Anyone notice a lot of walking of reservations? Seems unnecessary for anything but a 1 bed at VDH. Are there a lot of VDH reservations showing up on rental sites? With so few owners, it just seems weird.

It’s because the next D23 was announced for August 13-16, 2026. It will stop after we pass those dates.

I was just curious if people had noticed it otherwise. I haven’t booked at VDH since last year.

Am I reading the transient tax chart correctly? If I stay in a 2 bedroom I will have to pay an additional $125ish to $250ish depending on the dates per night? Or is that for the week?

You're reading it correctly, 2025 Transient Tax is $123.37 - $263.94 per night at VDH for a 2BR. 2024 just slightly lower.

I know it's probably a me problem, but I didn't know about this tax until after I booked and started coming here. Going back to the member booking engine now, I can see there is a disclaimer, that you have to click, and even then it doesn't tell you how much the tax will be. Not a fan of that.

If you look at the DVC point chart page, it has charts for the ToT at VDH. I do wish they told you the number when you complete the booking because there is some sticker shock on the larger rooms.

That would be a good idea. Those who have been to Aulani may have those figures in their head, but my 300 point Aulani stay last summer cost me $215 in TOT whereas it would be almost $900 at VDH.

Edit- Holy smokes. It’s me. I’m that person. I knew it was high…but maybe hadn’t exactly looked it up. My three night studio April stay will also be about $215, which was my week long, island view one bedroom in July (the highest season) at Aulani.

I think they’re afraid you won’t book if they tell you the number! So they just tell you the per-point TOT and let you run it up on your calculator, if you want to.

From a compliance perspective there is more risk if the exact tax was inaccurate. Putting a disclosure and then referring to a pdf carries less liability.

Yeah, I clicked through and did the math. Just added an extra $384 to my trip. You have to click around a bit to get there, then figure it out on your own. Borders on dishonest, IMO.

The first version was calculating points wrong and needed me to point out the difference between Sun-Thu (weekday) and Fri-Sat (weekend) point cost.

There was also a problem with the “submit” button so Manus had to scrap the entire version cuz it couldn’t get it to work.

It then rebuilt the calculator to execute the calculation as soon as enough info was entered.

I hope many try it for their upcoming reservations this xmas season! The more who use it the better to work out any residual bugs.

We went to the Welcome Home Update this morning and they said if you want to see the Grand Ville, the DVC sales people will have access to one to show on 9/24-26. So, if you are there in that time frame and are interested, go and have a look. It sounds gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing. If we were there, we'd definitely make time to see one. Those 3BR VDH villas are booked all the time.

Age old VDH owner question, how many rooms have been declared? I entered my question to Co-Pilot and got an answer of 61 out of 344 total rooms (18%).

Duo Studios: 8
Dedicated Studios: 48
Dedicated One-Bedroom Villa: 1
Lockoff Two-Bedroom Villa: 1
Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas: 2
Grand Villa: 1

First declaration in 2023 with no second. Dues were increased anticipating 72 homes, but no second declaration made.

Seems rather low to me. Making this observations while looking at May 2026 booking and slim picken's for any bedroom units.

Funny thing. I was just thinking I haven't been on the board in quite some time.... Work has kept me very busy.

I'm not sure the exact ask but some homework says the following -

Looks like we can book up to 9 standard of these + 1 hearing accessible + 1 wheelchair accessible.

Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas: 2

Looks like we can book up to 9 standard of these + 1 hearing accessible + 1 wheelchair accessible.

So it looks like the tower is about half issued/allocated at this point. Perhaps it's selling better than we are thinking

It sounds gorgeous!

It's a great room to have a party in but not great to live in for more than a few days. The storage in the master is abysmal. Luckily the bathroom is so huge I may just by a old school folding clothes rack and put my clothes in there if we stay in the 3BR at VDH for more than a few days.

You can use the built in development tools in the web browser to see the number of open rooms still available and by going to the last date on the calendar and booking seven days out it’s a safe bet that the returned value is the count.

I’d say my values should be double checked over a few weeks and I may try and do so. Trying to calculate the studios would be more difficult. I’m also somewhat more confident in the estimate based on the consistency of the data between the one and two bedrooms and I believe it’s in a somewhat high point season so not as likely that someone would be locking those rooms for 7 nights.

Yes this how you do it but the method does vary from browser to browser. Can do it on just about any desktop browser or a Chromebook but I wasn’t able to get this to work on an iPad Pro. I think there are tools that can do it on iOS but too much work for me.
