Nucpharm,
Glad to hear you made it safe and sound :) . My dh sometimes proofreads over my shoulder too. It makes me feel like he's listening in on a phone call or something ;) .

Hillbeans,
I love those nice long naps too :cloud9: . I have always wanted a Roomba. Do you guys like it?

Tamie,
I would say the nair application lasted a good two to three weeks. You must be getting so excited for your trip  .

Loretta,
That's great that your sis will be around longer :)!

Robin,
Thanks for explaining the dining thing to me. We did often use CS to order and adult CS for both kids to split. I guess I have a lot of time to decide though. Part of me is holding out to see if maybe just maybe they do the free dining option again this year :wizard: .

Justhat,
I hope you get some good rest tonight and that Henry enjoys sleeping in his crib. I'm so scared to cut Katrina's bangs. I am not so good at even lines :rolleyes1 .

Phd,
Every trip to Disney is a good reason to be excited :thumbsup2 . Have fun packing :) .

FF,
That does sound like a good deal on the diapers :thumbsup2 . Unfortunately I think I'm spoiled on our grocery store brand that go on sale buy 1 get 2 free. I buy them by the case when they go on sale as they work out to less than $3.00 a package.

Diskim,
Sorry to hear about your friend's FIL. What a rough time of year for it to happen too.

GM,
Hope you are feeling better and I hope you make it to the finals of the Wasabi game! That would be really neat if one of our moms won the grand prize.

GLT,
I'm glad your ex was okay. Hope ds is all better and won't throw up anymore (and that the other two won't start).

Well, I should probably get some sleep but for some reason I am totally wired. Of course I'll be regretting it tomorrow when we have to get back into the school/ work routine. Maybe I will go peruse the resorts board and dream about where to stay on our 30th birthday trip... I'm thinking the Contemporary would be really neat because I just love the look of the refurbished rooms and the locale is good as well. But I would also love to try WL and AKL although if we did AKL I would want the Savannah view. And I did love POFQ and wouldn't mind staying there again. Choices. Choices ;) .

TTYL  .

He guys.... just wondering if anyone is interested in doing a Valentine's Day exchange? We had so much fun with the Halloween and Christmas ones!

Our item on ebay just sold for over $300. I just had to share.

I might be up for the Valentine's exchange.

That's awesome Holly! Send your good ebay pixie dust my way. I'm up to $129 on my clothes, with a day and a half to go. I have 32 watchers now on that one set. Amazing. I hope they bid it up to $80, lol.

GM- I may have to sit out the V-day exchange. I just really need to buckle down with some spending from now til WDW. I just know the next two paychecks are tight, so since our next payday with a lot of wiggle room isn't until the beginning of Feb., it wouldn't be wise of me to participate. :sad1:

Did I tell you gals that my MIL gave us a nice check for our anniversary? We celebrate 12 years on the 14th of this month, and my parents are taking the kids for us for a day and a half on either the 12th or the 19th (we haven't decided yet). DH will get off work around noon or so, then we'll go to our favorite downtown Embassy Suites, have some 'fun', swim in their cool indoor pool, and I think we want to go to Shula's for dinner. They have one in Portland! :thumbsup2 We enjoyed our steaks thoroughly when we dined in WDW a few years ago. On Saturday we will enjoy the free breakfast buffet at the hotel and then go shopping at the upscale districts downtown that the kids don't do well at....then we'll stop for a casual late lunch/early dinner somewhere and then go get the kiddoes. She gave us enough money to cover the hotel, dinner at Shula's and probably enough for lunch/dinner the next day. :cool1: I thought that was really nice of her. :cloud9:

And my parents also got another monetary blessing....they got a surprise deposit in the 5-figure range in their checking account from social security. They aren't totally sure what for, as my dad JUST qualified for it last week, but he had to quit his job early due to an on the job injury....he's thinking it might be back pay or something? (when he went to the SS office a couple months ago, he said something about he had to retire a bit early due to an on the job injury that made him unable to perform his regular duties...my dad had to do desk work the last year of his job and he HATED it).:confused3 I was like, "Why aren't you out shopping!!!" They are being cautious as they're afraid it may be taken out again, which could happen I suppose. But wow- I sure would love to look at my checking account and see that amount in it  . Anyway, I just thought that is so cool if it's for real.

Val- I just have to add that I've only stayed at CR, POFQ and WL.....I loved them all for different reasons, but the CR cannot be beat for location! We LOVED walking to the MK and taking the monorail to Epcot, etc. And the new decor looks incredible! What fun for you to get to plan things out. If you go in Sept/Oct again, I know sometimes WL and AKL have incredible rates for that time of year! And obviously with all my whining about the WL, I love it too!

Robin,

When my mom and dad started getting their SS, they both got huge!! checks right off the bat and it was for basically back pay or something. My dad didn't apply until he was 70 to get the max benefit and they gave him his monthly pay starting the day he turned 70 or something like that. Does that make sense? I'll have to ask him exactly how that works. My mom also got one because she applied at the same time. I think it was well over $20,000 or close to it. My mom gets 1/2 of what my dad gets (she never really worked full time and you usually get what you earned or 1/2 of what your DH gets if it is more.)

Anywho, what a great surprise for them. I would love to wake up and see a surprise check in our account.

Holly- Yeah, it was close to 20K for my dad too! He just turned 62 last week and the SS office told him not to expect a check until February or something like that!

To top it off, my silly dad says, "And I don't need anything, so I can't think of anything to spend it on!" I said, "I CAN!" And he laughed and said, "I bet you can."

My parents are truly blessed though. They worked hard their entire lives, and then also kind of lucked out on their (both sets) parents having significant amounts of money to pass on when they died. I'm happy to see them 'livin in up' now that they're retired. They're thinking of taking an impromptu trip to Paris, as airfare from portland is $236 each way right now!!!!! Isn't that insane! They can fly to Paris cheaper than to Hawaii! I said, "GO FOR IT!" I bet they won't do it though....

Hi, everyone! We got back last night around midnight.

Looks like we had some drama here. I didn't realize our thread had so many lurkers.

Although our trip had some good moments, it was filled with many moments that I would like to forget. Every time I kept asking if the trip could get any worse, it did. Jenna chipped a tooth, my nephew left his pillow in one of the hotels (which we were able to pick up on the way home), one of our hotel reservations was cancelled without us being notified, our family got separated in the crowds twice, I got horrible blisters on my feet, multiple parks were closed (at capacity) very early in the day, crowds were horrible (we've been two other times during the same time frame and the crowds were not as bad), people were arguing over places in line to see the characters,...................................................................................:sad2:

On top of that my team was eliminated from WPASADI and Jenna threw up today.

Happy New Year! I'll try to catch up more later. I need to get some rest.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to post quickly to let you all know we survived NYE. Everyone in my house is sick from a bug we picked up at the ILs. Needless to say they never mentioned the flu was going around their place. Nice of them to let their pregnant DIL know that, huh?
Jimmy has been a terror at night and does NOT want to be alone in his new room.
Returning to work today might actually be a respite for me from the holidays.

I hope you're all enjoying 2007! I'll try to be back some time later today.

I had another headache all day yesterday. I'm getting tired of this and I'm calling the dr as soon as the office opens this morning. NYE was fine and the video was a smash hit. DH and I left with Lucas around 9:30 and we played board games until midnight.

llij & DisKim - I'm so sorry about your losses.

gm - I think I'm going to opt out of the Valentines Day exchange. I have a feeling school is going to be keeping me busy and since it's my first semester I want to get back into the swing of classes. Thanks!

J&D - Welcome back! Sorry you had so many bumps in your trip. Hope Jenna feels better soon.

I have some stuff to catch up on at work since I left early on Friday. I'll try to pop in again later. Have a great day. :hippie:

J&D--so sorry you had so many bad moments on your trip! I hope you were able to salvage a little!

alice--Yeah, for your dad and the extra $$$!!! I meant to mention before, but I hope you can get the hotel situation figured out! It really stinks that the pool at WL won't be open when you are there--what "wonderful" planning on their part to refurb. the pool during peak season--Great idea!

val, diskim, and all the other heading back to work--Hope today goes great for ya'll! DD wanted to know this am why DH had to go to work. She got spoiled with DH being here for the past 10 days.

glt--I sent you a pm--Oh my, on xh getting in an accident! Glad he's okay though--maybe he'll have a new outlook after this

ff--score on the Ebay sale!!

gina--I'll have to think about the V-day exchange--We're also trying to watch our $$$--with buying plane tickets, having to renew my gym membership, and paying off xmas--money will be tight--we'll see!

Well, I'm off to babysit today. The mom of the baby I normally sit for is sick, but the I'm sitting for the child of the lady working for the sick mom--The little girl is 2 1/2 so I'm hoping she'll play with Emma--making my job easier! Chat later!

Good Monday morning all.....

Dh is back at work but Connor doesn't start until tomorrow. I am sort of sad the holidays are over but also relieved in a way so I can put some of the sadness behind us and start putting decorations away!

J&D - welcome back! Sorry to hear about the mishaps on your trip. I had thought the crowds would be high because WDW blocks out our seasonal passes during the week of Xmas and Easter due to crowd capacity. Its good to see you back!

FF - way to go on your Ebay sale! You have inspired me! I should spend my day listing....

nucpharm - have a good day babysitting.

Robin - I am jealous of your Dad's extra money! I wonder if I will ever get any SS? What did your Dad do for a living? If you don;t mind me asking, of course!

lissa - UGH, the flu? I cannot believe it when people allow others to come over when they're sick. That stinks! Hope you feel better soon.

Vald - did you have fun on the resorts board? Any thoughts on where you'll stay, I mean did you make a decision? I guess its best to wait and see how the rates are.

diskim - sorry about your friends FIL. Such a sad time to lose a loved one.

GLT - you are a sweet person to pick up your soon to be ex-dh. I don't know that I could have done that!

Count me out on the Valentine's Day exchange - we are turning over a new leaf, so to speak, with extra-cirricular spending.

Hi to those I missed. :yay:

Off I go, to start the day and peruse the diaper deal again. All I could do was calculate diaper costs in my head last night.

loretta,

I've got to look at that diaper deal again, too. I think they are about 6 cents cheaper a diaper if I buy through Amazon. It's so hard to calculate correctly because each size has a different amount of diapers, don't they?

I've been debating on going if I should go back to Pampers or not. Kona's had a little rash around her diaper line since I started the Huggies. I just don't think her diaper could be bothering her but I also don't know what else it could be.

I'm so glad your sister is able to stay longer. What a blessing.

I am awful, just awful when it comes to math - and I cannot locate our calculator to save my life. This is what I am coming up with on my Huggies but I don't know if I am right or way off!

At Walmart I buy a box of Huggies and there are 104 diapers in the box, for $19.79 (roughly) without any coupons. On Amazon, the diapers are $29.99 with 144 diapers in the box. I'd need to order 4 boxes to use the $30 discount. Which brings me to 576 diapers from Amazon or 456 diapers with Walmarts price. So I'd be getting 576 diapers from Amazon at $89 or if I get them at Walmart it would be 456 diapers at $80 plus tax. So I definitely come out winning with Amazon. It looks like I'd basically get a box for free? We have no space for the boxes but I will find a place for them! And I guess I could order 2 boxes of size 3 and 2 boxes of size 4.

Cam has been in size 3 diapers FOREVER. It says they go up to 28 pounds and she is only 22 pounds now. Thanks for letting me think online.

loretta,

The way I see it is you will pay around 19 cents a diaper at Walmart and around 15 cents a diaper at Amazon. I think I figured it correctly. Plus, they are delivered right to your door with Amazon.

For me it's 38 cents per diaper at Publix and 32 cents per diaper at Amazon.

We don't really have a place for them either but I will just put the diaper packs under someone's bed.

Do the diapers have to be Huggies? I tried to order Pampers for the baby, and the code didn't work.

Z- my dad kind of had several different jobs when I was growing up. The one he did for almost 20 years before he retired was working for the county sanitation district. Helping keep the sewer lines clear and such. Nothing glamourous, but good benefits. I think it was the summer of 2004 he stepped out of his work truck and really torked his knee all out. He had to have two surgeries on it, was on workman's comp, and then just had to do busywork at a desk the last 9 months or so he worked there. Plu she has a permanent disability in that knee now. Oh how he hated the office work. He liked going out in the neighborhoods and stuff, not sitting in an office.

J&D- I'm so sorry your trip had so many down points. Is Jenna's tooth OK? I pray it's not that crowded when we go....

lissawynn- sorry you were sick on NYE.

SL- Another headache- oh no! :headache: I hope you can get into the doctor ASAP.

I'm kind of in a funk this morning as DH and I got into a HUGE fight last night. We seem to have these a few times a year (as I've shared  ). I don't even want to talk about it, but I just tried talking it out with him on the phone and he had to go. He was already late for work and they were calling him on his cell....frustrating.

Looks like I will be on here a lot today. I left Molly's carseat in DH's truck and he noticed it halfway to work. He took the Tribeca to the mountain yesterday, so I drove Molly down to my parents in the truck...dang.

And I didn't tell you guys, but DH got rear ended yesterday after taking the kids to the snow. He went in the drivethru to get them some food, and some 19 year old kid behind him wasn't paying attention and dinged our bumper. DH made it sound like the bumper would have to be replaced, but when he came home, I had to look HARD to find the scratches. Part of the reason is the car was so dirty, lol, but I think they can just be buffed out by a professional.
