Iwould never worry about a lagoon view MK view again. Last year we had a lagoon view, castle view at the GF. I was so excited because I thought it would be great to watch the fireworks from our own balcony, especially since we were there over the 4th of July. We stayed 15 nights so it was a big difference in money. After about the third night my kids wanted to go back and watch the fireworks in front of the GF marina like we used to! It was neat to watch the fireworks change colors but not worth $1000!

We have decided to split our stay this trip. First week with the in-laws at POR, now we are moving over to the Poly for the last 4 nights. I do blame you - MOMOFMNM because you got me questioning our POR stay and longing for the monorail again! I am just booking a gv room but if I upgrade it would be to GVC instead of LV.

ROBYN!!!!!

HOW COULD YOU?????? :stir:

we were supposed to be REFORMED deluxe snobs TOGETHER at POR
you sold me out... :sad2:
I think I am the ONLY polylover NOT staying there during free dining... :guilty:

off to plan another fake Poly vacation and price the EXACT same vacation I priced 3 mins ago, to see if Disney lowered rack rate since then!!

ROBYN!! AAAAAHH~~
I just think a week is too short of a stay to do a split...I like to go all or nothin'....

mommypoppins:

OHHH no KIDS huh?? Oh lord....get ready for a 5th. You MUST have a balcony then...for reasons I can not explain right now...but yeah...you need one...

get room service too...breakfast in bed one morning and ask for some extra syrup with that tonga toast, k????

have a ton-o-fun!~~ whooohooo!!! :woohoo:

Don't worry we're still staying the first week at POR. I'll give you a full report.

I was perfectly fine about staying the whole time until your adoration of the Poly kicked into full gear!

I wouldn't split a stay for 7 day eithers. I'm nervous about splitting our stay because we're already doing four nights at HRH. DH wasn't thrilled about splitting our Disney stay too but I um, convinced him. I hope it works out with switching the resorts or he will be one unhappy camper.

Apparently, I'm only a semi-reformed deluxe snob. I did just read a thread though where someone was only supposed to stay at POR one night then transfer over to WL but they liked POR so much they did their whole stay at POR. Maybe that will happen to us too - sure would make DH happy to save some money!

You better watch your mouth! :lmao: There ain't gonna be no "get ready for a 5th" about it! My baby needs to either be potty trained or changing his own diapers before I want another one! I'm being a good girl....I never forget my "daily meds"....well hardly ever anyway. :lmao:

Oh and BTW, I tried tonga toast last year at Kona...I threw up in my mouth a little. ;) I'm kidding...I think..I really didn't like it at all and I was SO looking forward to it.

And I think my DH mentioned those same reasons...but I was firm when I said, "heck no". ;)

And you'll love POR...there's a boat ride to DTD, which is cool I hear....I never did it. We weren't there long enough to relax. :lmao: My only advice for POR, if you are going to stay till a park closing, or near to one, drive. The line for POR is about 2 days long, in fact, I think it starts at the poly. :rolleyes1 Either that or take the PFQ bus and walk back to POR, or take the boat if it's still open. :thumbsup2

OUCH....

OHHHH thems fighten words....MOMMYP...I wish you nothing but easy and extreme fertility for your LUXURIOUS Poly vacation... :goodvibes

"honey get out the Gold Card...we're doing LVC at the Poly in August...." :lmao:

we don't get a car...my husband behind a wheel at night with a million little kids in the parking lot...don't mix. He is a daredevil for a guy his age.

I don't know what we'll do...I may pay for a taxi....heck...I could proably hire a LIMO for the week for what we are saving at POR...

I have been searching pictures of the resort and it looks nice. There were a few of the room pictures I saw and they looked very 70's. Are they still like this or have they been updated??

you just gave me a brilliant idea!!!

sell my house=stay at Poly!!

going right now to tell dh my idea...I might be single when I get back to the DIS...or he may have me admitted...

If I suggested this to my DH he would have me Commited. :confused3

OP, For your WL stay I would request Wood view on and upper floor by the otter pond. It is very quiet and some rooms can see MK fireworks. If you choose courtyard, make sure you are in the main courtyard near the main pool the nyou can EWP from your balcony. I"m going to the Poly too! We usually stay at WL, but have always wanted to stay at the Poly. Can't wait!

Hope no on gets upset about this question: Can you get a drink or small snack out of the CL and take it to your room, the parks, or the pool? And I'm not talking about taking a huge platter of food, enough for a meal.. pile it up and leave.... :)

Tikimans website said that the Samoa rooms were beig worked on in Feb. Anyone know how that went? Are they done? Any word on if they'll be done in May?

The rooms in Samoa were done on March 1st and even have the new headboards.

Heading to the Polynesian in June (7 weeks can hardly wait) and requested Rapa Nuie on my reservation. Just curious if anyone has stayed there recently?? If I recall, the 1st and 3rd floors have the new rooms...but what about the second floor?? Any time line on the renovations on that floor (if in June, how disruptive are the renovations??).

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights.

We are staying at the Poly in a week (April 23-27) and I just called to add a building preference/request to our reservation. I asked for Samoa. We have just a garden view room and the CM told me that most of the Samoa was designated for Conceirge rooms. Is that true? I thought Hawaii was all conceirge..but Samoa was not concierge. Can anyone help?

We are taking 3 small kids..ages 5,3, and 1 so I thought Samoa was the perfect location and my husband is hung up on getting one of the "new" rooms.

Thanks in advance!

The CM is wrong. There are no concierge rooms in Samoa. The entire building is standard garden views. This is my favorite building. I always request 3rd floor facing the volcano pool. It gives you a little lagoon view for free!

Ok,
we are going to stay POLY garden concierge August 23-28. Are there two concierge buildings, im confused. If so, should I suggest one over the other.
The two things that I would like are a remodeled room and a balcony. Any suggestions. :wizard:

Hawaii is the only (except for suites, $$$) concierge longhouse. Since you want a balcony, you should request 3rd floor (or 1st floor for a walk out patio).

Hello All,

I'm new to this board and I wanted to ask everyone an opinion. My family and I are taking our FIRST trip to Disney ever and we are staying at the Poly cuz it looks FABULOUS. My kids are 18, 16 and 10. The big question.........which longhouse to stay in? I requested garden view and a ground floor room, and had originally thought Tokelau...as the rooms are a little larger...however, Tikiman's website said it was being renovated when we are there. I would like to get a newer room, quiet, but not too far, and with as much room as possible........SO....would you all recommend Samoa or somewhere else?

I REALLY appreciate your input! :thumbsup2
