Tonight we are going to my grandmother's house for dinner. She is making my all-time favorite: HER beef stew and cornbread. Oh man, I can't wait!

WFD at your house?

I'm going out tonight! Going with my best friend from high school (SeaShelley) and no husbands or kids. :thumbsup2 Don't know what the family is going to have for dinner. We do have 4 kinds of cereal though.

Okay, dinner last night was a mess! I bought a new roasting pan at Costco and then misjudged how long to cook the chicken. Back into the oven! Now the mashed potatoes need to be kept warm....way too long! Then I boiled the gravy and it erupted all over the stove, the house fills up with smoke and now, on one of the coldest nights we have to open up all of the windows. After that I decide I need a glass of wine. Pull the chicken out to rest and pop the carrots and onions, which are still not done, back into the oven.... hike up the temperature and sit with my wine. You guessed it....charred veggies. Now it is almost 8 PM.

So......I'm not cooking tonight!

Nancy--Hugs to you for continuing to cook! After the first time I checked the chicken, I"m sure I would have given up and ordered take out!

Tonight is still a mystery. It's supposed to be a weekend of rain, so if I cook it will be comfort food. I got some chicken and stuffing to make. But I'd love not to cook tonight, we'll see!

nucpharm: I think I should have started with a glass of wine, I may have had better luck!

My kind of girl! :thumbsup2 Sorry it was a mess!

Easy and not too healthy night for me...hotdogs and some kind of sides...probably salads from the deli counter!

Have a great day all!

Nancy - our new rule of thumb is: The first ingredient in ANY recipe is:

1, 2, 3 or 4 glasses of wine(red or white) doesn't matter!
Proceed with recipe.........

Pizza night for us!!

Hey, has anyone heard from Glynis yet???? Want to know how the race went!:thumbsup2

Kathy,

I love your recipe! I think I am going to start that tonight! Good thing its only hot dogs...we would never eat! Nothing like a liquid meal!

I am eager to see how Glynis' trip went as well! :)

Oh my. I can totally relate.

As for dinner tonight - I have no idea! :)

Nancy & Lauren - I think we need to do all of our cooking at nucpharm's while the supply is there!!

By the way girls - the recipe may also be used on night's when you're not cooking!;)

Do you guys have a good recipe for meatballs (or what are the best pre-made meatballs?) and gravy (again pre-made or home-made). A friend of ours made meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes. It was really good.
The meatballs she bought through Schwans? They deliver to her place, they do not to ours, she wasn't willing to add an extra order for us. (I did ask--not sure what her deal is) But I would love to make something like it.

The gravy was dark colored and really thick and good (my mom would kill me-- ha ha, she only eats/makes light colored gravy).

Oh another one along the same lines, Salsbury steak. :D Anyone have a recipe for this?

TIA

I make mine with a mixture of ground pork & beef. I use eggs, parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, milk, salt & pepper, & parsley. Usually a 1/2lb. of each meat, 2 eggs, 1/4 C. Parmesan, 3/4 C. bread crumbs, 2 Tablespoons milk, & about a tablespoon of parsley.

Roll them in flour and fry them on each side until it is a rich brown color.

Does anyone have a really good burger recipe?

Also, I'm cleaning out my pantry and want to use a few things up. First up: chicken flavored Ramen Noodles. I bought them for a coleslaw type salad, but now I can't find the recipe. Anyone have a recipe using them?

Tonight is Creamy Italian Chicken. I need something quick and easy.

Thanks. I wonder if they sell ground pork at Costco. Is that a uber stupid question?? I have never bought it.

Can they be baked or is frying them better?

.

Not a recipe per se,but they are great with montreal Steak seasoning mixed in.

I'm going to make stuffed bell peppers today..My mother hates rice so I grew up eating them with macaroni in them, so that is how I make them now

We are having one of the Wife's friends over for dinner so I am making Chicken Lazone, Green beans and Salad with Sugar Free Chocolate Pie for desert... Here is my recipe for Chicken Lazone. It is great, easy and low carb, for those of you who care about that kind of thing....

Chicken Lazone
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
4 whole boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup butter, divided
1/2 cup heavy cream
Combine the seasonings and coat chicken breasts.
In large saute pan melt half of the butter and cook chicken over medium heat for about 7 to 8 minutes, turning once.
Pour the cream into the skillet and lower the heat.
Simmer for several minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens then add the remaining butter.
When butter is melted place chicken breasts on four plates and top with the sauce.
