I'm also hoping to make our stay in February at the Polynesian Concierge. I've run across a number of pictures, but I'm still curious about a few things... :) 1) Does anyone have any pictures of the garden view side of the concierge building? 2) I ran across a site ( http://www.luxurydisneyguide.com/accom_mka_dpr.htm ) and the pictures they have up of the new guestrooms look just great. Does anyone know if this is what the rooms in the concierge building will look like when they're done with refurbishments? Also, is it a pretty sure thing that they'd be completely done with refurbs for that building by February 2006? Quite frankly, the idea of getting a room like that for one of our WDW trips just tickles me pink. :bitelip:

Heh. Anyway, giddiness aside, if we end up not being able to stay concierge, does anyone have any information on the refurbishment schedule or whatnot for the rest of the resort? I sure am looking forward to being able to stay there; I think I fell in love with this resort after first getting to visit in 2001 with a friend and this would be my first time back, now with my fiancee. :)
Follow this link and read thru the thread. Tikimans website has all the info your looking for

Understood....However the rehab dates at the Polynesian keep changing. I've also noticed some are taking longer to finish than originally planned.
I read Tikiman's update this morning and feel a little bit more at ease about the Hawaii building rehab.
Please fill us all in with your info and pictures when you return. Have a great Labor Day vacation
I'm very hopeful they will stick to their dates for concierge as I arrive 10/14. They've got a lot more at stake with the concierge dates because they are out the revenue of those concierge rooms. I'm hopeful that they've got some of the kinks worked out of the rehab and will be better able to keep to their schedule. I thought some of the initial delays were due to materials not coming in on schedule. I would think they've got that problem fixed now.

Thanks for the encouraging post. :earsboy: Maybe you'll be one of the first to share the new info and new photos of the Hawaii building

Does anyone know which building would be preferred; the Samoa, Rorutonga, of the Fiji?

I just read your report Frances. It sounded so wonderful!! Did you have to request the nightly calls regarding the weather and such? It's such a nice touch.

I have booked a lagoon view room for the end of September for 6 nights. Which building should I request. We would like a balcony and if possible to see the Magic Kingdom. I know so does everyone! :goodvibes

With Steve's site down I can't reseach. Can anyone make a suggestion?

Hi Angel,
Since our first stay is in December, I cannot answer your question specifically.
However...If you go back and read through this thread, as well as a couple others in the Resort section on the Polynesian, I'm sure you will find lots of good info regarding your questions

Francis999 - I am wondering too. Is this a concierge only perk? It is a wonderful way to plan your next day.

We will be arriving at the Polynesian in 3 weeks and 5 days. (surprised I don't have the seconds down too) :earsgirl: We are staying in a standard room. We did have concierge but they will be closed for rehab.

If you could choose only one thing not to miss at the Polynesian, what one would you choose?

Angel

Concierge guests do get messages from the concierge desk about weather, activities, Extra Magic Hour or Early Morning Entry, etc and followed by a goodnight message or other greeting.

These are not prerecorded but a call is placed to each concierge guest.

Forgive me if this has already been answered...but do guests leis (I'm a lousy speller!) upon check in...or is it just a concierge perk?

:cool1: great! December can't get here quick enough!

I'd really appreciate some suggestions, having never stayed at the Poly before. I'm taking my mother and my 8 year old daughter for a 4 night stay. We're booked into a Garden view room. Mom will probably rent an ecv for the stay. Can you give me plusses and minus to the bldgs? I'm going to request a ground floor room due to the ecv, but which one? Do I understand correctly some have been rehabed, and some haven't? I like the idea of staying closer to the TTC, but then I think, I really won't like the walk to the GCH?

Hey guys,

Are there fridges in the rooms? I'm thinking that it would be nice to stop on the way from the airport and get some drinks...so I just wondered? Tried to check Tikimans site but I keep getting the message that the site is won temporarily. Thanks!

There will be refigerators in the rooms once the new decor is in. Rooms that haven't yet been redone don't have them but you can call and one will be delivered. :flower:

All the longhouses have advantages but Tokelau has larger rooms, lanais or balconies and is sort of midway between the GCH and the TTC. Rapa Nui and Tahiti are even closer to the TTC but some if not all of the first floor rooms facing the courtyard in Rapa Nui are accessible rooms. Not sure if that is what your mother needs?

If she just needs the ECV for the parks because of distances, Raratonga might be a good request for you too. It is very close to the GCH and the bus stop. She could probably easily walk to the GCH for meals and shopping. It's a manner of maybe 20 feet from Raratonga to the GCH doors.

I have just read throught 22 amazing pages of this thread and I want to be there now!!

Just one question left, I am trying to get an idea of the size of the resort (I have looked at the maps etc).

How big is the whole resort, eg how long would it take to walk from the longhouse furthest away from the GCH to the GCH (if that makes sense). I am trying to decide whether or not I can justify Concierge, I just love the idea of the convenience for snacks/drinks.

Thanks so much

Nicola

From our trip in early August, I can tell you some of the rooms already have fridges, some don't...but if they don't you simply call and ask for one and it will be delivered within minutes. Enjoy your stay at paradise!!!

All of the longhouses are no more than a 3-4 minute walk from the GCH. From the GCH to the TTC is about a 6-7 minute walk and it is only about a 10 minute walk from the GCH to the Grand Floridian.
