The Official Harper's Island thread starts 4/9/09....

It reminded me so much of the horror movie April Fool's Day. But I'm getting a little tired of nothing but reality shows so I'll keep tuning in.

Its only On till June I believe its a 14 week show, so hope it makes it thru all 14 weeks.:confused3So far, 2 people were killed, but that little girl is a bit off...:scared:

I know how you feel. I'm tired of reality shows too. I'm an ER fan so I'm sad that show ended. The new NBC show Southland doesn't seem too interesting. I kind of like that Harper's Island isn't a show focused on cops and doctors.

I posted the same thing about April Fool's Day on another message board! I was disappointed but will keep watching, hopefully it will get better.

I'm a little sad about ER ending. But I really didn't find the promos for Southland interesting.
I did record the pilot of Southland. (It was rebroadcast over the weekend.) I watched about 1/3 of it and turned it off. I didn't see anything really attractive about the show, so you didn't miss much.

I was kind of disappointed with it. The storyline reminded me a little too much of at least 1 million other horror movies I've seen that involve a hotel in a remote location that is difficult to enter or exit, but the stars have shown up at the end of the busy season so the victims have the place all to themselves! Won't that be great! Seriously. I have seen this already.
Another whodonit mystery was presented in the fall of '05, by Fox, called Reunion. It was also severely derivative and mediocre. 4 of its 13 episodes never aired.

I don't hold out much hope for the show.

Don't read if you don't want to know what happens in the first episode...

I just can't believe they killed off Harry Hamlin in the first episode! I love Harry Hamlin.
I was pretty sure, the minute I saw him, that he'd be among the first to go. He's too pricey at this point, I suspect, to pay him for all 13 episodes.

Just 13 weeks actually. I think the biggest challenge is that May sweeps starts after next week's episode. If ratings drop off significantly for the second episode, don't be surprised if the show, at least, gets furloughed until the end of May (pushing the finale into early August). Due to the backlash Fox got for never showing the ending of Reunion (see above), perhaps CBS will at least be sure to show the 13 episodes of Harper's Island, no matter how poorly they do, though we might see them shifted to Saturday night, opposite Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, and Dirty Sexy Money.

I think they needed to jam a lot into the first hour to get us up to speed on what was happening and who the characters were, etc. I hope that the show settles down now and becomes a really great whodunit. I think next week will be a telling episode!

I really liked this show! I will tune in next week! Plus the fisherman is really cute!:lovestruc

I watched the encore of the Southland pilot on Saturday too. I really didn't care for it. I remember Reunion and I'll admit I was sad when it was canceled. The acting was bad in some episodes but it sort of started to get good in the last few episodes that aired. I saw a ratings article and both Southland and Harper's Island got around 9 million viewers each which isn't too bad. I'll think stick with Harper's Island. Maybe the show will improve and we will get more background on the characters.

Just watched the first episode online since I was out of town last week. Not quite what I expected but it kept me entertained. I'll definitely tune in tonight. I like the casting so far but can't believe Uncle Marty is gone! I love Harry Hamlim from way back on LA Law.

So someone new dies every week, right? And they are all major characters, right? Hmmmm.... I'm thinking the bride's mother (or is she a stepmother?) will be one of the first to go.

The tag line says that everyone is suspect. They are trying to portray the little girl as disturbed. I think we can rule her out right away. The way Uncle Marty was sawed in half, no little girl could of done that!

Did anyone else notice that the Bride's earrings changed during the episode?

If you DVR'd it, watch the earrings change...first she is wearing pearls and diamond studs....then she is wearing some kind of black earrings for one scene.....back to pearls for the rest of the show (no change of clothes). Just a little "blooper".

So far, so good. I love the forrest scenes, they did a good job portraying the island.

I just finished watching tonight's episode. It was a lot better than last week's.

I'm still not too sure. Some of the character's are a little far-fetched. Shane...come on....do grown men really act like that? In my neck of the woods, he would of gotten his butt kicked on more than a few occasions.

I fell asleep ten minutes before the end. Did anyone ever come across uncle Marty? They are all running around the island, and nobody needed to cross the bridge that was used so often the week before???

Is the blonde dude still dangling upside down, or was he finished off?

I actually like it, DH not so much. I like the location and the scenery. I also like the idea of each week someone gets killed and you have to keep guessing who the murderer is. If I was on an island though and everyone was getting picked off one by one, I think I would catch the next boat to the mainland!

That's the thing though. As of 10:50pm, when I fell asleep, no one had found any of the 4 bodies. (5 if blondie got it). Were any of the bodies discovered in the last ten minutes of last nights show?

Cal (the upside down blonde) is alive and found (again)

The girl with the tats body was discovered by the bartender, Nikki.

Uncle Marty, the priest, and the girl with the dog were not found yet.

I'm hooked, but only because it's so bad I can't help but watch it. :sad2:

At this point, I don't care if they kill all of them next week, but I know I'll be watching.

Good catch! I noticed the black earrings but didn't notice that they had changed. I wonder if it is significant. I've heard that there are little hidden clues like that.
