No, Sayid was not included. Michael was given a "list" of 4 people to bring back to the others so he could get Walt back...Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley. Sayid, Sun and Jin took the sailboat to try and outflank the Others.

I made a list of the possible characters that the baby born to Amy and Horace could be. These are all the white males that appear to be around 30 years old and we do not know their father and/or mother.

Or again, it could be a nobody that either we haven't met or that is not important.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over the timeline. So, here is what I put together(with help from lostpedia.com)...

Early 60's(probably 1963)
Ben was born outside Portland, Oregon. We are introduced to Horace and Olivia Goodspeed who stop to help Roger and Emily Linus. Emily Linus dies.

1974
Sawyer, Juliet, Jin and crew flash back to that time. They save Amy from the Hostiles after her husband, Paul has been killed.

1977
Amy has a baby boy with Horace Goodspeed. Jack, Kate and Hurley arrive.

1976/1977
Ben arrives on the island with his father. Ben appears to be about 13.

1977/78
Ben meets Richard Alpert in the jungle.

1988
Danielle and her science team crash land on the island.

1989
Alex was born and kidnapped by the Others a week after she was born.

1992
The Purge takes place and Ben kills his father.

1993
Mikhail arrives on the island.

2001
Desmond arrives on the island.
Juliet arrives on the island.

2004, September 22
Flight 815 crashes on the island.

Hahahahaha. Here we are obsessing over who the bag lady is, and it's some random chick that we don't know!

I love how Sawyer took up the 'leader' role. Did anyone notice how hot he looked tonight? Man, those big blue eyes and dimples can make a girl go crazy!

I pretty much knew Juliet & Sawyer would pair up, so that's not so shocking. Honestly, I hope he doesn't go running back to Kate. I hope his speech about '3 years being long enough to get over someone' was true.

I thought the unveiling of bag lady was hilarious too! Great editing for the preview. We're all to the point where every single person seems so important, but they just aren't always...

And yes, I LOVED Sawyer in the leader role. He's not all Spiderman whiny like Jack can be. And I do like him and Julitte together. I'm glad to see others agree that we hope he doesn't go straight back to Kate. I like Kate by herself, but I hate her with Jack AND Sawyer--she's so toxic for both of them.

I can't remember the necklace either but I am sure it is significant!

That's very interesting!! I watched the baby Charlotte part twice and I swear you can hear a woman saying, "Charlotte." I'll have to listen again.

As for the necklace, I wonder if it's significance lies in what it is and not that we've seen it before. It's an ahnk--an Egyptian symbol and the full statue we got to see before the final flash looked very Egyptian to me--maybe even the god Horace?!

ETA: did some research and I think the statue is of Anubis...Horace looks like a bird...


Anyone else feel a little jipped with how fast the 3 years passed? I feel like the group really would have formed bonds with the Dharma people and each other over this time span (way longer than they were with the plane crash survivors!!) You would think the Juliette/Sawyer match would be stronger than with Kate simply because they've had so much more time to bond.

And I wanted to point out one more thing.

I remembered Horace from his visions to Locke. He leads Locke to Jacob's cabin...He was building Jacob's cabin!! So maybe the baby is Jacob?! Also in the "dreams" he keeps appearing over and over doing the same thing with his nose bleeding like he's in a time loop or something.

Hmm, but 1979 seems awfully late for Charlotte to be born given that she was supposed to have a PhD in anthropology (and had apparently been working in the field a little--she was in Tunisia excavating polar bear skeleton at one point in the past).

It's 2004/05 when she gets to the island so she'd only be 25-26 years old. It's *possible* to have a PhD by that age (I do know someone who will have one by the age of 25--but he skipped high school completely and went to college at age 14!), but it's pretty unlikely. The minimum time for a PhD in fields that don't require extensive fieldwork/study abroad is about 4 years; 5-6 years is more typical; more than 6 years is pretty common also. In fields that involve fieldwork/study abroad a PhD program can be even longer.

So I'm thinking given an average 6 year PhD program and at least a year of actual working post-PhD before going to the island, Charlotte would have to be at youngest 29 (which happens to be how old the actress is). But hey maybe she's brilliant and skipped high school or did college in 2 years or did her PhD in 3--who knows?

So I guess if that was really Charlotte at age 3/4 that Daniel saw in 1974, then she was 33-35 when she died. That's possible, but yeah the actress doesn't really look that age. But then, of course, I often feel like there are some weird things about age on Lost. Not anything completely unbelievable, but just things that make me say "really?" Like Shannon was supposed to be 19 when the plane crashed, but except for the first few episodes where she was portrayed as a spoiled rich girl she didn't seem 19 at all. And Sayid would have been like 37 at that time. Why would he be so interested in a teenager? And Locke's parents--the people who played them are only about 8 years older than the actor who plays Locke. So I figure we probably can't tell much about how old characters are supposed to be given how old they look.

Why do you think Olivia was Horace's wife? It could have been his sister or friend? I don't remember anything saying they were married

Is Olivia ever confirmed to be Horace's wife though? It's assumed since she was in the car with him when Ben was born, but maybe he was recruiting her or something like Richard did with Juliet. Their being together could have been pure happenstance, especially considering how Horace talked with Sawyer about getting over someone in only 3 years. She's listed as "Olivia the teacher" on imdb.com, not Olivia Goodspeed. Horace is listed as Horace Goodspeed, not Horace the mathematician.

I think the baby is Ethan, if it's any of the Others; Goodwin Goodspeed would just be to cruel to bestow upon a child. Juliette did say in last night's episode that most of the Dharma Initiative was killed; maybe the Others kidnapped the children and brought them into the fold like they did with the kids from flight 815.

Too many questions and I do not want to wait 2 weeks!

Loved last nights epi and really loved Sawyer and Juliette together!! I hope Kate doesn't mess it all up with her drama. I'm hoping that the bond and love that he has built with Juliette over the last 3 years will eclipse the fling he had with skanky girl for 3 months.

I'm sure if he tells her no, she will go running back to Jack again. Seems all she ever does is get herself captured or bounces between Jack and Sawyer.

Loved all the smiles from Sawyer last night!! I dont' think we have seen him smile so much since the show started. I have to admit that the flame for him died out a while ago, but last night......................

I think it was Charlotte too. We know that what Ben said was partially untrue anyway. He said that she was born in England and raised in England. And we know that she was at least partially raised on the island. So it is very likely that he fibbed about her birthday.

Either that or she is a genius!

Here are my thoughts...

Time Travel Deal:
Richard did not recognize Sawyer at all last night, which makes sense-this is the first time they are seeing each other. However, in 2004 when Flight 815 crashes, all The Others know the names of the Losties - since Richard met Sawyer back in 1974, he would know his name still in 2004, and he could tell his people.

Sawyer and group, upon meeting Richard in 2004 would recognize him I would think, since they met him back in 1974. They wouldn't know any of the other Others, except maybe Ben if he arrives.

Remember Ben being in the hatch in 2004? The Losties didn't know who he was (at least from what I can remember). I wonder if Sawyer's group in 1974/77 are going to see/meet young Ben and then years later he's in their hatch...they still might not recognize him since it's been 20+ years. But they would recognize his name when they heard it. When did they first get Ben's real name?

Amy & Horace's Baby:
Hmmm...my first guess would be Jacob....

And thanks for the reminder on who Horace is everyone! I wonder if Oliva was ever his actual wife...

Bag Lady:
I was all psyched up for the scene and then let out a "Oh." when I saw her. Instantly DH says, "She's in another show....24!" (the one other show we are obsessed with!)

Charloette:
I think that really is her as a young girl, 3/4/5 years old. I think the birth date Ben had was wrong. Her mother took her away from island when she was young and they moved to England. Perhaps her mother also changed her birth date (not legally obviously), to hide her...

Did anyone catch what the people walking with Charloette looked like? Could you see faces at all? Remember we were wondering if she was possibly the Dharma Film Guy's daughter?

The Others:
I don't think they are nasty yet. They pulled a truce with Dharma, so that at least tells you they are reasonable. I think something crazy happens that makes them get nasty. Perhaps Ben's leadership?

Richard:
I think he's Jacob too.

Babies being born on the island:
My DH said he thinks right now, 1977, babies can be born on the island, but something tweaks out the island that causes the babies not to be born - possibly the chemical used in The Purge, or a disruption of some sort on the island. The difference with this baby and Danielle's is that Amy must have gotten pregnant on the island since we see her in 1974 not pregnant. Danielle arrived pregnant, same with Claire.

Speaking of the Purge, is that where this show is going now? Is this whole season a "do over"? The Losties are going to stop Ben and prevent him from killing the Dharma employees?

I don't think they can prevent him, "what's done is done" sort of thing.
