The Official October 2012 Car Rental Thread

I am looking for a one way rental from Sanford airport to WDW on Oct 4th. Just a one day rental. I wish there was a cheap way to get from Sandford to WDW. Hopefully the one day rates will come down when we get closer to Oct.

Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on what happened with our rental agreement with UScarhire. We had to get on them to get a final answer but thankfully it's a positive one. They are honoring our original reservation which includes all of the insurance. We are very relieved with this, but realize that this is the last time we will be able to take advantage of this offer.

I had been able to find some good deals with Dollar at $190 and Advantage at $173, but all insurance included and renting with Alamo that included all the insurance and an additional driver we couldn't pass up their rate at $213. DH is much happier with this...and now he has a year to come to grips with using our own insurance with a supplemental rider attached. :rolleyes1

Good luck to everyone here with getting the best rates!!

Not sure what rate you have found so far for a 1 day rental. With Alamo using Costco ID 7014627 and E-Coupon AU2291VYT for a free upgrade (booking compact with upgrade to midsize) the total is $53. This is picking up at SFB and dropping at WDW (ORLR72).

I don't understand, all I am looking for is an economy/compact for a week in Oct (20-27). The best I'm finding anywhere is $300+ What am I doing wrong here??

Try Budget using D454300 (Wendie's special offer) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30.00 off. Total for a midsize SUV is $172 inc taxes after coupon is applied when return vehicle. A compact is $20.00 less.

Ok I thought I'd chime in on this thread regarding rental cars. Well we are going to DLC in June of 2013 and staying for 9 nights and we live 8 hrs. north of L.A. so we get a rental every time. We will need the vehicle for 10 days and we always go through Costcotravel.com this time we are renting Chevy Tahoe for 10 days for $561.00 out the door and that's with Avis via Costco Travel. :cool1::dance3::cheer2:

WOW!THANK YOU! that beat my best option so far by over $100!!! And it saved us from having to decide between a mini-van and a full size which were $100 apart but honestly, the car would have been tight for all we need to bring with. Now I have the mid-size SUV and we'll be great! THANK YOU!!! $275 total for 8 days 21 hours!

Believe me and the OP that you guys are looking WAY too early for car rentals. The prices will drop closer to the date you need to pick up the rental. Trust me!
Take a look at the Aug car rental thread it was started months ago and those DISers were stating their rental prices are high yet if you look at the last pages of that thread you will see that the prices have now come way down.
So don't panic you are just looking to early. I never book my car until 7-10 days before I leave and the last 3 trips I got a mid size for a week at Alamo for just under $100.00 I have another trip planed for Oct as well but I am not going to book until I am a week to 10 days from my trip date.

:thumbsup2

I'll keep looking! ;) I'm happy w/ what we have... though probably because we used to pay whatever we found months and months out w/o ever looking for codes.:bitelip: But thanks for the tip that those mega deals will materialize the closer we get. :thumbsup2

Ok one question do you have Costco membership? If you do then you can definitely get a deal through Costco Travel, you can log in or create an acct. if you haven't created one yet then log in and search under rental cars. I have seen some amazing prices for the size car your looking for. What is your limit price wise?

Thanks for posting this. We used codes very close to these last year from Budget to get a SUV and were happy there, it was easy and the spouse was free as an additional driver no hassle. So far this year the best I had was $220 for a SUV for a week at National. I had been checking Budget with last years codes, but haven't looked for a few days. Your codes worked great and it is for $15 less than last year. :cool1: If better rates for SUV's come out that will be great, but if not I'm ok paying $170 for a SUV for a week.

Thanks! How do you know the coupon gets applied after you return it?

Thanks for posting this, I just saved $105 off my City Special with Dollar!!

Thank you for this code!! I just booked an intermediate SUV from October 12 - 19 for $202!! :yay:

I booked with the Wendie's code ($175 with taxes for compact for 6 days). I did some checking and the MUGZ029 is a Costco code, so since we don't have a Costco membership we won't use it. Still a good deal even without it!

We are looking to rent a car to drive to WDW from KC Oct 9th - 16th. Since we are a family of 7 we will need a minivan or full size SUV. Where should I look to get the best deals? I really want to shave off as much of this part of the expense as I can so we can put that money in the spending money fund! Obviously, we would need something with unlimited miles. What's the best company to look at for this?

TIA!!

Do you have a Costco membership? If so they have good prices on their website if you rent from Enterprise or Avis. if not Enterprise and Avis has good prices!! And what is your limit your willing to spend on a rental? :teacher:

Try Budget using BCD x474200 (travelocity code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off.

We don't have a Costco membership but have considered getting one. Would the benefits outweigh the membership cost? We have budgeted the full, undiscounted price for renting a minivan but I'm trying to save all the money I can. When we called Enterprise, they quoted us a price of $630 for the week. I KNOW I can do better than that! Budget without the codes webworm provided was almost $100 less.
