The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

And as usual, last night's episode answered some questions and raised a whole lot more:

So the donkey wheel was off-balance after Ben moved the island. So I guess that would account for all the flashes and time-shifting. Since Locke turned the donkey wheel, does that mean he put it back in place and stopped all the flashes?

If the island is done skipping through time, does that mean it stays at whatever the last time-jump was? Or did Locke's turning of the wheel bump the island back to the present time?

We still need to account for 3 years of life on the island. Locke turned the wheel and (I'm assuming it's like with Ben) that moved Locke off the island and back to the real world, and he's spent the next 3 years trying to get in contact with the Oceanic 6 and convince them to go back to the island (after his broken leg is healed). What happens to the Losties on the island during those 3 years?

Aren't Jacob and Jack's dad the same? Did we ever really see Jacob clearly enough to know for sure? Because that would explain his attachment to Claire, too.
QUOTE]

I didn't see anything that told me who Jacob was?? I'm so confused

I do think that Jacob and Jack's dad are the same - when Locke was with him last night he said, "say hello to my son." Jack? I don't think it could be Daniel based on that statement.

Did anything important get discussed between Sun and her mom? Our local station had a scroll bar at the bottom during the conversation so we couldn't read what was spoken.

We had the scroll on our TV too about the Amber Alert. So there was nothing important discussed in subtitles?

There seems to be a lot of speculation as to who Annie might be. So, I decided to post a picture of young Annie.

I think she looks more like Kate than either Charlotte or Juliette. And don't forget that back in season one, Kate used the name Annie as an alias. Plus, her middle name is Anne. Something to think about. Maybe Kate's Mom is Annie. I know that is a stretch. But there is definitely a resemblance between young Annie and Kate. Oh, and Kate's Mom is named Diane.

Wow, she DOES look like a little Kate! But if Charlotte was saying that she thinks it was Daniel who told her not to come back to the island or she'd die, could that be during one of the time travels that we have yet to see? Daniel ends up in the time with Charlotte as a child and talks to her?

So who is Charlotte's "daddy?" If her daddy didn't get off the island, could it be Ben, Widmore? Could she somehow be Daniel's sister? Now that Juliette's nose is bleeding, is that because she was on the island before also? What about Sawyer???

I think all this season when we've seen the Losties, it is during those 3 years, because they've been going through the time travel. But how long is Locke off the island? Did he get off shortly after the O6? Or have they been going through 3 years of time travel? Does Locke die right away, and so this is only about a week of Jack and Ben trying to get everyone together? Or like the pp said, did he spend 3 years looking for them and then "die" shortly before Jack saw his obit?

No, I don't think they were time flashing for 3 years.(They would not have survived it) The island was present day(minus the flashes) and the O6 were 3 years in the future. Locke would have been off the island for 3 years, like Ben and the others.

I don't think they've been going through 3 years of time travel - it's only been a few days of "island time" since the Oceanic 6 left and the freighter blew up. Jin wouldn't have been floating in the ocean for 3 years!

Probably not even a day! The time flashes seem to happen every few seconds. They flash to day and night. I think they are still in the same day.

Again - I just love Miles! Sawyer: "Translate"; Miles: "He's Korean; I'm from Encino.":lmao:
And why do you guys think Charlotte was able to speak Korean? That seemed to be a surprising fact.

BIG speculation here. I've read that some people think Miles is the son of the scientist in the Dharma project training films. (Sorry, I can't remember his name right now).

Could the scientist possibly be Korean....and Charlotte's father???

Anybody remember the opening scenes from this season? It's OK if you prove me wrong.

Oooh, that's an interesting thought - Charlotte and Miles are brother and sister! I need to mull that over for a while.

Yes, I'm one of those who think Miles is the baby we saw in the first episode this season. That would also explain why he was getting the nosebleeds - Daniel said the longer you've been on the island the sooner you'd get the nosebleeds. Daniel's only been on the island a few days or so, but if he had been on the island as a baby and doesn't remember, that would explain it.

I can't see Charlotte having any Asian blood in her. She is your token english girl. Extremely fair skin, and red hair?? Every half-asian I have ever seen, shows some sign of being asian. They eyes would definitely show it, if not the skin.

When they were looking for a translation from Jin, didn't they first look at Miles and he said I don't speak Korean I speak________ (something different)

I do think Miles is the baby seen in the season premiere - the son of the Dharma scientist.

I don't think Locke stopped the time-travel by turning the wheel; I think turning that wheel is what is getting Locke off the island to go get the Oceanic 6. Remember - the six have to come back to save those on the island - they are going to die because of the constant time shifts. The Oceannic 6 return - timeshifts stop.

I don't think Jack's dad is Jacob either. As PP pointed out, he was asked that point-blank by Locke last year and he said no. Besides, we KNOW Jack has a history with his father off the island - so how could he also be Jacob, living on the island all these years. I'm not so sure Jacob is Daniel either anymore. I went searching for that one image we have of Jacob from a previous season; he's not as scraggly-looking as I remembered:

jacob_l.jpg

My other questions - where are all the kids? The Others kidnapped children from the Tailies in the second season; and the camp where Walt was held also had children. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Since no baby could be born on the island, maybe she was adopted.

That's who I'm thinking!

Remember a few season's back, they showed a shadow-y figure of Jacob, sitting in the rocking chair in the cabin. The image was frozen and analyzed on alot of fan sites and many people thought it was Richard Alpert - with scraggly hair and facial hair. That theory was dismissed and people figured it was just someone we hadn't met yet.

Looking at Faraday now, it could be him!

All the sites I went to at the time had shots of "Jacob" that were CLEARLY Christian.

Again - I just love Miles! Sawyer: "Translate"; Miles: "He's Korean; I'm from Encino.":lmao:

I think the bigger question is why did Jin KNOW she could? He asked her right away, not Myles. Sawyer told Myles to translate and Jin kept looking at Charlotte.

I'm not so sure Jacob is Jack's dad. REmember when Locke saw Christian and Claire in the cabin and Locke asked if he was Jacob? Christian said no, he's not Jacob but he can speak for him.

I don't think Daniel is Jacob either. Daniel is Eliose/Ellie's son (I also think Eliose is the grown-up Ellie) with Widmore. MAYBE (and this is really stretching it here.....maybe Aaron is Jacob reincarnated?
I totally don't rememeber the bolded part, but I think you're right which throws an interesting wrench...plus I vaguely expect to see Claire with Christian since the last time we saw her, she was with dear old dad...

When they were looking for a translation from Jin, didn't they first look at Miles and he said I don't speak Korean I speak________ (something different)

What was said is in one of the early quotes I quoted from Camster...He said "He's Korean; I'm from Encino."

I thought one interesting part was at the beach with Jin and Danielle. When Jin came across the corpses I said, "Wow, they could be twins, I don't remember twins on the boat." lol Then when we saw "Robert" and Danielle I realized the smoke monster was sending out flesh and blood replicas of Robert?! And Danielle had already killed two? No wonder she's nuts and doesn't remember Jin...

I think it's interesting that the island can do this and it's been confirmed, so all of the "dead" people we saw come back and talk to the Losties weren't just in their imaginations or hullucinations, they were "real"?

And one more thing, we know that Daniel has 2 more very important jumps,
1. To see child-Charlotte
2. To go into the being built Orchid station...
So I guess John doesn't completly fix things...maybe he just makes it happen less frequently?

I know - fair skin, piercing blue eyes, red hair....Not a whole lot of Asian genetics going on there. Like I said, it was just speculation. :goodvibes

So the question remains. What is Charlotte's island history???

I totally agree.

She did remember Jin - didn't she say something like - "you disappeared!" because of the time flash?

OK, this is a way cool theory!

I thought last season Jin figured out she understood Korean and called her on it :confused3 Anyone else remember the specifics?
