"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

Where does Bill get his money from? Or furthermore, where do most of the vampires get their money from, especially the really old ones? I know Eric owns that bar, right?

The older they are the richer they are generally. Traditionally vampires love the finer things in life and need luxury to "hide" ala movies/tv.

Anne Rice was the writer to introduce the world to luxury/modern vamps. I consider LeStat to be the beginning of the modern vamp.

Now they can steal, glamour, read minds, sneak around, etc...Mostly they invest in properties and businesses.

If you go back to Bram Stoker, Dracula hires people to handle his affairs. They have lackies to do their bidding, like the old movies where you have the "caretaker". Not glam, but still have to have money, think "Salem's Lot".

Now if you are going modern vamps, like "Moonlight", you will find a mix of average and the luxury vamp.

They don't "need" money really but some like to be flashy. I think you see a wonderful mix with True Blood, the flashy and the hidden. It is done well.

I think the reason they are making look Bill look so bad and haggard at the end of this season is .. well .. Bill is going to be cast into an unfavorable light and he'll be the guy on the "outs" and we'll be drawn to Eric more.

As far as vampires getting money, I think in the book it was explained that some of them work and some of them just "glamour" for cars, money, etc.

I totally agree! I definitely think thats where its going.

Ok for those of you who have read the books..(now im going to try not to give anything away, would want to get others angry..lol) We know the story with Lorena and what she and Bill were up to ..obviously that stoy isn't going to happen on True Blood, but now they are bringing in the Queen much earlier than in the books..do you think it is possible that they will make her the one putting Bill up to it??? Geez i hope you understand what i am trying to say (again without giving any details for those of you who haven't read the books). I was thinking about this last week.....i mean it is a MAJOR turning point on the story.

you mean with Sookie??? wasn't the Queen behind it the whole time in the books? I believe Eric said that the Queen put him(Bill) up to it all because she wanted Sookie for Louisiana.

That's what I remember, as well. I do have to wonder if they'll show Bill in as unfavorable a light as the books do.

And I've never thought of Eric as bad. He can be ruthless, sure, but he's always very charming and, in the books, at least, seems pretty protective of the people under his care as the sheriff. It's always struck me as the same kind of a relationship as a liege lord. He offers them his protection in exchange for their service.

When I was referring to Eric is bad, I meant naughty, sexy bad not criminal bad.

I remember that too. I'd actually like to see Bill in a more unfavorable light for a little bit, his character seems to be getting a little stale.

I totally agree about Eric.

Your memory is fine. The show has just referred to her and to Andy's grandmother. Perhaps we'll get to meet them if/when it is revealed that they are related to Bill.

Sookie's grandmother had asked Bill when she met him if he still had relations in Bon Temps and he said yes.

I don't remember that.

I do remember him saying that the last Compton in the area had passed away and that's why he was moving into the "Old Compton Place," though.

In the books (and we know how they differ from the HBO series ..) he does not realize his connection to the Bellfleur family until Sookie finds an old family Bible with the generations written in the front of it.

I thought it was when the grandmother bellefleur sends Sookie some kind of cake or cookies or something (to thank her for clearing Andy's name) and signs the card with her full name.. and then Bill realizes.. not completely sure about that though..

I'm not sure either. :lmao:

But I do remember her giving Bill the family Bible and he's sitting reading it, totally enthralled to find out he had living relatives, etc.

Yep, I remember that, as well. Then, I think they drag out the bible at Bill's house and find that the Bellefleurs are descendants of Bill's daughter. I think I remember Bill had a prejudice against the Bellefleurs because that kid that lay screaming for help on the field during the battle in the Civil War (the one that ended up getting Bill's friend killed) was a Bellefleur. Now I'm doubting myself--did I make that up?

When old Mrs. Bellefleur sends over cake and no one is there and when Sookie returns she knows immediately who it is from. She tells Bill it is from "Caroline Holliday Belleleur".......Bill asks "who?" then he goes pale and asks Sookie to go to his house and get the Bible.

He is upset but looks through the Bible and at the family tree he tells Sookie that this is my wife "Caroline Isabelle Holliday"--ends up that old Mrs. Bellefleur is Bill's great-grandaughter.

I remember in the books when Bill finds out he is related to Bellefleurs that he starts sending them money anonymously or through some fake name and they restore the family home to its original glory etc. which upsets Sookie because she can barely make ends meet and the reason he is helping the Bellefleurs is because they are his living relatives

This is 100% correct!

It's almost Sunday night... :yay: (I'll say it again - we need a little fanged smiley!)

This last week was my favorite episode so far.... I'll miss Godrick, though. I wish he had hung around longer.
