Thanks so much for that, Concierge rooms are all gone for my dates next Easter (probably a good thing too as they are way too xpnsv for me!) and it is good to know that whatever Longhouse we get we will only be a few mins from food and drink!!

Can't Wait :cool1:

Thanks again

Nicola

For all you Poly fans out there, could you give me some advice. I was wondering if the Poly was nice during Christmas? Which is a better room Lagoon Concierge, or the Garden View Concierge?

This will be our first Christmas at WDW. It's a surprise for our little ones ages 6, 4, and 1 1/2. Also, adding to the surprise my mil is coming from Australia to be with us all. We lost my fil last year, so none of us really got into the holiday season last year, and my mil is starting to get lonely. When we asked her she jumped at the chance. I need all the help and advice any of you can give me.

I've heard ALL resorts at WDW are simply fabulous during Christmas. I'd love to go during Christmas sometime. And maybe we will in the future.

I think it's absolutely WONDERFUL that your MIL is joining you from Australia for Christmas at WDW. What a wonderfully magical place for you guys to get into the Christmas spirit. :goodvibes

Both LVC & GVC are great rooms. The only difference is the view & the price. I'm sure no matter which you choose, you'll have a great room.

LVC at the Poly is tops on my list but for my next trip in October for 9 nights I've opted for GV. I just can't justify the additional expense on this trip. With concierge you do get the view from the lounge and the beach is just steps away. If I really wanted a very special trip I would book LV but this is our 3rd Poly Concierge trip since Jan 2004 and I think we'll get by with GV. :teeth: My DD(will be 6 1/2) wouldn't go to bed til she saw the EWP from our room. This year she'll have to go to the beach or lounge to watch it.

I think you'll love the convenience of concierge with your little ones. I just got back from ASMo with just my DS and we had a great time but he kept asking me where the "hotel" was. He missed concierge!

We'll be at the Poly in January. Low season--a first for us. Yea!! We'll have 3 rooms and 6 kids, 11-2. We reserved Garden View. My question is: Should we request to be as close to the GCH as possible? Closest to the monorail and snack bar with the coffee and chocolate milk in the morning, I mean. Since it is January, the pool will not be such a big draw as it would in warmer weather. I don't know which building to request or if I should just leave it to the Poly to decide. Thanks!

P.S. One child has asthma. Didn't I read a while back that some of the Poly buildings were more prone to mold and allergens than others. Any help there?

WE just got back (9/22-9/24) at the Poly and stayed in Tokelau. My son has asthma too and we had no problems. Try to get one of the room's mentioned on tiki's site that have lagoon views at garden view prices! WE had 2912 and it was awesome!

That is good advice. I've looked at his site, but didn't see that mentioned. Do you remember what section it is under?

Can you watch the Electric water parade from any of the rooms? This is a favorite thing my sister and I did when we went with our mother when we were young. However, our own kids will be along this year and are usually asleep by that time.

I asked something similiar earlier and couldn't believe it was no - maybe I worded it wrong or someone was pulling my leg.
But I'll ask again. How far can you go into the water at the beach "if" at all?
For example lets say I'm playing in the sand with my daughter and we want to wade up to our knees in the water - is this allowed. If not how do most of you cool off when sitting in the lounge chairs? Do you jump into the pool all sandy?

There is a shower near the pool to rinse off the sand. :)

No one will shoo you out of the water at least in our experience. It is pretty common for children to get buckets fill of water for their sand castles, etc.. But there are no guards and the water is murky so I wouldn't let a little one do more than that myself. :sunny:

Here is the link on Tokelau and the rooms mentioned that have partial lagoon views at garden view prices. http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/tokelau.html

We were on the beach for Wishes and the EWP, but I'm sure we could have watched from our balcony 2912. But we had to crook our neck a little to the right, so we just ran down to the beach for better viewing...easy access as there is a walk down landing 2 doors down at the back of Tokelau.

I've heard you do not want to swim in the lagoon...alligator/crocodile risk. But we did see one lady allowing her young child to wade into the water. Not me. There are outdoor showers for rinsing off the sand.

Thanks for the reply. From some earlier reading I was getting the impression the water was toxic or something.

What keeps the gators from coming ashore and devouring guests one by one?

There are a number of different theories about the water and why swimming is now banned. Alligators and amoeba are the two that make the most sense to me as well as the lack of lifeguards. In addition, folks are out with the boats and to really swim there would be dangerous I think.

Years ago, there was a roped off swimming area and our kids did swim within it. But that was a long time ago now.

ha ha...I don't know. Probably too much noise and all. But I still wouldn't take the risk.

We were in 3911 and that block of rooms (11-14) was indeed wonderful! We might have had a slight advantage over the second floor because we could see over the top of the palm trees that partially hid the castle. Partial views of the EWP and Wishes but much better to hop down to the beach. I was told water has a lot of bacteria especially in summer so prolonged exposure is not wise. Wish I was on the beach now, in a hammock listening to the MK Railroad whistle!

Hi,

My family is planning to stay at the Poly. We are a group of 7 (me, my wife, DS (3), DD (1) , my mother and my 2 nieces(12,10) ).

I'm wondering, which to prefer: 2 rooms LVC (for the view, lounge...) or 2BR princess suite (everyone together, more quiet)

What's your opinion?

If you go by 2006 rates and lets even say value season this is what you have.

2 Lagoon view concierge $1100 ($550 per night each room) sleeps 10 total
2 Garden view concierge $880 ($440 per night each room) sleeps 10 total
Princess 2 bedroom suite $1,260 per night (sleeps 10 total)
Ambassador 2 bedroom suite $1415 per night (sleeps 8 total)

So both Hawaii concierge options are cheaper and not only that but that is rack rate. There are usually prices about $100-$120 off the rack rate for the Hawaii rooms. Now with the suites no discounts apply and I can’t remember the daily tax of the Princess and the Ambassador but the King Kamehameha is $200 per day Resort tax on top of the price of the room.

I guess DISers are pretty well-informed about the Poly. . .I had to do a search to find this thread, and it isn't on the Resorts Forums Sticky.

I've wanted to try out the Poly ever since I got interested in the history, details, and secrets of WDW, which is around the time I joined the Boards. Dh actually wants to stay at the poly on our next trip in early Dec. 2006; I was surprised and excited that he suggested this!

I haven't started touring this site yet, but I look forward to doing so.

Thanks!
