The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Robin you have such a young face. I honestly would not think you'd be 35 if you didn't say it (and if you hadn't mentioned your age before). Could Molly look any cuter with that Tink costume on!?! And I see you're not the only one who has a kid with a toothbrush obsession.

Tasha I meant to say how much I liked your photos awhile back, especially the alligator one! ;) He looks just like our "New Nick". I think you said you don't go to Gymboree much, but did you get him there? New Nick is from one of the boy Gymbo lines from last winter.

I have to get Madison dressed in her costume and bathe and dress Henry, but before I do I desparately need advice from any moms with more than 1 kid. I was talking to Madison about our trip and asking her who's coming. I meant who out of her stuffed toys, not our family, but her response was me, her, and my husband. I asked about Henry and she said she didn't want him to come, she wants "only us to come". I felt so bad and had no idea what to say. :guilty: Clearly he's coming regardless so she's out of luck, but I don't want to just dismiss it. My ever so helpful husband's response was "me too Madison". Unfortunately he's out of luck too. Anyway, I have no idea what to say to her. Not so much about him coming on the trip, but just about how I'm guessing she is feeling a bit neglected right now. I really try to spend a lot of time with her and when he's sleeping we do stuff together but I know it's a big adjustment. Any thoughts about things to do or say? I figure that a couple nights on our trip either my husband or I will take her out to MK alone while the other stays with the baby, so I hope that helps, but any other thoughs are welcome.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Well, the only really inappropriate costume I saw at school today was a boy dressed as a condom dispenser (it was actually a store bought costume) who was handing out condoms in the hallway for 25 cents. I thought it was unbelievable that his first period teacher had not reported him and that he was standing and talking to a new, non-tenured teacher in the hallway while he handed out condoms. Of course, I reported him since I knew his name. Aside from that, we just had the usual girls in slutty costumes with fishnets, etc. There were some really funny costumes though. There was a group of girls who dressed up as contestants from Flavor of Love and one girl dressed as Flava Flav. They made clocks with their pictures on them and everything. It was great!

I dressed up as a pirate. I ended up looking just like Elizabeth Swann since I had a long dress on and the cursed treasure around my neck.

Later, I went to Alex's Halloween party which was very cute. I took him home with me since they were'nt doing any learning for the rest of the day and he got to come to his old sitter's with me. It was so cute. He was so happy to see her and get to play in her backyard again.

Aidan fell asleep trick-or-treating today. He is in bed right now. Emmy and Alex are out with Tom while I hand out treats.

Staci - All I can say is GROSS!!

Joats - I'm so sorry you are all so sick. I hope everyone is better soon.

lissawynn - Jimmy looks so cute!!

Robin - Molly makes an adorable Tink

justhat - I wouldn't worry too much about Madison not wanting Henry to go. That's totally normal. My advice is to just ignore it because if she gets any type of reaction from you, she'll keep saying stuff like that. I would just emphasize how she can really show Henry around, etc. and make her feel like his little tour guide so she feels important. You can also make a big deal out of her getting to pick who she gets to go on rides with, etc. She'll be fine.

OK, I better check on our fancy dinner - frozen deep dish pizza.

Molly still isn't napping! Ugh!

OK, Justhat, first of all thanks on the compliment. I don't feel 35 either. I feel about, oh, 17 most of the time, yet with 40-45 more pounds on me than when I was 17! 17 in the sense that I just feel impatient and selfish and stand around and think, "When the heck did I become a mother to 3!?!!?" :rotfl:

I think I would just say to Madison, "Why do you just want it to be us?" To try and figure out what's bothering her about Henry...she could just say, "Because he has poopy diapers" and have nothing to do with you not spending time with her. And if she says something about him taking too much of your time, just say something like you will always be my sweet girl, and I still love you just as much, but now we have Henry in our family now too- aren't we lucky? He needs to me to be his mommy too and mommy has enough heart to share with everyone. And even just 5-10 minutes of alone time with Madison can make a big difference. I think it will be great if you and your DH can swap Henry a few times so you can go to MK with just Madison, or do something fun like shop for goodies at DTD, or just take a boat ride somewhere (like from the CR to WL - that's a nice little boat ride).

I don't know- that's one thing I feel I have done right with my kids- how exactly, I do not know, but they have never been jealous of their siblings, or had anxiety when their little bro or sis was born. Sam especially is just such a loving and nurturing little boy- he astounds me. And yet, he's still all boy of course! I just kind of surprised myself on that one, as I am an only, and know I would have been insanely jealous had my parents had another sibling after I was age 5 or so (they contemplated it when I was about 9).

Speaking of siblings, if you could just say a little prayer of wisdom and peace for my mom. My jerry springer Uncle is in the slammer again. I don't get it. How can two siblings be SO DIFFERENT! My mom couldn't get a hold of him for 2 months and finally called his apt. manager today who told her he was in jail. So then she called the jail and found out it was for some sort of drug possession. What kind we don't know. He does have prescriptions for painkillers, so it may have been that involved? I don't know and my mom is so frazzled. She said she has the money to support him, but she doesn't want to cause he blows it over and over again. I mean, he just got $125K from my grandfather's estate over the summer- my mom is going to be so mad if it's all gone. That was supposed to be his nest egg, and he was going to some sort of school to be a medical transcriptionist, but he either dropped out or failed and didn't tell my mom (who helped with the tuition). Ey-yi-yi. So my mom might have to go down to CA to help settle some things in the next week or so. :guilty:

robin - oh how awful! I don't know how that happens in families, but it often does. That must be so hard for your mom. Molly looks adorable! You do look young! I like the green on your cupboards!

justthat - I obviously have no words of wisdom about Madison not wanting Henry to come. It's probably something silly like Robin said. Your husbands support might be helpful though ;) lol

diskim - Well that sounds like a lovely costume that boy had on. He really thought he could get away with that at school?

Tyler and DH are out making a pass through the neighborhood right now. Hopefully I can get a good picture of him. He's being a little stinker (Tyler, not DH)

Thanks for the recommendations on some frozen meals!

Tamie

Kim- a condom machine????? OMG- :rotfl2: and yet YIKES! What a moron!

OK, so Molly has not napped before Trick Or Treating. This will be so fun. Not.

Hope everyone on the east coast had successful trick or treating runs! I'm hoping for some good candy, although for once I'm kind of chocolated out. Too many pieces of See's.

Thanks for the words of wisdom ladies! I really wanted my kids to be around 3.5 years apart and my biggest concern while pregnant was Madison being so young and not really understanding what is going on. I still feel that way now sometimes and things like this make me think I've ruined her life. So thanks for letting me know it's normal.

The thing is that 99% of the time Madison absolutely loves Henry and doesn't want to be more than 2 feet away from him. She's constantly waking him up to play with him (not that I want that, but the thought is there), give him lots of hugs and kisses, and she always wants to include him in everything we do. This morning when Joey took her to school she insisted he take Henry too. She's never mean to him at all or complains when he's getting held, fed, etc. But then she had that moment a week or so ago where she seemed pretty sad I hadn't put him to bed yet and now tonight she wanted to leave him home. I did ask her why and she said "so he can stay with Blackjack" (our bunny who is at the pet shop while we're away). Of course she cried when we left the bunny. :confused3

I really do feel better that she'll be fine and her life is not ruined so thank you!

Kim I cannot believe a kid came dressed as a condom machine and handed out condoms. To think his parents condoned that is unreal. So cute that Aidan couldn't last trick or treating! Henry fell asleep trick or treating too. He woke up when Madison showered since his bed is very close to the bathroom but he's sleeping again so all is well.

Tamie - I hope you get a good photo of Tyler. Madison was a stinker for the camera tonight too. We did get a couple of good shots though so hopefully Tyler will cooperate too.

Staci that is so nasty about the pool. I would have been so paranoid the rest of the class.

Robin - Sorry to hear about your uncle. I'll have you guys in my prayers. My mom has a class act brother too and it's so stressful sometimes worrying about him. Funny cause he was arrested for drug charges when she found out she had breast cancer and he had the nerve to call me and tell me I was upsetting my mom (we got in a mom/daughter fight about decorating my old home). :furious: Hopefully your mom will handle everything okay. :grouphug:

Oh, a funny story about the zoo. I know I'm always harping about how bad the zoo is but yesterday we went again to see the new exhibit, the Asia Trail. I was impressed with the design, but they were just recycled animals from elsewhere in the zoo. Anyway, this little old lady tourist saw me trying to find the elusive clouded leopard and said "This zoo does not have many animals. I came to the zoo to see animals and I'm kinda disappointed. There are no animals." So I said "Yeah, the zoo has some problems. There aren't that many animals. It's kinda sad." So she's looking around and of course couldn't find the clouded leopard either and then said "Okay, this animal is not here, that bear over there looks so depressed. What a zoo." I had to laugh cause I say that probably everyday and apparently tourists feel the same way!

Here are some of the photos of our kids. I'll keep it to a minimum since I'm sure I'll bore you all with WDW and christening photos when I get back. ;)

Good night everyone and have a good week!

Is anybody else feeling like it's like midnight??? It's only 7:30!! The girls hit the road without us this year - wanted to be with their buds and they already had like 3 moms with them. DH really hurt his knee playing b'ball at work today...really, when you get injured twice a week don't you think it's time to quit??? So we took turns passing out candy and playing with Carson. He put on his froggy costume for awhile for photos with the girls but never really went out - pointless purchase, I guess, but he was so cute! Hannah is still with her friends trading candy but Hayley is home and she's sharing which is so nice!

justhat - I have to say that's an adorable picture of Madison - I've never seen her with a full smile - so cute!!! And Henry looked about as excited as Carson was. Maybe next year... And Madison is behaving in a very normal way about Henry right now. Believe me, you'll really enjoy having them so close in age VERY soon. The girls are exactly 2 years apart and by the time Hannah was mobile it was wonderful (most of the time) I promise.
Love the christening outfit - he looks so cute!!!

robin - I'm so sorry about your uncle - sometimes you gotta wonderif everyone in your family fell off the same tree. I wonder all the time about mine! Your mom will be in my prayers! Hope Molly makes it to a few houses in a good mood. Thanks for sharing the CUTE photo of you guys!

diskim - ???? :confused3 what is WRONG with parents? Who would let their kid out the door like that?

floridafam - ENJOY thinking about your trip...that's the point! :)

Ok - gotta go drag Hannah away from her friends as she's the type who needs "unwind time" or she'll never sleep. Hope everyone had a great night!

Hi girls and again, Happy Halloween! I am exhausted! Went to the doctor today and got a shot and some anti-biotics and ran home and piled on some makeup and a wig....a bad, bad wig, that I got at Target on clearance last year but it happened to match the kids' oufits! Justthat - Madison made a much better Minnie than Cameryn. She would not keep her mouse ears on for anything and would not sit still for a picture to save our lives! DH annoyed me to no end tonight so we never got a family photo. His loss! Anyway, here are some shots, enjoy me in the horrid wig...

P1010016-2.jpg

Robin - you do NOT look huge and as a matter of fact you look adorable. As does Molly.

justthat - Henry is too cute in his costume as well. Love the christening outfit shot. :thumbsup2

Alice, Justhat, zalansky - GREAT pictures!!!! Justhat, that's the pumpkin t-shirt I'm wearing today! :thumbsup2

Here are a few of Lucas. He refused to wear the costume at my parents' house but let us put it on later. Then he cried when we took it off. Kids. :confused3

HI Ladies -

Whew - what a long day! Now I know why Halloween only comes once a year. I added some pics to my signature of our night - we had a great time and couldn't believe what a nice night it was for Trick Or Treat

-- I love everyone's pictures! Keep them coming!

Loretta - Love that wig! I can't believe how big your kids have grown in the last few months!!
Justine - Such cute pics of Madison and Henry!!!!
SL - Lucas looks adorable!
Alice - Love the pic of Molly!

I'll update more tomorrow - nite everyone.

loretta - I think the wig is great! It does match the outfits. The kids look so cute. I just love those superhero costumes with the muscles!

justthat - Henry and Madison look adorable!! You got a great picture of Madison!!

sl - Lucas looks so cute. That's great that he left the ears on for you.

hillary - Cute! The big head on the kermit is so cute!

Dizagain- I hate it when people don’t show up on schedule like that.

Lissawynn- What an adorable little chicken!

Staci- Sounds like the pool was gross :(

Jill- I’m hoping to get our Halloween pictures online this weekend, so hopefully I’ll be able to share some Kermit pictures.

Joats- Get better soon. Your illness sounds just awful.

Alice- I love the Tinkerbell costume! I got Olivia’s tinkerbell costume in the mail today. Now she has something adorable to wear to the princess breakfast at Epcot.
My mom also has a sibling who is her complete doppelganger. He’s the opposite of every good quality she has. I’ll say a prayer for your mom. It sounds like she’s going to have a tough time with that situation.

DisKim- Sounds like your kids had some creative costumes today. I like the Flava of Love idea.

Justhat, Zalansky, SL- I love all the pictures.

Hillbeans- Your Kermit looks quite a bit like my Kermit.

I had a really tough work day. I can’t even talk about it because I’ll just get too upset. The kids looked really cute though. We wound up with a whole crew, my brother and sister, DH’s brother and two of his friends and Olivia. Later on my other brother came by with his fiancé and we had pizza and watched Heroes.

I also finished the stitching on Olivia’s baby blanket. I haven’t put her name on it yet though, but I want to get that done ASAP. I’ve been working on this cross-stitch project since early in my pregnancy, so it’s about time I finish it.

OK, now I really have to get to bed even though it’s 10:15. Olivia’s sleep pattern is getting worse and worse. Tonight she fell asleep at 6:15 pm!! She’s going to want breakfast at 4:30 at this rate. Any ideas on how I can start reversing her back to a more normal schedule? We tried waking her up a little while ago, but she was only interested in sleeping. Weird child! She won’t nap during the day and apparently she won’t get up at night.

Hi everyone! pooh:

Well, now that I've eaten at least 20 Bit-O-Honeys and a few peanut butter cups... and a couple mini 3 Musketeers.... all I can say is how glad I am that Halloween is over. We did pass out candy to a bunch of kids - or should I say DH did while I bathed and fed Aubree. We didn't take her out. She did let me put on her two costumes (since I couldn't choose just one!) and take some pics. She was much happier being Piglet.

Loved looking at all the pics of your kids! How very cute!

I had to reschedule my doctor's appt. since DH starts a new job tomorrow and I forgot I wouldn't have my insurance cards until that night at the earliest. So it's now rescheduled for Nov. 7.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Aubree stays asleep. She has spitup twice in the last hour. :crazy2: Darn reflux! She's not burping very good lately. It was all over her face and sheet. Then I go in there and she's cooing and acting all happy. I keep telling her that she amazes me being so happy after throwing up. How can I resist kissing this little face over and over? She's getting to be very independent and wants to hold the bottle. Can you see how red her hand is from trying to grip it? LOL

IMG_6224.jpg

Ginamarie - sorry you had a bad day at work. Hope tomorrow is better!

Staci - yuck - chunks in the pool! Eek.

Joats - hope you and your family feel better! :wizard:

Hi to all the other mommies!

I'm about pooped - I think I'll try heading to bed now. Have a great Wednesday!! :grouphug:

Oh my gosh girls! The pictures of all the kiddoes are just awesome!

Justhat- Madison looks SO CUTE! I just love her as Minnie! And, yeah, Henry looks like he 'loves' his Christening outfit. But he sure makes a cute Pooh!

Hillbeans- the boys look darn sweet in your siggie pic! I am tired too!

Diz- yeah, I feel like this has been the longest day ever. I am wiped out. I am zoning in front of a Sex and the City rerun right now. The other day I almost made a reference to this show- I threw the rest of the Costco cake away so I wouldn't keep picking at it and I thought, "maybe I should pour soap on it like Miranda did...." :rotfl: I thought Jill might get a kick out of that!

Loretta- I think you look SO good! The crazy wig is great! You and your kids are just darling. Are you OK? What was the shot and antibiotics for? The Lyme's or your cold??

SL- as usual, Lucas looks so cute! Love those eyes combined with that smile! And a Snickers, yum, yum!

Betsy- I like Aubree as Piglet too! I hope her spit up eases- that is no fun for baby or momma.

GM- I'm so sorry you had a rough day at work. Feel free to vent to us when/if you feel like it. :grouphug:

Tamie- love the pic of Tyler peering in his bucket.

Well, we trick or treated til the boy's bags were quite fat. They have a
LOT of candy, esp compared to last year, when it started raining and they wanted to go home after about 12-14 houses. We went to a few houses in our neighborhood, but few street lights + no sidewalks + lots and lots of hills = semi-sucky Trick or Treat experience for the parents. So then we drove up the hill about 3 miles to one of the newer and nicer tract developments with good lighting, no hills and wide sidewalks. :goodvibes And people gave out HANDFULS of candy, so the kids really made out! Molly wanted to go right up to the door, she wasn't afraid. She would do her evil scientist, wacky laugh every time she saw the candy bowl- it was pretty amusing. Out of all 3 of my kids, she is the most candy obsessed. She definitely likes her sweets and her meat. :confused3 When we got home dear neighbors were home so we went over there for 15-20 minutes to chat. Her inlaws decided to throw her a shower next weekend (last minute) and she's a little nervous about it- let's just say they are a little weird. Anyway, that will make shower #4 for her! :cool1:

OK, well, I am totally pooped. I think it's time for bed! Night!

OMG, I am just loving all the photos of the kiddos in their costumes! They are all absolutely adorable. And Loretta, you are one hot mama! Love the wig!

justhat~ Actually our alligator came from the alligator farm in St. Augustine when my mom and I went in 2004. I collect alligators. Kylie of course thinks it's hers but it's technically still mine.

I am so drowsy. I have been fighting a cold for some time and I took some Nyquil about an hour ago. I won't be able to fight the sleep much longer which is why I don't think I could possibly do a proper catch up right now. I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Keep the pics coming! They are awesome!

We have had a wonderful Halloween! It was especially great today because I didn't have to deal with Kylie's annoying teacher since she left early. That was a pleasant surprise! ;) Sunday night we went to the Trunk-or-Treat at the ILs church. Kylie didn't completely understand at first of course but she loved seeing the other kids dressed up. She eventually did figure out that candy was being placed in her bucket though. She would point to the candy and head that way with her little bucket. She also refused to let anyone else carry it but her. Eventually it was pretty heavy and loaded with candy. I tried to help her since the bucket is as big as she is nearly. The tiny little thing is stronger than she looks. She carried that thing herself even at its heaviest and did not need nor want my help. I think she was afraid I'd steal her candy! I confess that I did steal some of it after she went to bed, lol! I am probably going to end up bringing a lot of it to school with me Thurs. and let my classmates have it.

Anyway, tonight we went Trick-or-Treating at the college dorms. It was a lot of fun too. Here are some pictures. I could not get Kylie to smile in most of them. She had a great time so don't let the pics fool you. She wouldn't look at me or smile because she was too busy watching the other kids. She is my little socialite and thrives on crowds so she was in her element of course.

"Okay, mommy, I'll give this Trunk-or-Treat thing a shot BUT only if my baby can go too!"

Kyliethecowgirlandbaby.jpg

"On second thought, forget Baby! This ball is really cool!"

Kyliethecowgirlandherpumpkinbucket.jpg

"Hey, mom! Would you mind moving? You're blocking the candy!"

KylieatTrunk-or-Treat.jpg

"The candy's this way...follow me!"

KylieatTrunk-or-Treat2.jpg

"I need a break! I think I'll just sit back and people watch a while if that's okay with you."

KylieatICCsTrick-or-Treat.jpg

This last one is of the crown that Hillbeans sent to Kylie. Thanks, Hilary! Kylie loves it and plays with it constantly! She is wearing her "boy" puppy pjs and her Princess crown! That describes her personality if you ask me! ;)

KylieinArielcrown.jpg

Okay, my eyes are way too heavy to stay on here any longer! Have a great November 1 everyone!

Good morning mommies! I am up way too early after a no sleep night. Halloween was great and Aidan had so much fun Trick or Treating but it was exhausting. I see my Dr again today and I'll update you all later when I can.

All the kids look great in their costumes! It seems like everyone had a great Halloween! Here are some pictures of Aidan, our little frog!

hillbeans, tkyes, WDWBetsy, Tasha, bellacam - I LOVE LOVE LOVE your pictures!

Everyone looked great in their costumes.

ginamarie - :grouphug: Sorry you had such a rough day yesterday.

Good morning ladies! :sunny:

I need to leave for school in a moment, but I just wanted to say how much I love all of the pictures of the DIS babies in their Halloween costumes!

My dh took a few pictures of John, but forgot to get pictures of the girls. Oh well, I'm just grateful I have some pictures of John. I'll upload them later.

I did manage to see someone dressed up as Tink last night on campus and a few pirates and Roman warriors as well. I totally forgot about the college kids dressing up. My professor from my 3:30 class let everyone go home at 5:00, but I couldn't go home since I had another class at 6:30. :guilty: I got home at 10:00 and my dh filled me in on all of the festivities. The girls did well and got lots of candy and John had a good time being pushed around in his stroller.

Robin, ah yes...I loved that episode of SATC where Miranda can't stop eating cake. I always crack up when she throws the cake in the trash can and calls Carrie to say that she is checking herself into the Betty Crocker clinic. :rotfl2: That show cracks me up!

Joats - Feel better soon!! It sounds like you have quite the nasty virus! :grouphug:

I'll catch up with everyone later! I've got to be in a 5th grade class in a few moments. I'm sure all of the kids have sugar hangovers! :teeth:

Just a quick drive by from me!

LOVE, LOVE the pics!!!! The dis babies are the cutest! I took a couple of new ones last night and I might post them later. But I think I've bored you guys already with my kids dressed up pics!!!

Well, Matthew woke up with a blow out this morning and now we need to get ready for gymnastics and the library. Hope to check in at lunchtime!
