This fits the thread.. I'd like to give a shout out to the Toronto Blue Jays today
Now that we are getting closer to the July 31st trading deadline, we should start discussing the rumors.
I heard this morning the Mets may be interested in Sammy Sosa.

I heard that Bonds just hit another. Go Barry.... go do what you must do, do it quickly, and then be on your way.
Wow, that would be a colossal mistake!![]()

An interesting factoid about the Barry Bonds home run chase. The Giants are about to play to Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee.
On this date (7/20) in 1971, Hank Aaron hit his 755th home run for the Brewers. In Milwaukee. Maybe that means that Barry won't be able to hit it this weekend......
I think the year is wrong on that fact (I assume the date is correct, however).
I know that Hank's 715th was hit in 1974 (on my 2nd birthday, in fact![]()
), so I think #755 was hit in 1975 or '76 (I think '76 was his last season?)
ETA: and you had to throw in the fact that you were 2 when Hank set the record. I was almost 13!
that's what I get for sneaking in posts at work.the year was 1976. thanks for the correction.

Hopefully, they got their winning out of the way so my Royals can at least eek out one win against them this weekend.Yippee! My Tigers swept the Twins.![]()

Speaking of which, the lowly, awful, Royals just got done taking 2 out of 3 IN Boston from that team we are not supposed to talk about on this thread.I'm so proud of them and now I just hope we can do something against the teams in our OWN division. It would be nice to not finish in last place like we have the last three years in a row.

Hmmm, cautiously optimistic I would say. The better feeling started when we hired Dayton Moore as our GM last season. Our young batters (Alex Gordon and Billy Butler) seem to be doing well though it took Alex Gordon seemingly forever to get on track (that first year in the Majors is often a tough one). In fact, if it was up to me, you would never see Mike Sweeney (when healthy) playing in place of Billy Butler ever again. What's the feeling about baseball in KC? It is such a great traditional baseball town. It seems that the local rags are picking up fewer of the AP stories about how pitiful the Royals are. Does that mean they're turning the corner? I remember growing up enjoying the George Brett teams. I liked Whitey Herzog as a manager too.
