The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

I think the movement of time is different on the island then on the mainland. What has seemed to only have been a day or so for the island people, as they jump through time, may have been 2 or 3 years for the mainland people.

I don't think Locke has been wandering around the mainland, looking up and talking to Losties, for years. Just doesn't sound right to me. More like he was there for a month or so prior to dying. Which, by the way, they say we are going to find out how he died in the next few weeks or so. :thumbsup2

Anyone else really said that Charlotte died? I feel so bad for Daniel. He really loved her. I was hoping her last words would have been "I love you too" or something to that effect. Instead she comes out with something about chocolate!!!

I thought last season Jin figured out she understood Korean and called her on it :confused3 Anyone else remember the specifics?

Well, he didn't really call her on it. That I can remember.

It was when Jin and Sun went with Daniel and Charolette to the medical station. Jin and Sun were talking and Jin noticed how she was watching them and the fact that she reacted to what they were saying as if she understood them.

I don't believe he ever spoke to her in korean prior to last night though.

I think the bigger question is why did Jin KNOW she could? He asked her right away, not Myles. Sawyer told Myles to translate and Jin kept looking at Charlotte.

I believe it was established in one of the first episodes with Charlotte, that she could understand Korean. I don't remember all the details but it was an episode when Jin and Sun still on the island. They could tell she knew what they were saying.

All the sites I went to at the time had shots of "Jacob" that were CLEARLY Christian.

That's funny - I think every site has their favorites. I've seen plenty of sites saying it's Locke. I've even seen a diagram where they've measured Locke's bald head and then put the hair on it like seen in the photo I posted. :rotfl:

I've also read theories that Jacob is: Claire's psychic; the Dharma guy that first bought Ben to the island; Smokey; or that he takes the form of any of the survivors dead relatives.:confused3

Good memory!!!! I remember that now.

I think he and/or Sun did call her on it. They said that they knew she understood them and she acted like she didn't. But it was obvious to both Jin and Sun that she did understand them. But she never admitted it.

I do think that Jacob and Jack's dad are the same - when Locke was with him last night he said, "say hello to my son." Jack? I don't think it could be Daniel based on that statement.

So who is Charlotte's "daddy?" If her daddy didn't get off the island, could it be Ben, Widmore? Could she somehow be Daniel's sister? Now that Juliette's nose is bleeding, is that because she was on the island before also? What about Sawyer???

I think Mr. Shepherd is a spirit or hallucination of sorts that speaks for Jacob. He said "Say hello to my son" meaning Jack.

I don't think that Daniel and Charlotte are brother/sister because a couple episodes ago when they were in the 1950's he said he was madly in love with her.

Oh, and does anyone have any thoughts on the temple and the smokey thing? Dannielle Ruso said that going there 'changed them'. But she seemed like the crazy one to me. :rolleyes1

Any connection with Smokey and Jacob? Could the temple be something to worship Jacob and Smokey the guardian or protector of the temple?

If so there seems to be a lot of Biblical parallels here. Take the trinity of the Christian Bible the father, son, and Holy ghost. Father = Jacob, Son = Richard? and Holy Ghost = Smokey??

If my blonde memory serves, Sun called her on it, and she denied it.

OK, this is a way cool theory!
Thanks! ;)

Thank you all who talked about this. It was nagging in the back of my mind that something had happened last season and I forgot...maybe I'm time jumping..lol

I've seen a lot of people with older theories about Jacob, but I thought everyone had switched over to Christian after one of the sites had a GREAT still from the cabin...I'll see if I can find it.

I think the smoke monster "ate" them all. Danielle saying they were sick was her mind's way of explaining the crazy situation. We know that Danielle killed at least 3 "copies" of Robert. I don't think Christian is a spirit or hallucination or that any of the dead people we've seen are. Last night Danielle showed us that these apparitions are flesh and blood...

On the site I found this someone in the chat mentions that in the previous episode where we had seen Christian, he was wearing the shoes in the picture...

I do think Miles is the baby seen in the season premiere - the son of the Dharma scientist.

I don't think Locke stopped the time-travel by turning the wheel; I think turning that wheel is what is getting Locke off the island to go get the Oceanic 6. Remember - the six have to come back to save those on the island - they are going to die because of the constant time shifts. The Oceannic 6 return - timeshifts stop.

I don't think Jack's dad is Jacob either. As PP pointed out, he was asked that point-blank by Locke last year and he said no. Besides, we KNOW Jack has a history with his father off the island - so how could he also be Jacob, living on the island all these years. I'm not so sure Jacob is Daniel either anymore. I went searching for that one image we have of Jacob from a previous season; he's not as scraggly-looking as I remembered:

My other questions - where are all the kids? The Others kidnapped children from the Tailies in the second season; and the camp where Walt was held also had children. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well this picture is from post #312 on this thread. Personally I think it looks more like the helicopter pilot.

If Christian is not a spirit then why couldn't (or wouldn't) he help Locke stand up? I thought that was why they put that there? JMO

Oh I agree with you harleyquinn - based on that picture, he very much looks like Christian. Now I don't want to come across as argumentative, but I have to wonder if people on the internet are messing with the image to support their theory. Personally, when I watched that episode, I KNOW the image of Jacob wasn't that clear - we rewound it and froze it a couple of times to try and make out who it was; it was never very obvious. Now if you google "Lost - image of Jacob", you'll find ALOT of different images.

Look at all the trouble this guy went to to try and prove it's Locke:

(some people have waaaay too much time on their hands!)

Anyway, I don't think it's obvious one way or the other who Jacob is exactly. I'm still playing the guessing game with that one!

Oh geez - now that you mention it.......he does! Great - another possibility! And yup - that theory is out there........

The pic you posted is part of the one I posted.

Sorry, I've been trying to post this a few times to explain my pic better...

The long haired pic and the rocking chair pic are from 2 seperate cabin visits...I think one was Hurley's initial visit and the other was Locke's...I swear the rocking chair was Locke's, but I can't remember...

Cuz he's a jerk? ;)

Maybe they aren't all flesh and blood like Robert. I really don't have a clue. I just thought them throwing in the extra copy corpses was interesting and probably important.

I'm not so sure Jacob is Jack's dad. REmember when Locke saw Christian and Claire in the cabin and Locke asked if he was Jacob? Christian said no, he's not Jacob but he can speak for him.

I don't think Daniel is Jacob either. Daniel is Eliose/Ellie's son (I also think Eliose is the grown-up Ellie) with Widmore. MAYBE (and this is really stretching it here.....maybe Aaron is Jacob reincarnated?
Maybe Ben wasn't surprised that Eloise is Daniel's mother - maybe he's surprised (a) to see Desmond and (b) that Desmond knows that Eloise is Daniel's mother.

Yep, I also love how they throw some humor in there! "I'm from Encino".:rotfl2:

You know, Amy, that is a really interesting idea. It made me think what if Aaron is not Jacob reincarnated, but with all of the time travel, Aaron actually becomes Jacob. It would explain why Christian might be one to speak for him - he is his grandfather, after all, and why Claire was sitting so calmly in that cabin with Christian following her death. It would alos explain why it was so important for Claire to be on that plane; why the Others kidnapped her and wanted to make sure her baby was born safely; and finally, why Ben and Richard keep insisting ALL of them need to come back - even baby Aaron. It's certainly no crazier than some of the other stuff they've come up with! I'm sure there are a lot of holes to this theory, but my brain is frazzled trying to keep up with!

I agree with ya, and I think my last post explains the different pics a little. I think they are from 2 seperate visits by different people. Maybe Jacob is a different person to different people.

But I think if the Christian pic was from Locke's visit, which I'm pretty sure it was, because when I saw the Christian still shortly after, I remember thinking, "why the heck are they bringing that guy back into this?" If that's true then "Jacob" showed up to Locke as Christian again...

Was this the thread I posted on about Ben's carpet van? The name of the company was an anagram for reincarnation...

First of all, I think Jacob is Locke. A future Locke. And that is why Locke sees Jacob in the form of Christian Shepard. If he saw himself, that would be dangerous. I will have to go back and watch the DVD's again. But, I think every time Jacob has appeared to Locke it has been as Christian Shepard.

Second, didn't all remaining Others(including the children) go to the temple? Isn't that where Ben told them to go?

:rotfl2: Oh, I didn't think about that. Sometimes the simpler explanation is best isn't it. It would match his personality in the 'real world' during the flash backs.

But what it doesn't explain is why then did Claire tell Kate not to bring him back?
