The Official T-Rex Cafe Thread!

I just came across a post mentioning this restaurant. I have never heard of it. It states on the website that it is located in the Marketplace. I would like to learn more about this place as my kids would probably love it. Any thoughts?

I merged this into the T-Rex thread. There is a ton of information in this thread - including reviews and pictures.

It's in DTD, near Fulton's and Lego Land. I know my boys can't wait to go!

Thanks a ton!! I didn't even see this restaurant on allears either. I'll look thru the thread now:)

We just went there last Friday. My DH stood in the line they had and it was only a 15 min wait once we put our names in. They give you a little piece of paper and they call your name when your table is ready.

It really was a sight to see, just really amazing rooms...but it is very loud!! even when there isn't the meteor shower going on.. Much louder than the rainforest. The waitress even said she was having a hardtime taking orders etc..

It was really neat though....The Cotton-tini's were great. I had a nice Chicken salad sandwich, Kids had mac & cheese and dino nuggets. DD got a Blue slushy in a take home Dinosaur bone cup. My DD did the Build-a-Dino complete with Pink Dinosaur, purse and blond wig. ha

Definitely recommend it.

Do you recall how long DH had to wait in line before waiting the 15 min to have your name called? We are going there Friday and I am trying to get an idea. Did you do lunch or dinner? We have 2 kids and plan on letting the do build-a-dino as well...do you remember how much it was? The pink dinosaur with a blond wig sounds like something my daughter would like! My son is over the moon excited about this place! I can't wait to see his little face when we get there! Thanks for the imfo :)

We saw one of the dino's with the blond wig. Very cute!!!

I have a question regarding the "walk up" policy. We are going to be there over Christmas, say we want to eat there Christmas Eve, probably a really long and wait, maybe even 2 hours or more.
Do I have to stand there for 2 hours?:confused3

Someone has to stand there - we went opening night and waited just over one hour and we were all the way at the back of the parking lot when we got in line. People did not keep their whole parties in line but at least one person was in the line.

They say that they may after January 2009. You will have to call them directly though, it won't be through WDW Dine.

We dined at Raglan Road last Tuesday which was opening day for T-Rex. I wondered about the noise factor for my family so we walked up to two T-Rex CMs and asked about just seeing the restaurant. They let us in the merchandise area and wow...it is incredibly loud for me anyway.

Anyway, before we entered I did ask about reservations and they told me that eventually you will be able to make "priority seatings" through WDW.:confused3

I went with the kids into World of Disney because DH was determined to eat at T-Rex even though he hates lines.. :lmao: He waited in line and I probably was in World of Disney for maybe 10 mins when he called to tell me our name was in and that we will be seated in 15 mins....So it was probably like a 25 min wait in total for our table. We were there for lunch...It was about 12:30.

The Dino my dd built was the pink one and she got a purse, a wig, shoes, shirt and skirt and the total came to $48. Not cheap..but in line with your typical build-a-bear. I think just the Dino alone was about $20.

Have fun. It really was a sight to see.

Thanks for the info. We are thinking about eating there over the holidays, but we might have to find a time when the wait isn't so long. :)

I expect that the kids will have a drink in the souvenier bone cup. I would like to bring back a couple for their friends as well, but don't necessarily want to give them a used cup as a souvenier. Can you buy them in the gift store or in the restaurant (perhaps without a drink at a lessor price)?

THANK YOU!! I appreciate you passing on this information! I didn't think of having of phones so DH could call me when it was time. We aren't usually seperated so we typically bring one phone. We'll have two on hand for this!

Again a thousand thank you's!!!

Oh, did you build the dino while your hubby was in line or after eathing - just curious how long that takes...

We did the build-a-dino after eating. DH browsed the gift shop with the baby while we did it. It really didn't take long at all maybe 15 mins, getting DD to decide on an outfit took the majority of time. There were only maybe 3 others building a dino..but a lot of browsers.

Just thought I would share that T-Rex allowed cast members in to enjoy some awesome food and check the place out prior to it opening last week!! I would definately recommend it!! I have been to the T-Rex in Kansas City and the one in Orlando is set up differently with more detail!!!

AND the food????????? Oh goodness!!! I had the pork shank and it was awesome!!! Hubby had a plain old hamburger and he said it was excellent!! I hope you all will make this a stop for a meal! It is well worth it!!!

:)

Thanks for reporting back! It sounds great.

I am going to merge this into the 'official' T-Rex thread. For the first few weeks that it's open we're trying to keep the info on T-Rex all in one place.

myself and DW went to T-Rex last Monday for lunch. The place was empty and we could just walk in and get a table.

We both had the 'Caveman Punch, which was very nice but the food is not something that either of us would go back for. I had the boneyard ( ribs and chicken ) and it was only ok, the ribs could have been done for a bit longer as they certainly didn't fall off the bone like the ribs at Rainforest do.

DW had the Cretaceous Chicken, a chicken sandwich wrapped in a pizza dough that has been deep fried. The server said it might be a bit spicy but she though it was bland, she didn't even eat half of it.

The waffle fries were nice as was the garlic mashed potato.

Overall, foodwise, the servings are very big, we would have been happily full with just half of what they served us. It's such a waste of food and we saw plenty of other tables having their plates taken away with loads of food left on them.

Our server must have been bored, he came back to us about 10 times during the course of the meal, it got to the stage that it was annoying, yes, thank you for pointing out the different dinosaurs, we can read the info on them ourselves if we so wish, now go away and leave us eat our bland food.

We gave T-Rex a low rating, I think we'll be heading to Rainforest Cafe if we need to eat at Downtown Disney in the future.

My kids are soooooo excited to try this on our December trip!!

Is the new TREX menu online anywhere yet? Are the taking ADRs? We were at DTD the day they opened and the lines were warapped around the building. I couldn't believe people would wait that long with little kids!
