Emmitt was the nice guy and I liked him.

But Mario was the best dancer. ;)

::yes::

My DD's (5 and 7) started throwing toys at the tv. I guess they didn't like the results. I wanted to join them, but I controlled myself. :teeth:

Yeah, I kinda felt the same way. I'm still trying to not be frustrated. This is really my first reality show experience where I've voted. The two guys I loved didn't make it. Joey got booted the week before and now Mario.

I like Emmitt, but I had to be honest and know that the reasons I liked Emmitt were more to do with his personality than his technique and that is something I always complain about when people vote and watch American Idol. They vote for the person they like the most instead of the one with the most talent. Or, in some cases, the one they think they'd get along with best.

And that's what I did and it kinda makes me think: what's the point? I think next season I'll just watch and not vote. You can't really go against a fanbase of someone like Emmitt Smith. Even Jerry Rice last year (who didn't dance 10% as well as Emmitt) went WAY too far because of his fan base.

It kinda makes it seem fruitless to even try. Emmitt COULD dance, but to me, his technique was no match for Mario's. I knew, however, that Mario was done once I started reading stuff like, "I think Mario's a jerk! I don't want him to win!" and "Karina is a (insert word here)!"

But for me, what was important, was the two or less minutes they had on the dance floor and nothing else and I think that's where the mistake is made with reality shows such as this. It's more of a popularity contest than a contest based on technique. *sigh*

I know, I know. I should have known, but I was a reality show voting virgin.

if you really want to watch a dancing show where the performers are judged by the dance, and not their personality/popularity you should watch So You Think You Can Dance. it's a great show, much better than DWTS.

you have to figure that the DWTS judges have a big say in who stays and who goes as well. and they have their "favorites" from the beginning because these people are celebrities. so some people have an unfair advantage from the start.

But there are a LOT of people that abused phone and internet rights too. Each person should get FIVE votes. Not five votes on this phone line and five votes on that phone line and five votes from this I-net account and five votes from that I-net account, etc....

In the end it was just a popularity contest for one of the ugliest trophies around. It was just a TV show.

Too bad it turned out to be a popularity contest and not a dance contest. Mario is clearly the better dancer. I like Emmitt and he did dance well but Mario is much better.

Yeah. I'm guilty of voting from two phones. But even Emmitt said last night, "Use all the phones you've got!" So, I think it was a given. I really believe people were doing that on BOTH sides. So, I can't really claim that as liability. I don't know. Maybe it was. I heard that was the reason Sara stayed so long. That and Tom Delay pimping her out to his Republican constituates.

In the end though, I'm just not that aggressive. I can only do so much. I can't go to the trouble of clearing cookies or whatever and then having to put in all my stuff again. The phone stuff is easy. The online just isn't for me.

I will have to try that out. What Network does that show?

Fox. same as Idol. i'm not sure when it airs again, but i'm pretty sure it's sometime around March. much better show.

Mario may have technically been a better dancer, but Emmit was a far superior entertainer.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The judges adored Marios freestyle, I thought it was awkward in more than a few places. I enjoyed Emmets freestyle way more.

I will watch that.

I used to watch the professional dance competitions on television a few years back, but I never see them on anymore. Now THAT is some awesome dancing.

I want to learn, but don't have the money right now. They play an ad during DwtS for Fred Astaire and it sounds fairly affordable, but is it really a good place to learn? And do they pair you with a professional partner/trainer or what?

i seriously can not believe big E won.

I mean i can't complain because i dont vote, and i get that... dont get me wrong. I dont vote because i believe things like this are rigged, and that is my OWN PERSONALY OPINION SO DONT FLAME ME... but c'mon now. lol. yes, they were both talanted... a lot of people from this season were. but mario... poor guy. you could tell he was a little upset at the results. he had that 'yougottabekiddinme' look in his eye.

oh well mario. you won in my heart. i'll still watch saved by the bell every morning, haha!!!

i watched last season and some of the things they did were AMAZING on that show. i even went to the tour they had, it was so much fun!

i've seen that ad also. i'm not sure how they are. i haven't danced in years. i'd love to do it again, but like you, i have no cash. however, i will be getting married in 2008, so i'm thinking we'll probably start taking some classes in summer of 2007.

i love watching those reactions! it was like Chris from Idol! he so thought he was going to win and when they said "you're leaving tonight" he had this look of total shock like "ME?! SURLY YOU DON'T MEAN ME!?" ......hilarious!

that's why whenever you're in a competition, you shouldn't let your ego get in the way. you should just be thinking "i'm happy just being here at this point. if i win, that's great, but i'm not expecting it!" it makes you look bad infront of public. perfect example?? Faith Hill!

I thought Mario was a phenomenal dancer but I thought Emmitt's ballroom technique was at times better than Mario's. There were some smooth dances where Mario didn't do a single heel lead in his entire routine. Emmitt wasn't as flashy a dancer as Mario but he almost always danced with proper ballroom technique. (I think that's why Len Goodman liked him so much and always gave him such good marks.)

I also thought Emmitt conveyed the joy of ballroom dancing better than any of the other competitors this season. When I used to take ballroom classes some of my friends and co-workers would ask me why in the world would anybody want to learn ballroom dancing. I would try to explain to them just how much fun it is and how good it feels when you are gliding across that dance floor. For me, Emmitt conveyed that feeling better than anyone else. And I think it's inspiring to see such a big guy (and a football player to boot!) looking so good on the dance floor and having such a good time.

without a doubt Mario was the superb dancer ......

it was kinda sad to see it in their eyes when they did not win.

I liked Emmet...I believe he was the best all around because he had no idea how to dance from day 1..... Mario was very much a dancer prior to being on the show.

Emmet won the heart of the audience as did Nick...because we all know Kaci Stabler (?) was the best dancer that year.

So be it!! they all got further on their careers because of their presence on the show ....so that is a good thing

See, I completely loved Emmitt, but I think I loved him for his determination and in the end, it was strictly the dancing for me.

I found Emmitt's freestyle to be a bit sloppy, unfortunately. And when you compare Emmitt's best dances with Mario's tango (2nd), for me, there was no competition.

I think Emmitt had the everyman vote as well, as Carrie Ann said last night. Mario's dances were energizing for me and made ME want to dance.

I didn't watch that season, but I watched the highlights and I was ASTOUNDED that she didn't take the trophy. I've read that a lot of people blame the freestyle round for her loss last year, but don't know if that's true or not.

That's interesting because when I watch Mario dance I am totally in awe of him but I know that there is no way I could ever do what he does out on the dance floor! I get more inspired seeing a big burly guy like Emmitt learning to dance and looking so good doing it. That makes me think that there's hope for those of us who aren't born dancers!

I just want to know how they're going to get anyone even close to these two guys for next season. These two are a hard act to follow!
