The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

Believe it or not, we just started watching Gilmore Girls and we LOVE it. It is just so out there and funny. I am thinking about getting the previous seasons on DVD.

Me too, I am getting them through Netflix - I am almost through Season 1.. I am saving the four episodes on Disc 5 for tomorrow while I am working (I work at home, and usually have the TV for company)and in car line to pick my DD up after school - love my portable DVD player!!! I should have 3 other DVDs to watch over the weekend!

Just watched last nights episode....
I admit it too, I liked Logan last night. And he can type 90 words a minute??! Imagine how many posts I would have if I could do that!! :teeth:

Paris=annoying, and wacko. I think she has to go. Her time is up.
I would much rather see more of Lane.

Luke--wake up!! You need to include Lorelei--your future wife!--in your time with April!

A brief recap for funhouse:

Episode started with Lorelai getting up to meet Sookie at a flower market to select flowers for the wedding. Luke asks her where she's going and she doesn't want to tell him. She finally does, and then says she hadn't had time to call Sookie to tell her the wedding was off so she has to go. Luke gets up and tries to hug her and she avoids it.

She meets Sookie at the market and tells her the wedding's postponed. Sookie immediately asks her what she did and starts babbling the way Sookie does. I was actually annoyed with her during this. Lorelai finally gets a word in and tells her what's going on. They decide to not cancel anything yet, as maybe Luke will get adjusted quicker than he thinks.

Sookie takes Paul Anka home with her to test to see if she's a dog person before getting one. Luke's left a message on Lor's machine saying April was coming to the dinner until 8pm and he'd see Lor after 8. You can tell she's upset by this.

She goes to Taylor's candy shop and watches April and Luke through the window. Pretty much the whole town joins her gossiping. She gets upset and leaves. After she leaves Luke notices everyone watching and gets annoyed. He vents about this to Lor later. He thanks her for understanding he needs "alone" time with April. Lorelai at this point is pretty visable crushed by the whole thing, and Luke is an idiot for not noticing (okay, so that last comment was not exactly part of the summary but just a personal opinion).

So, on to Rory: She finally agrees to dinner with Logan on Thursday night. But on Thursday when she goes to the paper to finalize her article, the whole staff has quit and Paris is trying to put the whole paper out on her own. She's clearly past rational thought. Rory takes charge and starts calling people and giving orders to get the paper out. Logan arrives to pick her up and she apologizes for not being able to go to dinner. He says he'll help and off they go. They get the paper out on time. Paris is nuts.

Lorelai talks Rory into a Friday night dinner with the grandparents. It's a lot of little scenes of yelling between different people and some scenes of normal conversation. At the end of it, you see the two of them leaving, looking disheveled, and Lor says, "well, I think we just reinstituted Friday night dinners".

Preview for next week shows Rory telling her mom something over the phone that her mom doesn't like.

My fingers are numb from typing now! Unlike Logan, I can't type 90 wpm...only about 45-50. :)

Good summary Mal :thumbsup2

You were spot on with the assessment of Luke. It's bugging me that they are making this so out of character for him. He's always read Loreli like a book and known what she wanted/needed before even she did. I just can't belive that he hasn't acknowleged that she's NOT cool with the whole backseat thing.

Oh, I missed it can someone help me with a total recap or info on where i can watch it. I'm so dumb, I love this show and my dd who is away at school said Oh you missed a good one. What happened? :confused3 Thanks

If you miss an episode, go to www.televisionwithoutpity.com and go to the Gilmore Girls Recap. Sometimes takes a couple of days to get posted, but it really is in depth and lots of times with funny comments. That's what I had to do. Now I have DVR!!! :cool1:

I'm still not sure I buy the fact that Lorelai and the rest of us are supposed to "magically", suddenly like Logan. He's always had his moments, but overall we were supposed to hate him.

OH, and WHERE is Marty?

Wow, Mal. That was a great re-cap!

Maybe they were just trying to get us to think this but dd and I both got the impression from the previews that Rory is pregnant. Hopefully, it's something a little less dramatic. :teeth:

You know, I've always kind of liked Logan although he annoyed the heck out of me in that episode with Jess. And I did like him a lot in last night's episode. And I loved Paris's bunker with all the stuff taped to the walls.

Luke just really needs to get with the program regarding Lor. I wanted to smack him last night when he was talking about alone time with his daughter.

I did enjoy the dinner scenes! I thought it was pretty amusing although at first dd and I were both going What the heck?

Well, unless they skip ALOT of time between last ep and next ep, I don't see how Rory could be pregnant (or know she was). She hasn't been with Logan since before Thanksgiving...either she would have had to know for awhile now (which doesn't seem to be the case), or it would have to happen in the next 7 days, in which case she wouldn't even be aware of it yet.

eta: you know, I spend WAY too much time thinking about this!! :teeth:

just throwing my 2cents in....

I loved the whole newspaper deadline scene on tuesdays episode!!! Rory and Logan work great together!!!

and the dinner scene was a hoot.

I am mad a luke for being like that to lor.

Thanks Maleficent13 for the great recap! I think you helped me once before your reviews are the next best thing to seeing it.

Thanks also malibuconlee - What a great site. I put that one in my favorites, Gina :teeth:

I LOVED tonight's Episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was great that Logan and Christopher get along so well!
I also thought it was sweet of Logan to offer her a place to stay.

Well, I thought last night's ep was pretty boring. My one question is:

Are Colin and Finn Logan's hired help? How come everytime Rory has to move, he sends Colin and Finn to do the lifting?

I was very disappointed in the episode last night. I thought she either got married or something more extreme than moving in with Logan. :bored:

:lmao: I hadn't thought about it, Mal, but you're absolutely right. How come he doesn't help out but sends his boys?

I liked the episode--particularly the Friday night dinner with the insurance horror stories. I'm having a hard time remembering what all was in the episode due to heavy duty cold medicine and the fact that I watched a big chunk of season 5 on dvd yesterday when I was home sick. :teeth:

ETA: Oh, I remember now. I got annoyed when Chris immediately called Lorelai before Rory had a chance to. And I loved the fact that Rory knew it because Lor hadn't called her Hester Prynne once. :rotfl2:

Sometimes I don't get christopher.... why does he sometimes meddle and then not have any contact for SOOOO long.

And I love the fact that Rory and Lor knew something was up with eachother, they read eachother SO well!!

I like Christopher. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I like him. I thought he was hysterical last night. I think he's just trying to give Rory the space she needs as an adult...letting her go to him. And now with Lorelai getting married, he's not sure where he fits anymore...I think that's natural.

I like Christopher too. I loved it when he and Logan were discussing prep schools- there are a few common threads there.

Are we being set up for a conversation/revelation later down the road where Christopher's early manhood and life course is very similar to Logan's path?

That is my guess. It was too odd and obvious of a conversation to not come back later. Especially after Christopher asked Loreli if it was okay that he liked Logan.
