Ryan- We flew into Long Beach airport one time and Ontario the other times. It was pretty convenient and cheap. We stayed off property, but were across the street from DL and CA. There are a lot of hotels right across the street. I think we were in the Best Western. It was really nice and clean, and we had free internet access as part of our room. I think two days in DL and one day at CA is probably good. Every time we’ve gone to CA it’s been pretty empty, so you can get around the park really quickly. Oh, and don’t miss the Aladin show at DL.. it was much better than I expected, and one of my favorite things you could do at DL but not WDW (also good for your little guys).

Jill- I can’t believe John is almost 1 already!

DisKim- That house is beautiful! Sorry you’re not going to make it to NC. Funny about your visit to the DVC. We did the presentation and thought it was very low pressure. They actually encouraged us to take the materials home with us and think it over. I guess it depends what salesperson you get. We were pretty interested in doing it, but with DH working for ABC it still works out cheaper to use his discount for rooms. DVC was offering like a 10 or 15% discount off the regular price, but when you added up the maintenance fees, the cast member discount was still cheaper. The rooms are beautiful though!

GLT- Glad you liked the birthday cake. I actually thought about making a cake today, but I had no time. We DVRed the Mets game tonight and are watching it now. Yesterday’s game was great, though I missed the end because of my class. I loved when they threw out two guys at home plate on the same play. Too funny!

We got a bunch done today on the frankencouch, and I cooked twice! DH’s uncle came to help us out with replacing our dining room fixture, and he’s going to come back on Saturday morning. I’m exhausted. We had some really hard rain last night, and it was the first time I’ve heard the rain so badly in this house. It kept me awake a little, and then I whimped out and let Olivia sleep in our bed for awhile. I don’t want to get in that habit, especially since we only have a queen sized bed, but she was so cute and snuggly! She started eating veggies today (sweet potatoes) and that went well. I can’t believe how much she’s eating all of a sudden. She’s become obsessed with the pirate balloons from our party. It’s pretty funny watching her try to get the balloon down towards her mouth.

OK, going to bed now. I’m just too tired, and it’s going to be another long day tomorrow!

I finally have a moment tonight to post again. The kids were just little whirling dervishes tonight. And Sam pulled every mom's favorite trick....At 9:05 he pulls out this packet, "Oh, Mom, I was supposed to finish this in order to have Friday Fun tomorrow..." He had 6 pages to do! ARGH! It was seatwork he hadn't finsihed in class....I almost wanted to punish him and say, "Sorry!" But, of course I let him sit for 40 minutes and wrap it up.

Hey- have I mentioned I am so freaking excited to be able to stay at the Poly? I wanted to stay there since our honeymoon, but DH poo-pooed it because he stayed there TWICE as a kid/teen and thought it was cheese-ville. He has since realized it's not so cheezy and is one of the nicer resorts. We're just so excited to be on the monorail again, AND to be so close to the TTC epcot line too! And I am hoping the tiki torches, the Hawaiian music, the smiling CMs will slightly fulfill our Hawaii dreams too. No ocean, but just about everything else will be dreamy!

I am hoping when the kids are more teen-age we can stay at the Beach Club. I think then they will appreciate Epcot and MGM more.

Gina- I love snuggling with the kids in bed when they're babies too....in fact, all three of our kids co-slept with us until 6 months. Molly til 9 months since DH was gone until then...I couldn't bear for her to be downstairs and me up.

Sounds like your DH gets a killer discount for the resorts! When you said only $165 for the Poly I just about fainted! I could totally swing that for most trips!

GLT- hope you enjoyed your second slice of cake! I made that lemon cake tonight and had a big wedge. :p It was nummy.

Kim- that is so cute about Aidan- Molly is a dancer too, and she gets this really funny look on her face. She just KNOWS how cute she is. She went to preschool with me today and she's ALL ABOUT the baby dolls, baby strollers, dress up necklaces, the kitchen....she's just such a girl! It's so strange to me! The kids got a toy catalog in the mail, and I kept flipping the pages for her to see what she liked more- Transformers or My Little Pony. She FREAKED over all the pink ponies! She would get irritated and quickly flick off the Transformers page. Everyone has told me how she will be a tomboy with two big brothers. I will tell you what, she is a TOUGH girl, but she likes her girl stuff! So far anyway! princess:

Well, I think tomorrow I am going to call for our Whispering Canyon and California Grill ADRs. Maybe Narcoossee's too, but I'm not sure that's in such high demand. We are still holding off on 'Ohana....I'm just not sure I want to do it again. I liked Kona Cafe's food way more, but we were lucky the one time we ate at Ohana and got a window table when the fireworks were going off. It was pretty neat!

Nucpharm- After you wrote that, I remembered you said you were getting there Good Friday...darn. I will leave you a secret note somewhere... :rotfl2:

OK, well, it is time to go brush my teeth and curl up in bed. DH and I are watching a snack food special on the History channel. Not good. It's all chocolate, candy and salty snacks. Guess who wants stuff she's not supposed to have now! :sad2:

OK, I was considering still going to NC since Emmy and Alex were better last night. I flick on the news this morning and there is a huge chemical fire in Apex and they evacuated half the residents. That's where my house is so I guess I can't go this weekend to buy it. Oh well! Emily is mad that we're not going and she just stormed off and called me a "meanie". She can be so difficult sometimes. Meanwhile, Alex is only 6 but he'll understand why we're not going. Sometimes I can't believe how spoiled Emily can be. She just wants to go so she can see the dinosaur museum in Raleigh.

Diskim--I just saw this on the news as well, and thought it was a good thing that you cancelled your trip. It was pretty funny, though, the report came on about the evacuation of Apex and all--and I said to DH "well, it so good that Kim had to cancel her trip" He looked at me crazy "Who's Kim?? :confused3 " I just laughed, he doesn't really get the Dis thing--but he indulges me with this one thing though :teeth:

Alice--I'm glad you are so excited about your trip. Everytime we have Chef Mickey's bfast we take the monorail all the way around to get to MK, and when we pass the Poly I think how fun it would be to stay there--maybe in another life (especially since we own DVC--maybe the DVC at the contemp. rumors will come true, and we'll finally be able to stay at a monorail resort!)

gina--cooking twice and recovering a couch--You go girl! :woohoo:

glt--last night actually went really well--dsis stayed long enough to put her daughter to bed, so all I had to do was nighttime duty--unfortunately, dniece woke up around 11 and didn't want to go back to sleep--think she was weired out by her surroundings. So we pulled the Pack and play into our room,a nd she slept much better. But, no, it still does not make me want another one (at least for a LONG time!)

WEll, gotta start getting ready for our outing today. We're heading to the pumpkin patch for pick-your-own pumpkins, hayride, and picnic--luckily my mom is coming a long to help wrangle the kids! Chat later-smelling a poopy diaper!

Alice- I love when kids forget about homework until the last possible second. DBro once did this while we were both in college, and that was the worst! He dictated the ideas for a term paper to me and I typed it out a couple of hours before his class. That was awful!

DisKim- Good thing you cancelled the trip after all.

Nucpharm- Have a great day at the pumpkin patch!

It’s another rainy gloomy day here. It’s suppose to clear up and be nice for the weekend though. DH and I watched the Mets game last night and then I just passed out. I’m too tired lately. I’m thinking about trying to get to bed by 10 pm or so tonight. So if I don’t check in tonight, hopefully it’s because I got all my work done and went to bed.

PS, not holding my breadth on that one. I’m sure I’ll be back later!

:goodvibes Good morning everyone and TGIF!!! :cool1:

Alice & FF - what days are you thinking about meeting up in March? And holly, would you be staying overnight or just going for the day? I would DEFINITELY be up for meeting up and would even book a room for a night at DVC...but want to see what your plans are first. Are we within the 7 month window yet? Because I would not mind trying for a Wilderness Lodge villa, though that may be spring break and not possible....but I am sure I can get one night anywhere since you guys will be there for so many nights. Let me know.

GLT - I didn't get anything from Disney Shopping - I called because I had ordered Connor 2 polos and when they came thry were too small so I shipped them back and asked for them to be exchanged to the next size up. Well, they never shipped them out because one of the colors was out so they are shipping me the other one today, free of charge! Yippee!! How are the kids doing?

Jill - I can't believe John will be one soon either! For some reason I thought he was younger than that but now in retrospect I recall he isn't! Time flies!!! Our babies are growing too fast. Boo hoo!!!!!

Anyway, I better go. Our new mattress was just delivered and I need to set up the bedding on it. My ladies night out was another success last night....we ended up not paying for anything again! But I drank 3 beers (which I normally do not drink because they bloat me) so I feel tired this morning. But not near as bad had I drank hard liquor so I am good to go.

See you all later, when Cam is napping I will be back. :p

Hi all. I wanted to let you know I came to work today. I still feel like garbage, but I had a few things that I really needed to do.

I have no internet connection at home. I spent 2 flipping hours on the phone with Verizon yesterday and after that 2 hours, the man who barely spoke intelligible (sp?) English, told me the problem was my router and not the modem. I think he's full of crap and am calling them back today when I get home.

I hope you are all well and maybe I'll get caught up sometime later.

Kim- I'm sorry Emmy was difficult about not being able to go to NC. Every once in awhile Sam shows glimmers of preteen-dom and I'm like, "Oh boy....here we go...." That's too bad about the fire- I guess it was meant to be that this weekend wasn't a good one to go. Maybe next weekend? Do you get a day off for Columbus Day?

Loretta- it's less than 7 months already! About 5.5! I would be so, so excited if we could do a mini-meet! :Pinkbounc  We could go to a park for a few hours, or swim, or shop and we must have a big pineapple drink at the Poly lounge! :teeth:

GM- That term paper fiasco sounds like it was a real treat....

Nucpharm- Does your sister still think they can fix their car/truck this weekend? What a terrible time they are going through right now. :guilty:

lissawynn- how frustrating about your internet! I hate that! Hopefully you can get some more rest this weekend.

Hi to Tamie, Joats, Hillbeans, Tasha, Bellacam, Justhat, and other mommies who haven't been able to post too much in the last couple of days!

Well, I just made two more dining ressies. We have Whispering Canyon our first Friday night (well, our only Friday night as I guess we leave the next Friday) and California Grill for our date night the last night. I still need to figure out a day to do Narcoossee's....I just hate booking up a lot of our nights already, you know? I asked the reservation lady if Narcoossee's booked up fast and of course she said yes. Sigh. I'm usually type A planner for all this stuff, but I just don't want to do that this vacation. I can't even think of where I want to eat at Epcot, which is usually fun to decide. I just figure something will appeal to us, and if we go at an odd time for lunch we can hopefully get squeezed in.

I am hungry, so I guess I will go find something for breakfast. Today is kind of another busy day that I'm not too eager about....I need to go pick up my portraits at the mall, go to the preschool again for 2.5 hours, find some black shorts for Sam for soccer, Josh's practice is tonight at 5:30....not too much downtime today, and I have grown to savor that lately. Oh well, just one more training day at the preschool on Monday morning and I don't have to go back until she needs me to sub.

Hi Mommies,

DisKim,

You are the first person I thought of when I saw that on the news this morning. That must be a pretty bad situation.

I really hope you get your wish and are able to move down there. Didn't you say your DH would have his masters in March? Moving over the summer may work out very well for you. I may have asked you this before but what does your DH want to do for a job once he gets his masters?

lissawynn,

Sorry you have no internet at home. :guilty: I'm lost without my internet. :teeth:

Robin and Zalansky,

I have no problem booking a room for one or two nights if it is available. We may use our DVC points or just try to get a FL resident rate somewhere. I know the kiddos and I could come over there. DH may have to work or he may think I'm completely loony going to see someone I know from the internet. He doesn't get the whole DIS thing. :confused3 :teeth:

Robin,

Can you give me your dates again?

I need to get some lunch. I didn't eat breakfast this morning and am really hungry. We've all had upset stomachs the past few days. Not much planned for this weekend. DH has "Comcast Cares" day tomorrow all day-they are re-doing a local boys and girls club that is in pretty bad shape. We may go help out with that.

Sunday, he has to attempt a 100 mile bike ride to see if he is prepared for the Ironman next month. He said he is going to cancel if he bonks on this ride Sunday. He hasn't been able to get in as much training as he likes and something ALWAYS goes wrong right before a race that totally goofs him up.

I called the septic company yesterday for the 4th time and told the girl that we just wanted to know what was going on and she said she would call me back and hasn't. :confused3 HOW MANY TIMES AM I SUPPOSED TO CALL THESE PEOPLE?

Kona is freaking out right now. There is a lizard crawling on our window and she's jumping up and down. She just loves those things.

I gotta share a little funny for the moms on this thread that watch the reruns of BH 90210. I was making a PB&J yesterday and started singing the peanut butter and jelly song. DS starts singing "Brenda, Dyland and Kelly-Brenda, Dylan and Kelly" to the same tune as the PB&J song. My DH pretended to throw up and we all had a good laugh. DS just rolls his eyes when I watch that.

Be back later.

One more thing....

Can you please PM me if your exchange package has gone out? Thanks. :thumbsup2

Hi mommies! I still don't have time for a proper post, but I wanted to let you all know my nephew and sister were able to go home yesterday!!! He is doing really well for being 5 weeks early. He did look a little jaundice on Wednesday but his levels were low enough that it didn't become an issue. He is so cute and such a little peanut! I remember having to brace myself when someone handed Aidan to me, but James is so tiny he feels like a doll! I will try to catch up again when I can and post a pic if my sisters ok with it. I hope you all enjoy your Holiday Weekend!!!!

Hey all! Just back from a wonderful day at the pumpkin patch this Morning. :sunny: We took a hayride, picked what Emma deemed "the perfect pumpkin", and had a picnic lunch. Now, I'm trying to get the kids to nap, but it's not going well.

alice, ff, and z--so sad that I'll miss meeting up with you guys! Wish I could move our vacation back a week or so--but with the Gulf part of our vacation booked through Hotwire, nothing doing! Oh well!

lissawyn--sorry to hear that you had such problems with your internet and the service person. Hope you're feeling a tad better today!

Here are some pics of our excursion (hope they aren't too huge)

Good afternoon all! I have a few minutes before things get crazy here again...

bellacam--what great news on your nephew! It must be nice to hold a peanut--they grow so fast. Glad he's doing well.

Kim--Yeah, I'm thinking if they're still evacuating the town, it may not be a good time to visit! Seriously, how could you possibly get a real "feel" for the place? Plus, everyone could probably use a chance to rest up after being sick. I do hope everything works out for you.

Robin--You're going to LOVE the Poly! You can request a building a few days before your arrival--we always prefer the Tahiti building (close to the TTC), and the first floor, so you can walk right out. We were able to let the middle two kids run around on the grass while we watched from the room, nursing or having coffee or whatever. This last trip, we were in Rapa Nui, also close to the TTC, but the first floor rooms facing toward Tahiti (rather than the parking lot) are all handicap rooms. We wouldn't care, except the shower was terrible--the hose thing kept turning and spraying the room, and water pressure was low.

About the DVC stuff--I've been doing research on the various threads/sites, but I wanted to ask here because you ladies have young children. I'm looking at the whoel "family of 6" thing, where hotels are getting trickier. Also, I have that inheritence coming in at some point that DH says I can spend any way I want (!!!). OTOH, up until now, MIL has been paying for all our Disney trips, so it may be worth it to let that continue. And I really don't care for SSR, which is the only one open right now. yeah, I know there are wait lists--I'm just going over it in my mind, that's why I wanted some feedback. Then again, if one of the rumors is true and they add villas at AK or the Contemporary, I'm in! So I want to be prepared. Anyway, I appreicate your comments. We'd need a good block of points, though, since we'd need the 2 bedroom villa.

Floridafam - I could and would probably go over just myself and the kids too, DH would have to work and will also think I am insane for wanting to meet people from the DIS. So we'd have that in common. Didn'y you guys meet with Janet2k one time and do one of her very cool parties she does? I could swear I remember reading one of her TR's and seeing your name mentioned. Anyway, I've still got 151 points in my use year which is August...what dates would work for you? Naturally any other than Fri & Sat because of the high points.

nucpharm - great pics! Emma and Matthew look soooooo much alike!

I had a very productive day today. We did not have students. Instead we got professional development hours for working cooperatively on an assessment. My friend and I decided to work together and we came up with a really great project. It felt good to get something done.

FF - I sent you a pm. DH will have his Master's degree in "Computers and Education". He is basically learning to implement technology into school districts. He can also facilitate online classes, etc. He decided to complete that program because it would be faster than any other program. Then, he is going to get his supervisory certificate. I think he only needs 3 more classes for that.

nucpharm - What adorable pictures!!

Robin - Yes, we get off for Columbus Day. That's why we were going to go to NC this weekend.

The weather is so ugly and cold here today. I just want to relax tonight but I'll probably start tearing my upstairs bathroom apart. It's supposed to get nice out so we'll probably head out to the pumpkin patch and to Fright Fest at Great Adventure which is always a blast.

I really want an ice cream sundae with strawberries and wet walnuts right now. I just figured I'd share that with everyone.

Well, I had a huge post typed up and lost it. UGH!

zalansky,

Yes, that was us at Janet2K's party. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is just the sweetest, nicest person you could ever meet. Her and her family are so laid back and welcoming. We had a blast! I almost fainted when we were sitting there and Mickey Mouse came cruising around the lagoon on a boat and then came to meet the kids that were at the party. We still talk about it all the time.

We don't have any points until next year but it doesn't matter. I'll see what's available. Our use year is April but I think we can use our points starting in the January of our use year, right? I always get goofed up on that.

zalansky- Enjoy the new bed!

Lissawynn- Sorry your internet connection is messed up. :sad2:

nucpharm- Great pictures. The pumpkin patch looks like it was fun. We're doing that on Sunday before we go to 6 Flags.

DisKim- hehehe- it looks like we have the same weekend plans! :sunny: I could go for an ice cream sundae too, but I'm waiting for my DH to come home with dinner. Mmmm, turkey and avadado wrapper. :cloud9:

Ladies, I went to Target today with my mom, and I only spent $5. What a test of self control! I met with another set of potential clients, so hopefully they'll agree to my fee. It's a big job with the potential for additional work after it's done so my fingers and toes are crossed. If I can keep getting a couple of new clients a week, then I'll be set! :Pinkbounc

Hi everyone! :sunny:

Just a quick post here to say hi! All of our in-laws have safely arrived and the festivities for the weekend are underway. :teeth: I'm trying to cook and read my textbooks at the same time which is quite a sight!

I also found out today that I passed another licensing exam! :cheer2: :cheer2: I'm so relieved! That leaves me with one more exam to take.

DisKim - I saw the chemical explosion on the news this morning and I thought of you. Gosh, I'm glad you aren't going this weekend!

Lissawynn - Sorry to hear that your internet was out.

Floridafam - I think I remember reading that trip report of Janet2K's. I loved that report and thought that she sounds like such a special person.

Nucpharm - I love the new pictures of the kids!

Ginamarie - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get the new clients!

GLT - Your exercise class sounds great! I need to get on the ball and get back to Pilates.

Robin - Continue to keep us posted on your Disney plans! I'm drooling over your ADRs!

I'm sorry that I am missing a lot of you wonderful ladies. :guilty: I'm operating on fumes at the moment and my bed is calling me. I hope that everyone is doing well! :grouphug:

Hi to Zalansky (glad to hear your ladies night was fun!), Hillbeans, Tamie, Val, SL, Gems, Ryan840, BNBmom, J&D, Joats, Tasha, Cabmom, Gretchen, DisneyPhD, Bellacam, Justhat, dizagain, fabumouse and everyone! :wave2:

Have a great weekend!

Good evening all! Fridays have turned into my crazy busy day due to dance class at 3:45 - but Madeleine continues to be pretty mellow during it. She did have a massive poo while we were there - which is always fun to deal with while in public.

Nucpharm - the one nice thing about the video games is it's kind of a fun thing for him to do with Kailey, especially on a rainy day. The downside is that we had some very heated negotiations about how *late* he would stay up and play and then be overly tired the next morning. Loved the photos!!

And once my DH counted up the trips to WDW, his eyes started bugging out a little. So to appease him I made an extended vacation plan that includes some of the places he'd like to go, too. :teeth: But I'm so excited because I'm booking our flight soon - we use DH's travel points so the earlier the better.

Justhat - poor Madison's finger. :guilty: But congratulations on the three pounds! I'm a little freaked out by my body right now because it's pulling itself back together and the skin is starting to tighten up, but I feel like there's a new me each week and it isn't exactly what I ordered. :rolleyes1 Yayyyy about Christmas!!

Robin - LOL about the bikini wax. I was lurking on this thread when it was discussed. A Target gift card is *perfect* idea! He gave out money to the kids for a bake sale at the school last week. I had no idea the kids were even going to be involved. Oooops. :p

And I'm also excited to stay at the Poly!! I convinced DH by reminding him that the kids will love the lobby. :Pinkbounc

Lissa - no internet connection??? :faint:

Ginamarie - maybe we'll end up on the same cruise! We haven't decided when we're going - but I keep watching the cruise threads to see if the dates have been released.

Dizagain - we have the same budget issue. DH gets his bonus at the very end of December, which is rough because we don't quite know what it's going to be and there's always the stress of wondering if I bought too much during the holidays.

Ryan - what about the Lost commercials???

GLT - Your muffin praises are making me hungry. popcorn:: I'm so jealous of your exercise class - I really miss the gym and it will be another few months before I can be away from Madeleine long enough to get back to mine.

Jill - Those baby books are rough - I love my scrapbooks, but some days it would easier to throw everything into a box. :thumbsup2

FF - that would be great if you were at WDW for the 2008 marathon!! Good luck convincing your dh.

Bellacam - that's great news about the baby!!! :woohoo:

Oh, we call Madeleine "Pigsnort". :teeth:
