I have a question about the Fiji Luau Cove side. Could you hear the Luau at night? I know tikiman had that listed as a con and I was wondering how loud it actually is.

We stayed in Fiji facing Luau Cove last May and the only time you could hear it was if you were outside on the balcony- its not really loud- just soft luau music which is really nice actually. Fiji is an awesome longhouse.

Bumping this up :Pinkbounc

Glad to be joining you :goodvibes I am so getting fired up and ready to plan our next trip to the World :wave2:

We're heading to Poly in June and we're requesting a garden view in Rarotonga because it's near GCH, monorail and Neverland club where we're leaving the kids one night while we go to Victoria and Alberts at GF. Can you walk from GF to Poly?? If so, how long is that walk??

Yes you can walk from GF to Poly. It is a quick walk along the beach. I'd estimate 10-20 minutes maybe.

The boat is a good way to go if you want to get there fast. But if your willing to take a walk and look at scenery than walk to the GF and back.

i got my paperwork in the mail today but it didnt have any requests on it
it did yur next to poly concierge what does that mean

It is a beautiful walk, plus you get to see the GF Spa and their wedding chapel. Really lovely. Make sure you walk around the chapel. There are some great picture opportunites. ;)

We are going after Thanksgiving. We were there this past September and stayed lagoon view in Tahiti. This time we are trying their conciege with a lagoon, MK view. :cloud9:

Just joined DVC-will be using the extra points we received for 5 nites LVC! Can't wait this will be for DH's and my anniversary! We were there in Jan. LVC and I can't wait to return! Angel

:sunny: DH and I were going to stay at POR for 5 nights in May(24-29). But we are going back to POR for 10 nights in Sept...so I was kinda worried about getting a little TOO much POR. Plus we had never stayed at a deluxe before and I really wanted to. All that was available for our dates was AKL or GL, so I played around with our dates a little and found that I could get the poly from the 23-26 and then switch to another resort for the next 2 nights. So, I am trying to hurry and cram all the poly info I can so I can get our room requests in soon. I really want a newly refubished room(new style) and I REALLY want a balcony(or just a 1st floor room would do I guess.....) We don't care to be close to the TTC or the GCH, a nice view would be better for us. We don't mind walking at all. Plus while I wouldn't mind seeing it in the distance, I don't think I would want the monorail right outside my door. So I could use some helpful advice from everyone who has stayed there. We also want non-smoking and we payed for a GV room. Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I know that some of the rooms have already been redesigned. So are the beds/pillows of all the old and new rooms the same and just the decorations have changed? If the new rooms have the same beds as the old rooms, I'd rather make my request for trying for the best view rather than the new rooms. Thanks. :cool1:

Hey MommyPoppkins.
I know others with more Poly experience than I will probably reply but ... our first time at WDW we stayed in FIGI on the third floor (balcony - yea!) overlooking the marina. It was a nice view. You could see the Contemporary, it was close to the GCH, yet of course walking distance to the Transportation Center. It was considered a GV and it was non-smoking, newly refurbished. Just WONDERFUL!!! We could see the Volcano (part of the volcano pool) but no real noise. WE LOVED IT -- we truly embraced the magic. HAVE FUN!!!!

lol. I'm giving up my diamond this year for this stay. :teeth: Plus, remember I don't have a house and we're living with a friend while we're building our house..so I also don't have a mortgage...and we paid off our van this year too...so this is a first and probably last deluxe stay for us. Might as well go out with a bang. :thumbsup2 We are also staying 2 nights at WL.

So other than you missing out on a balcony, did you like your location? Good view? I was looking into Tokelau west side because some of those rooms have a view of the castle if you lean over your railing and look right. :rotfl2: :lmao:

I've had some "talks" with Tikiman and done alot of research for the "optimal" room location. These are my choices - Samoa 1st or 3rd fl volcano pool side, Fiji 1st or 3rd marina side or Tokelua 2n or 3rd pool side. Hope this helps and if you get one of these, you'll have to let me know for m trip!

I agree...Fiji was an outstanding location...have you been to Steve's website??

Even though we had the GF side of the building and no balcony we still loved it. I think had I pushed hard enough I could have scored us a balcony but I was soooo excited to even be there that I took what she offered me right away...DUHHH....it's like a game of Poker...high stakes...I know that for my next trip...

anyway we thought Fiji was a great location. Close to everything you will need to be close to with 4 little guys...and if they LOVE the monorail stay on the GF side and they can watch it zoom by!! I am NO expert, yet I pretend to be :)
anyway...get a new room whatever you do.

you just gave me a brilliant idea!!!

sell my house=stay at Poly!!

going right now to tell dh my idea...I might be single when I get back to the DIS...or he may have me admitted...

seriously though I hope you have a WONDERFUL time and I am going to be looking for that Poly TR!!! :cloud9:

oh yeah... I was going to say here that IMO...and I know I am going to get flamed here...quite possibly by some dear internet friends...but IMO the MK is not even close enough to the Poly to get that good of a view of the castle. This is my opinion people...I would rather go DOWN TO THE BEACH to watch Wishes than have a slight view from my room...and what about the MUSIC?? It is not the same without it. Go for the new room and close proximity to the GCH and pool and you can't go wrong.

If a balcony is really important to you, make sure you know which buildings have them on the second floor and which ones don't. I almost swept away the pixie dust being sent our way last August because of this. I'd never stayed at the Poly before either and done the whole where to request a room thing and ended up requesting Fiji third floor for the GV. Well, when we were checking in late night and my brain was mush, I was told we'd be in Tahiti 2023. Due to my overwhelming concern that a second floor room might not have a balcony, I didn't even think of where Tahiti was located, I only asked whether the second floor room there had a balcony. The woman said she didn't think so and I asked if I could be moved to one with a balcony but it was late and she said I could try again in the morning if still inclined. I got to the room and not only was there a balcony, but it overlooked the lagoon. Nice garden view! Needless to say, I didn't ask to me moved.

Also, although that was a welcome surprise that will likely never be repeated, we did realize when staying there that the grounds are so beautiful and lush, you really can't go wrong regardless. It's wonderful to just be there.

Okay, I think you've sold me. I am going to request 3rd floor, Figi, marina side.

I don't care about the monorail and the boys are coming. :cheer2: This is my birthday trip with just DH. We're taking them for 10 nights in Sept. at POR.

Now I just have to figure out what to request for the WL portion of our stay.... :woohoo:
