Oh second question.

If I want to make buns for dinner... can I make my favorite bread recipe in the bread maker but do 'dough' cycle only and then take them out and roll them into 'rolls' and cook them in the stove?

Also at what temp in the stove do you cook buns?

Thanks!

Sorry- just saw this today. Yes, you use the dough cycle- shape them into rolls- let them rise again until doubled (about an hour) then bake them at about 375* for 20 minutes or until they sound "hollow" when tapped. I do this all the time.

I'm going to try that Velvet Shrimp right off..... dh and I love shrimp and I'm tired of scampi.

Headache free for 24 hours! YEA! My 10 year old most likely has influenza A though. Took him to the ED yesterday and we won't have those results until this afternoon. It'll be comfort food here today!

Tonight I am making homemade pizza. Simple, easy, and quick clean up. It will probably been Canadian bacon and sweet Italian sausage.

WFD at your house?

ETA: Premonition was AWESOME!!! You need to see it!

Lauren, glad to hear the party went well. Kathy, congrats on your son's team winning yest. afternoon.

Tonight's dinner will be some "plain food" for the kiddos. The dreaded tater tot casserole. I also made the chocolate almond pie for dessert (recipe here, not sure who's).

Gretchen

Making the Baked Chicken Reubens tonight (DH will be sans-sauerkraut) along with some Glynis Ranch Potatoes--told ya'll it's gonna be a DIS week around here!;)

Good Sunday Morning! The sun is out and it is a gorgeous day so I am ready to cook!

Glynis- I am trying your corned beef recipe for dinner tonight. My oldest son is coming to dinner because he loves this meal and I don't cook it often. I had to guilt him into coming though :rolleyes1, but I am not above it when I haven't fed him for a while!

Lauren- glad to see that the birthday dinner was a success!

Kathy- I keep seeing that shrimp recipe getting rave reviews, I wish I liked shrimp! The last time I made a dinner with shrimp I used frozen and did not know that I should have shelled it. My poor SIL almost choked to death because I guess he thought everyone knew so the shell just went wild! It has been shrimp cocktail here since then!

Mermaid- 24 hours and counting!

Gretchen- I made that pie and it was a favorite here. Between that one and the Derby Pie I was Queen in my kitchen!
All I need for dinner today is a head of cabbage and a nice loaf of rye bread and I am good to go!

Morning All,

Glad to hear all are feeling better! :cool1:

Leftovers here. Probably corned beef and cabbage on rye for lunch and Shepherd's pie for dinner.

Have a great day!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Nancy - you could probably use cubed chicken breasts in the recipe instead of the shrimp and call it Velvet Chicken!!;)

Baseball again today, so we're going to grill some burgers, and I'll do some french fries and DS's favorite mexican salad!

Have a great day everyone!

That reminds me, my son last time eating shrimp with a tail he ate it backwards. I couldn't figure out what he was crunching, since it wasn't fried. The look on his face  when I told him he ate the tail was priceless. :rotfl2:

I think today I'm finally going to do the grilled pizza thing.

Glynis--the French toast was Yummy!!!! I just had some more for dessert!

Kathy--OMG the Velvet Shrimp is to die for!!! DH said that it tasted like something you'd get in a restaurant--a real compliment from him!!! Thanks for the recipe!!!

Glad you liked the french toast! It's a nice treat, huh?

Have fun with the corned beef. Ours smelled really good yesterday. I can't comment on the taste as I had a migraine headache all day yesterday. I couldn't shut myself away, as DH was moving his mother and I had all 4 kids (plus their friends) at our house. By the time we ate, I was a mess. DH and the kids ate it and loved it. They did save me a small piece, so I'll have that for lunch. However, they ate all the cabbage. Oh well, can't have everything, eh?

Today is DH's birthday. He's requested pork chops, so I'm going to try a new recipe: honey pecan pork chops. They sound really yummy. I'm also making my fruited rice pilaf to go with it, and probably some steamed broccoli, as the kids will eat it without complaining.

I'm going to make birthday cupcakes. Since DH is doing WW, I'm making a white cake mix with a can of diet cream soda. I'll frost them with SF Cool Whip, and add some sprinkles to the kids. DH likes that he can eat one without ruining his point count. The kids just love anything that is cupcake, so they'll be happy.

This is our "birthday" week here. After today, I have a break until Wednesday. The twins turn 5 on the 21st, so we'll have a small family party that night, then their friend party on Thursday (that's more cake for us), then we're visiting my mother for a week, where we'll celebrate her birthday, DH's birthday and the twins birthday, along with my nephew's birthday who was born 9 days after the twins. I'll be SOOOOOO glad when March is over.

Mermaid, I hope that your baby is feeling better fast, poor thing.

Dh is working today, and ds and I are going over to my inlaws so my dmil can help me dye ds's hair blue, it is the color of his demo team gi in karate, and he has a big week of events, with a huge tournament ending it next sat. So the blue hair is to pump up the team, and freak out the opponents, lol, it is also permanent as he will be sweating a lot, and I don't need him turning blue as it ran down his face, lol. He has a high and tight hair cut though, so next hair cut it will be almost gone...................I always said as long as the grades were straight A's then I didn't care what his hair looked like...............I need to rethink that one huh?!!?

ANYWHO-----sorry to run off topic there...............what are we eating.....since we will be gone for most of the afternoon, I am going to throw the fixings in the crock pot b4 we leave for my homemade chicken noodle soup. It is cold out today, and that is soo yummy, all I will have to do when we get home is throw in the egg noodles for a few minutes and supper will be served!!

Well a Happy Birthday to your DH! Have you tried the chocolate cake mix with the canned pumpkin? It is like a fudgy whoopie pie in a cupcake and we serve it with cool whip free. I think it is 2 points and soooooooo good.
My sister is following WW and her DH is also trying to keep his points in order. Last week he was calling her to ask some important point question :lmao:, only one of a gazillion times he calls her, and he was over by at least 200 points! She was laughing so hard because his answer to everything is "Have a cookie....you will feel better." MY kind of guy! Now my DH can eat anything and can say no to apple pie so when he told me I may end up looking like a cheesy poof if I kept snacking on the big barrel that HE bought I was thinking of ways to torment him for months! No sympathy from him! Just thinking of it is getting me thinking of foods he hates for another week :thumbsup2.

Kathy- I am going to try that recipe with chicken. I always sub chicken for shrimp in my scampi so why not in your velvet shrimp?

Today we are just going to go out. We are going to go to subway, I think.

I am in need of a 6 inch Veggie Sub on Wheat. My favorite

I don't have that cake recipe. I'd love it, though, if you wouldn't mind posting it!!!

Hello, everyone. Tonight we'll be having chicken and dressing-I am going to make a pan of dressing with pieces of chicken baked in. My husband's aunt always makes her dressing with meat in it, even if she's serving it with turkey, but the chicken in the dressing will be our meat tonight. With it I will make mashed potatoes, gravy, and some kind of green vegetable, probably green beans. Dessert will be Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies-it will be my first try with those. Off to start a pan of cornbread for the dressing as soon as my last load of laundry is dry and folded. Hope everyone has a good day!

Tonight will be a simple roast chicken with salad and corn on the cob!!! If we get all the yard work done we need to do...if not take out!!!
