The Official Non-Red Sox/Yankee Baseball Fan Thread

:p :p :p Had to go there, didn't ya? :sad2:

In all seriousness, I hope no Red Sox or Yankee fans think I have any problem with them or their teams. :) :) I really don't, honestly, I've just noticed a disparity of threads talking about those two teams versus everyone else. :)

Me too. In fact, I enjoy the rivalry. It is often baseball at its best. But they ain't the only teams out there.

Cool:thumbsup2 ...did you know that 2 of their players and the manager used to be with the Red Sox:lmao: :rotfl2:

In fact I did know that. In fact, wasn't that the manager who left Pedro in a little too long a few years ago.......?

Looks like there are a couple of good pitching matchups tonight. I like this time of season when teams are trying to get things turned on for the stretch run. The-rivalry-that-shall-not-be-named is starting to look as intriguing as any. Pressure bursts many pipes.

Understandable. ::yes::

And you'll understand, I hope, when I say that I keep waiting for the Tigers to hit a 10 game losing streak. ;) :teeth:

And hopefully you'll both understand that I want the Indians and the Tigers AND the Twins to hit a 20 games losing streak. Only thing is the White Sox would have to win 20 and we seem to have a hard time doing that this season. :rotfl:

Sorry:lmao: :rotfl2: ...but the Dodgers really are my other favorite team...and I can understand the need for this thread...there has been a rather large number of "those" thread lately:lmao:

Actually, the Dodgers were my favorite team growing up as well (the Steve Garvey / Ron Cey era). I'm not a native Clevelander -- my Indians loyalties only go back as far as when I moved here, which conveniently corresponded with about the same time that they got good. ;) :thumbsup2

lifelong Mets fan, but then I have lived in NY my whole life.

I actually go back a little further with them...I was a huge Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale fan when I was a young tike...but I also loved the Garvey/Cey era too.

Growing up in PA, 2 hours from Cleveland and 2 hours from Pittsburgh didn't give me choices that appealed to me as a kid in the late 70's/early 80's (even though the Pirates had decent teams back then). So for some reason, I picked the Dodgers. :confused3

I know I'm not supposed to be here......but a couple of questions.

You have one of my favorites - Derek Lowe! Attitude and all. I haven't followed how he's doing though.

Just curious - have Cleveland fans welcomed Trot Nixon? He was my favorite and I was sad to see him go. To be replaced with JD Drew (do you miss him Mayor??). We went to a game at Fenway when Trot came back this season wearing #33 for the Indians and there were actually quite a few fans there wearing #33 Nixon Indian shirts.

OK...I'll go back to Virgo's thread now :)

For the most part, fans like Trot -- he's a Cleveland kind of guy, hard working, no-nonsense ball player. He's been slumping as of late, so his playing time has been cut back lately and some rookies have been playing well, so that's cut down on it some more. I think for what the Indians needed (a veteran bat to platoon in left/right field), he's been a good fit. :thumbsup2

Does anyone want to venture a guess as to when Bonds will break the HR record? I know he's in a nasty slump, but I still say he'll git-r-done by August 12.

he hit one today.

I just wish he'd go ahead and get it over with. I don't approve of the steroid use, but the sooner he breaks it and rides off into the sunset, the sooner someone can come along and displace him.

My thoughts exactly.

This fits the thread.. I'd like to give a shout out to the Toronto Blue Jays today

Yippee! My Tigers swept the Twins.

I heard that Bonds just hit another. Go Barry.... go do what you must do, do it quickly, and then be on your way.
