The Official T-Rex Cafe Thread!

Is the new TREX menu online anywhere yet? Are the taking ADRs? We were at DTD the day they opened and the lines were warapped around the building. I couldn't believe people would wait that long with little kids!

You can find the menu on their main site, http://www.trexcafe.com/Main/Eat.htm. They are not taking reservations until the end of the year and that isn't definite. According to emails from T-Rex to other posters here, it looks like those reservations will be made directly with the restaurant.

We ate at T-Rex last Sunday and were underwhelmed by the place. If you like the Rainforest Cafe, you'll probably like this place. We had three small children (aged 7, 5, and 2) with us and after the first round of noise and creatures moving back and forth, the kids quickly became disinterested. The servers seemed more interested in pushing the high priced menu items than in providing service and the food was nothing to rave about. Getting in was no problem - as a matter of fact, going there was a last minute decision. We were shopping at the Lego Store and noticed that the restaurant was open so we walked up at around 1:00 pm, got a slip with our name on it, and were told that the wait was 45 minutes. We continued to hang around the Lego Store (you can hear the calls from there) until our name was called.

Just left Downtown Disney and although we did not eat at T-Rex, we did walk all through it. There were several empty tables, and it did not look like much of a wait.

I will say this...my kids were absolutely in awe of the place, as were the adults with us. Their jaws literally dropped at the dinos. Not sure about the food, but the decor/ambiance was super cool. (It was a bit loud, but I would have eaten there in a heartbeat. Today, we had other pre-arranged plans). I will definitely be going back with the kids for the "dino experience" factor, if not the food.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It had tons of dinosaurs and three categoris of dining rooms- Water, Ice, and Fire, but they also had a category with most of the dinos. We ate in the ice room, which was very cool, but we wished that we could have sat in the dino room instead. The food was pretty good, and the dessert was delicious. We had the chocolate explosion, and it was even too much for five!

Can anyone tell me if they have veggie burger like Rainforest. I didnt see them on the menu posted on all ears so I was wondering what thier vegetarian options were.

Thanks!

Can anyone tell me how many different themed rooms there are and what they look like?! Photos would be great! I know there is an Ice Room! !

Anyone have the direct number to the T-Rex Restaurant?

sorry,we were too busy eating! I had the boneyard buffet, or something like that. It was babyback ribs and half a rotisserie chicken with garlic mashed potatoes & baked beans. So much food that DD13 and I shared it and DD11 and DH had some too. He had a cup of french onion soup (tummy trouble) and DD11 had the pasta marinara from the kids menu. Both girls had the icees in the bone glass (souvenir cup). Total without tip was around $60.

Are there any food pics yet??

I have some. My dd has to help me load them onto the computer and then I'll post them. I'm hoping to have them here by this weekend.

We ate there on Wed. Oct. 29 at 2pm and the place was almost deserted. It was awesome to see all the rooms and talk with the staff. There was even a black-out in the restaurant when we ate. That was interesting!

I'll post those pics ASAP!

thanks for the info. we will be there on wednesday evening. Im glad to hear I can hear my name from the lego store- since most likely ds will be there most of the night debating on which one to get for his bday;)

Okay, we can all thank DD for uploading the pics. Here they are:

More to come.

All the kids got the specialty drinks. You do get to keep the souvenior cup it comes in. The drink inside was basically like an icee.

Overall we enjoyed this restaurant. It was very similar to Rainforest Cafe except with obviously different theming. The prices and even most of the menu items seemed similar too. Yes it was slightly overpriced, but I believe you are paying partially for the atmosphere which was awesome!

As I mentioned above, they had a black-out when we were there (actually we had just given them our credit card to pay). We thought maybe they wouldn't be able to run the card, but we waited and chatted in the dark with our server and in about 5 minutes, the lights came back on and they ran the card (drat!). We thought we ALMOST had a free lunch.

Dd did the build a dino, we wanted to stay for Dinner after Cirque but it was fairly busy at 8pm. DTD was hopping which was fun to see. Our other trips its been pretty tame but it was packed. The dino, and her set of clothes set us back $49. They did let me use Rainforest cafe gift card to pay for it.

We ate there twice during our recent stay...

The first time there we had lunch, I had the T-Rexadillas and DH had the Bronto Burger - both were excellent! :thumbsup2

Then our our last day there we decided to go for dinner. I had the Supersaurus Sampler (OMG so good, and shared it with DH and the kids) and then I had the french onion soup which was so yummy! DH had the ribs, and he said they were excellent too.

The kids had a variety of things... pizza, nuggets, and mac & cheese the two times we were there.

I highly recommend TREX, we loved it!

Both the ribs and the roasted/rotisserie chicken on the boneyard platter were excellent
