to Disney! I get choked up just thinking about our trip in January with my niece Alexis along! She loved every minute of it! Especially meeting the characters. She had a cold & a stomach bug during the trip & still she was having a great time. Sorry to go so overboard on the bragging about my DN! But just look at the excitement on this face from meeting JoJo & Goliath!

Brag Away! She is so cute! I don't know many thing more gratifying than seeing the world thru the eyes of a child and appreciating the sight.
Sheryl, what a sweet picture of your niece. I knew from your wonderful restaurant review thread you had taken her and remembered what a great time you said all of you had (and that she had slept through dinner at FF - as loud as it was when we went I can't imagine how she did that).
I am really looking forward to this trip and have planned out lots of "extras" that I think my niece will really like. She is really anxious to go and DH and I can't wait to take her. We are still keeping our fingers crossed that our nephew will be well enough that DSIL will feel like she can come too - not only because it has been over fourteen years since DSIL was in WDW herself, but I would hate for her to miss seeing her baby in Disney for the first time. We just keep praying and hoping.
Ed and I just took a half a mile walk.. I'm going to have a nice healthy dinner.. Grilled tuna with mango salsa, Baked Red Potatoes with sour cream and chives out of my backyard, along with some roasted brussel sprouts... I love Brussel Sprouts.

Tonight we had sauted tilipia with a wine sauce, mushrooms, garlic and sun dried tomatoes. Side of brocolli. You all inspired me to be creative.
