The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

FF - I am up for anything, the parks may be hard with so many people and little ones. Downtown Disney is always a good idea, I think. We could definitely try dinner and/or Downtown Disney. They usually have some fun stuff going on down there. Food I am always up for, as you know! But seriously we are easy to please. I know at least at dinner, it would not interfere with Cam's naptime. I have to run and pick up Connor from school and then take my car in for new brakes. But I will be around this afternoon. So post any ideas you've got.

Robin, FF, Zalansky - think the kids and I could hide in your room :teeth: I think I'm gonna get just as excited as you guys, and I'm not even going. I hope you all get together, do the pirate trip and have a blast! I will live vicariously through you all.

Ryan :grouphug:

Robin - 70-80 stitches? ouch! Thanks for the Huggies lead, I'll have to check it out. I actually have been buying Target brand as of late, they work great! But huggies are my favorite. I have pampers points, but not enough to do anything with yet. So anyway, I'll stop rambling now

Gems - I had two successful v-bacs, but I was traumatized by the emergency c-section with dd so I was so afraid to do it again. Plenty have had much success with the c and would prefer it by far. I wish you luck in whatever method you choose. The most important thing is to have a healthy baby! Like the idea of online/catolog shopping and not having to run around while pg with a baby in tow!

zalansky - WL sounds great!

dizagain - do you have pics? That doll party sounds absolutely adorable. What a great mom you are to organize such a thing! Amazing. i don't know if I'd ever be so organized to do all that. Sorry Carson is giving you such a hard time. Leif was up today at 5 a.m. -- ICK. I would love to crawl back in bed!

gm - I hope stuff worked out at work!

Almost time to get DS from school. Take care!

Robin and Loretta,

Do you have anything in mind that you want to do for the days that we are all there? Do you want to meet up at a restaurant, visit a park together, meet up for tea at the GF? Downtown Disney? A special dinner, etc.

I'm not sure if we all have the same park touring styles, or if all of our kids would be happy at the same time. Do you want to attempt a park together or just meet up for something outside the parks?

I'm open to pretty much anything. I'm not a huge fan of the parks when they are walll to wall. There is so much to do at WDW.

Let me know. Give it to me straight. Tell me what your ideas are. :thumbsup2

My initial thoughts are these:

Parks- probably not a great idea to do a big outing at a park- you are right, our kids will all be different, on different schedules, etc. What I think might be an exception is if we plan on just say 2-3 hours in the AM or evening at MK. I can't resist a group shot of us all on a ride or in front of the castle. I think the kids could probably all agree on things like Buzz, some of the Fantasyland rides, Jungle Cruise, Pirates? My kids pretty much will do any of those kind of rides, at any time. :goodvibes

Restaurant- I think this would be fun! Maybe a bit hectic, but fun, esp if we picked one the kids all enjoy. Downtown Disney would be great- do your kids like Rainforest? My kids LOVE it, but DH HATES it....I could easily see grabbing my kids by myself and doing a Downtown Disney trip with y'all with lunch at RFC? Or if the kids want to do the Pirate Cruise, we could do lunch somewhere afterwards? Kona Cafe? Whispering Canyon? I have a hard time doing buffets with the 3 kids- I find it very draining and hectic, so that is the only thing I veto. (DH and I agreed to that for this trip, although I wish I could find away to get some of that salmon from Crystal Palace!).

I also think my DH would be totally OK with me doing something with 'just the girls' say on Sunday night (if your DHs can do the same). We could go somewhere just us and grab a drink or two and dinner? Even go to Epcot for dinner if you guys want? Or we could do tea at the GF instead?

I envision us maybe trying to get together the Sunday evening if possitble for a girls night (pending DHs of course), then trying to do something Monday morning together? Whether it's a park, DTD, the Pirate Cruise for the kids and us getting breakfast...; whatever, I'm easy. If your kids don't want to do the cruise, my kids can do it W or TH, no biggee. And if we're up for it, maybe one last meet on Tuesday morning? I know we all have our families to attend to, and I certainly don't expect us to try and meet up the entire time. Right now Molly usually naps for 2-3 hours in the afternoon, but her time can fluctuate as to when she goes down.

GLT- I wish I could sneak you in my suitcase! I wish all of us could meet up!

Robin,

Kona usually naps for about the same time in the afternoon-sometimes more sometimes less.

I think your ideas sound perfect! I will run this by DH. I agree, buffets are out. I love Kona cafe, we all love RFC (their bbq chicken pizza is so yummy!)

How late are the parks open that Sunday and Monday?

I will ask my kids about the pirate cruise as soon as they get home. I'm off to look at the WDW website.

:wave2:

Oh, I don't know why I remember this, but Gems, was Nucpharm your pal? If she was, I remember her posting a couple weeks ago that she got your exchange. Hopefully I am remembering correctly........

Nope, not me!

Well, we went and dropped off DH this am for his trip. So, I'm the single parent for the rest of the week! Yuck! Oh well--we have some stuff planned, so at least we'll be busy!

alice,z and FF--SO jealous of your meet!!!! Sounds like so much fun!

z--I can't believe that there was so much availability for that time period--We're going Easter week, so I just booked SSR b/c I figured everything else would already be booked and I didn't want to deal with waitlisting for BWV

I guess I should go and hang with Emma. She's almost done with lunch and getting restless. Have a great afternoon all!

nucpharm - I hate doing that single parent thing when DH is out of town.

diz - Glad the party was a success!

ryan - More prayers for your grandma.

gem - Good thinkin' doing all of your shopping early!

ff - What a good 35th Birthday present!!

Tyler is down for a nap so I should jump on the treadmill and then go take a shower.

I forgot to tell you guys that my brother taught Tyler to say "dude" while he was here. There are worse things he could have taught him, but now he walks around saying "dude" :) LOL

Tamie - That is so cute that Tyler says "dude". What a cutie :goodvibes !

nucpharm - I'm jealous of their meet too! Good luck being without DH this week. That's got to be hard.

gems - I would have been much better off if I had a c-section with Aidan. If I ever had another baby, I would probably request one out of fear of having another birth like Aidan's.

diz - Hannah's party sounds really cool. I can't believe they are already expecting snow in your area. I wouldn't be ready for that either!

Well, I started dieting today. Let's see how long it lasts  . My pants have gotten a little tight and I really want to take off a few pounds and get into shape. I was hurting after walking through Six Flags the other day. I just felt pathetic.

/
Well, I just lost another post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH! I had a great one typed out (if I do say so myself) :teeth:

I just feel very blessed today to have the kids that I have. DS and DD have been so good and they came out in the living room the other night to tell DH and me that they didn't want the PS3 for Christmas because it costs too much. We were debating if we should maybe buy it as one big present for the both of them (I can't even believe we were thinking about it.)

They both asked if they could have big gift cards to Walden Books instead. Isn't that just precious? It's the only book store we have around here and they have gotten to know the sales people by name because we go in there so much.

I just feel really lucky. We just got back our new PS2 from Sony-the other one quit working and they said they are perfectly happy with that.

They have a giant chart on the fridge that they were using to keep track of money they wanted to put toward the PS3 and they were really working hard and not buying or asking for anything extra.

I just wanted to share.

nucpharm,

I hate it when DH goes away. He has to go to Atlanta next month. He always gets to eat at the best restaurants and I just miss him when he's gone. Usually, if he has to go away, he will sing the little Mike Wazowski thing "Think romantical thoughts. You and me, me and you and both of us together" as he's leaving. It always makes me laugh.

Good afternoon, all. I have gotten completely frustrated trying to download photos today. I give up! I'll see what DH can do when he gets home--I'm praying for rain because I'm a bad mom and want Robert's baseball game cancelled.

FF--Isn't it nice when you realize that you're raising decent human beings? It's just one of those "precious mom moments". You must be doing something right! BTW, I'm jealous on the nights at AKL-that's my dream "someday when I have no kids" resort!

Gina--I had to tell you, I had Luke in the outfit you sent him today, and we had to go to the school because DH didn't make Jocelyn's lunch (ARRGH!) and I didn't realize until she'd left. Anyway, Luke was the hit of the school. He just looked darling--I'll have to take a picture of him in it when I clear my CF cards. Did I mention my frustration in downloading photos?

Gems--Generally, the recovery is easier with a V-birth, but not always. All 4 of mine were V--Jocelyn was the most pushing, of course, I tore very little with Robert, I tore a TON with Celeste (she was in a hurry--the doctor missed her!). And then Luke was my longest, hardest labor--go figure! Bottom line, I've known people to have "easy" c-section recovery, whatever works for you and your physician. No judgements here. And no bonus points for needing and/or not taking meds. I had thought that, once I had one V delivery, I'd been through the worst it could be--ha ha!

nucpharm--I have to second tamie on the "single parent" thing--DH is doing ANOTHER week of 12-hour days, 7 days next week. Yuck! At least we'll see him, a little, but it gets old, fast.

Alice - all of your ideas sound great. Especially the Sunday night plans. :thumbsup2 Of course, I will owe DH BIGTIME for that and I don't even want to think about what he will come up with as a trade-off. I also agree about maybe an evening at MK, a picture will be necessary at the castle, just like you said!
Also, I love RFC too, DH could do without it but he will go along with what I say. FF - my favorite item on their menu is the BBQ pizza!

Anyway just keep me posted with ideas.

If you guys are salad eaters, the China Island Chicken Salad at Rainforest is super good!!!

ff - How sweet are your kids! How awesome!

bnb - Sorry about your photo frustration!

diskim - Good luck with the dieting! I set a short term goal of losing 5 pounds before we go to DisneyWorld, I've lost 2 so far. 4 weeks left to go. Then after we get back I need to lose what I will have gained from Disney and 5 more before we go to Cozumel.

Tamie - I just had to share that my son Kevin was staring over my shoulder last night when I was on the computer. He saw the picture of Tyler and asked me who the "cute little boy with the pumpkin was?" I told him that was Tyler and his mommy was the one who did the growth charts. Then he kicked me off the computer to play a game.... ;)
WTG on the weight loss :woohoo:

I know I sound like a broken record but I can't believe i'm going to miss the "Mini-Mom's meet" by just a few days in March! I can't wait to hear all about it! It makes me ready to start to plan for our big mom's meet in 2008. Has anyone thought more about it, and when are we going to start to try and set up some kind of tentative idea of who is going, where to stay, where to meet up, etc....???

Gottalovethem - I have to tell you that your kids are just so adorable!!! They are so photogenic and they always seem to be smiling.

Jill - Sorry to hear about the 8 no-shows at your party over the weekend. I can't imagine all of the extra food you had! At least you'll be able to eat some of it this week (hopefully if it isn't the kind of food that spoils easily). The picture of the girls with John is cute - his shirt "Where is my Mummy" is just adorable!

Gems - LOL at your "Method of Delivery". I've had two Vag. births, so I don't know what the experience of a C-section would be. Good luck! I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone, it seems like only yesterday that you announced it to all of us!

Diskim - I am constantly talking about losing the rest of my babyweight. I finally started doing low carb last week and walking at night (even in the dark of night because that's the only time I can go). Unfortunately a "diet" usually doesn't get the weight off of me, it's the exercise. Well, in any case, i'm here to cheer you on! We can do it together! Tomorrow on my day off i'm planning on walking a 5K with an old friend while pushing the baby in his stroller.

Gotta run, more later!

Robin - I just watched the two recent episodes of Little People Big World....and I meant to ask you, do you live anywhere near that family? Do you know who I am talking about? I am almost positive they live in Portland.

Z- LOL at the favors for your DH. I already owe my DH many, many just for agreeing to this trip. Trouble is, I still am not in the mood....ever. Sounding like a broken record myself, ladies, DON'T DO DEPO! My stupid period still hasn't come, not to mention the whole libido thing is completely out of whack. DH was a bit moody last night about it and said, "I just should have had the vasectomy so we didn't have to go through all this with those shots." :confused3

FF- MK is open until 2AM the Sunday night! It's open til 11, and then another 3 hours for resort guests. I don't think so on the MK that night! Yikes. Epcot is open til the standard 9, MGM 7:30 and AK til 7. Monday MK is open til 10, Epcot, 9, MGM 10, and AK 7.

You're kids are very sweet- good job Mom! We also try hard to teach the kids the value of money and to try and appreciate what they have. I love that your kids want bookstore gift cards! That's awesome!

Hillbeans- I still want to do the 08 meet, but I don't think I will be there long, if at all due to this trip now in 07, and my trip to France with my mom sometime in 08. DH knows it's important to me though. If I am able to go, I will most likely stay at Shades; if I go by myself for just 2-3 nights, another mom (or 2 as there are 2 queens and a sleeper sofa) is welcome to bunk with me to offset costs. I think I only pay $103 a night for Shades. :thumbsup2 I can also sponsor up to two other rooms at SOG, but only for the amount of time I am there. Still, I hear the rooms are gigantic, beautiful, and the price is right.

Tamie- "Dude"---- I LOVE that! So, so cute. Good luck on the weight loss! I am still exercising 3-6 times a week and it's hard to lose that weight! I know I have lost some inches though, but the pounds are very slow to come off.

Hillbeans and Kim- good luck to you in your weight loss endeavors as well!

Tamie- I have had that salad at RFC- it is very good and I may get it again. I also like their grilled chicken sandwich. Their ribs, however, are not so hot. I am only about 600 points away on mypoints from a gift card from there- a goal to attain to get it! DH suggested I not bother getting it, but if the gals want to meet up there, then I will get it- I love having free gift cards for meals! :cool1:

Nucpharm, Tamie, BNB- I know how you feel about the single parent frustrations. DH has drill this weekend from Friday night to Sunday night. The kids have Friday off from school, so we are going to a pumpkin patch with Grandma and Grandpa that day and then nothing on SAturday, but both have soccer games Sunday AM. I'm so dreading it, as Molly's attention span lasts through about 2/3s of ONE game. :sad2: I will not be a happy camper if DH ever gets mobilized again, I can tell you that!

BNB- hope you are able to download your pictures soon- I know computer troubles can be so darn frustrating! I hate it when I can't figure out what the heck is going on!

Well, I got my Huggies at Target and some dish soap. How's that for exciting! The most exciting part is that I forgot to buy light bulbs. What a boring trip to Target. Then I went to Gymbo- geez, they were wiped out of the few things I wanted, so I had to pick out some different stuff. no biggee- just 2 shirts for Sam, 1 pant for Josh and a kitty purse for Molly. I really am liking more and more the Mix and Match line that came out about 2 months ago....I don't like the more recent stuff. I am thinking if it's still around for a Veteran's Day sale I may have to have a couple more items. I was HOPING they would still have a couple summer items in a 2T for Molly, but no such luck. I have about 3-4 outfits I bought in August on clearance for her for Florida but otherwise I will have to buy some stuff next March. Like that's so hard for me. :rotfl2:

Molly got her other eye infected with the pink eye. If she's not showing improvement by tomorrow afternoon I am bringing her in and will explain I had a full prescription of drops from last time, and they aren't working. Joshua is so good and opens his eyes so big and doesn't complain....Molly writhes like a snake and is as strong as an ox, so she's hard to even get the drops properly in her eyes.

Speaking of Molly, I do believe she has a stinky, so off I go to change it and hopefully but her down for naptime.

Hi there,

Robin,

As I suspected, DS doesn't want to do the Pirate Cruise. He'd probably be the oldest one there and he said he just doesn't want to do it. Sorry. DD said she would do it but then DS would be with us if we were going to do breakfast or something. PLEASE, do not let this influence your plans. I don't want you to change things just for me. If your kids and zalansky's kids want to it then please do it.

Hillbeans,

Don't feel bad. I hope we all get to see eachother in 2008. :cool1:

zalansky,

I received the VS coupon today!! THANK YOU! I have been there a lot lately trying to find the right bra for me.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

lissawynn,

I received my exchange package today. THANK YOU. I had so much fun opening it! Kona dumped all of the candy out of the bucket and put the bucket on her head. :rotfl: I love the towels and potholders, the outlet thing from White Barn Candle Co., the notepad and all the goodies. I lost one Kit Kat to the heat but I still have all the others. It is still so hot down here. I toook 2 packages of the SourPatch kids with me to eat while I was in the parent pick up line at school. Thanks so much. It was nice getting surprise box of goodies. :thumbsup2

zalansky,

I'm ROFL about your favors comment. It's funny how we all seem to owe our DH's. He's going to be in debt to me big time when he finds out what I'm getting him for Christmas.

tkyes,

Your trip to Cozumel sounds like so much fun. I know it doesn't make much sense but I want to go someplace warm for a tropical vacation. :teeth:

We are hoping to go to the keys sometime next year to take the kids to the Fort they have down there. I want to stay at the Sunset Key cottages in the Keys but the only time the prices are even close to doable is when it's really hot out.

Yet another post from me

Robin,

I'm sorry about the Depo issues. I feel bad that you have to go through that. Does your Dr. say when it will go away? The Essure has been a blessing and given us a sense of freedom we didn't have before  . I hope you get to experience that soon. Do you have to wait for AF before you can get your HSG?

Hey ladies. I just wanted to pop in and tell you I'm finally caught up with my school stuff. I have graded all of my papers and recorded all of my grades.

I am still feeling kinda crappy. I have a terrible headache and I'm thinking it's sinus related. I have a drs. appointment tomorrow and will ask him what to do next. I'm also going to relate my experience with the nasty witch of a nurse.

floridafam - I'm happy you received your package and only one Kit Kat was lost in transit. I hope you enjoy your goodies.

I have to get ready for my DH and the electrician to tear up my home. Can you feel the excitement in my voice?

FF - don't worry about your DS not wanting to do the cruise. Connor will only just be 4 years old so I know he would like it but I am not sure if he'd go without us. Also glad you got the coupon! :thumbsup2

Yes, I have to wait for Aunt Flo to come before I can get the HSG. Something about how it needs to be exactly 8 days after Aunt Flo arrives- must have something to do with the uterine lining?

To be honest, I was 'in the mood' a LOT when DH first came home and then this darn Depo has basically screwed us up since April. I have either had periods for a month at a time or have not wanted to be touched. It sucks.

That's OK that your DS doesn't want to go on the cruise, I totally understand. Sam will be 9, and he was like, "Whatever, sure" about it, but DH was insistent he go with his brother. They would probably rather just swim, but I'm not arguing the fine points with DH about this trip! LOL! Z- just let me know if you think Connor wants to go. I was probably going to make my reservation for it soon. They still might go that day anyway, as I think we were going to take a break from the parks that day, unless it was just to hop to MK for a few hours in the afternoon.

Guess what- I think our kitty ran away. The gray and white one. He's been sick, with the ear mites and it wasn't getting better....I was going to call the vet today, but I could never find him! He usually prowls around in the AM, but is back here by 11 or so....I'm a bit worried that that ear was septic and he's off dying in a corner somewhere....the same thing happened yesterday, but he ended up coming home around 2- when it was too late to try and squeeze the vet in. DH totally cleaned his ears out yesterday and I seriously about gagged- we thought they were better, but I guess not. You would think between the mite medicine and the antibiotic, it would have killed it. :guilty: I feel so bad....

lissawynn- glad you are all caught up on your school stuff! sounds like you were a great exchange pal for FF! I hope you and your doctor are able to come up with a solution to your ongoing cold. :wizard:
