The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

OK, having never been part of it for free before I am curious...when were the dates for last year? I am pretty sure they have not annouced free dining yet, but just curious when it has been for in the past.
Thanks!

I awoke late this morning and spent almost 2 hours just reading all the new posts! I can't get free dining until thursday, but was reading all the posts excitedly (is that a real word?) at first.... then I started to get worried! I already have reservations... have had them even before rumors of fd started circulating.... and my ta told me she will change the paid dining to fd as soon as it becomes available and email me. But as I read the posts this morning for all those booking today (congrats btw to all who got what they wanted) it sounds like the most the values will be completely booked! I already have a room at ASMo standard... if that is completely booked will I have to lose that room or will I still get fd added to that room? We have a room that has a handicap accessible bathroom and hate to lose that, but the fd makes the trip more affordable!

Let's drop the discussion of saying you are on the dining plan to get around paying. This board does not support getting around the rules. If the discussion continues we will have to close this thread.

There are rules in place by Disney for making reservations. If Disney sees that people are going around the rules they will make tougher new rules which will make it harder on everyone.

I havent seen anyone mention that yet in the thread, but I agree, cheating the system, however its done, isnt right... I wasnt aware of this happening anywhere

Neither have I :confused3 but it could have been deleted...I can't believe people would even attempt to cheat the system. They are being offered FREE DINING! :)

I just got confirmation from my TA...... I got my reservation changed with my disney visa......:rotfl: got free dining in a preferred room at All Star Movies from 9/21 thru 9/29. So excited.

It took me about 2 hours to read all the new posts. It's crazy.....now is there someplace where I can make my dining reservations online? I thought I saw a form on here at some point. My TA made a few but I want to get a couple more in today since she is probably so busy with reservations.

Good luck to all

Yeah...we just gotta think positive...especially since there's nothing we can do until Thursday.

I sure hope they release more rooms for it on Thursday. I can't figure out what my Disney Visa card Expiration date (can't find the card - it's somewhere in my house *ugh*).

Can you call Chase/Disney Visa customer service and ask them for the expiration date?

I have been reading the post on these threads for over a month, but this is my first post. Please some one tell me if the code will be the same on 4/12 when open to public as it is today. I have reservations at POR in September in hopes of the free dining (otherwise we would have stayed at Shades), when it looked like it was not going to be offered I called to cancel. The CM told me to hold on one week, cause if I canceled I may not be able to get any special at all if I did not call in time. To me this seems like they will honor free dining on any prior reservations as long as you call back and ask for it. The just have so many rooms to rent out, not so many at each hotel for the time frame. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Nope...cant' call and ask. We tryed that ;) A friend of mine couldn't find her card either but had the statement...so we tryed using that. She ended up guessing when her card expired and nailed it:thumbsup2 I think she just thought back to when she recieved the card (it was sometime within the last year) and since I just got my card a couple months before that we could kinda guess how long the cards were good for. Anyways it took her a couple tryes then she got it:lmao: One thing to keep in mind though is the code on the back...do they ever ask for that? She was booking something online and didn't happen to need it but I know alot of places do.

NOW back to my news:goodvibes I was soooo worried and stressed over this free dinning bit and that I didn't know if my TA was going to do what she needed to do inorder to get the promo added to our reservations. I was SO tempted to be up and on the phone first thing this morning just so I could book another trip for us JUST IN CASE our TA didn't come though. But I held off...and gave up control. I let the TA handle it all. And....She DID IT:banana:   She was able to get free dinning for our whole group for our four nights at POP. She did have to cancel our first reservations and 'rebook' us new ones...but just because of the way she'd booked them in the first place. Which I still don't quite understand what she did the first time....how ever she booked it the first time out deposit to just book was over $600....and our whole package was only a little over $700:confused3 Now that were rebooked our package went up a little...but we only had to put down a $200 deposit this time??? Go figure.

My TA did tell me that inorder to get the free package the WHOLE trip needed to be put on the Disney Visa. Anyone else get that info? I figure it really doen't matter one way or the other...I can always pay the amount directly to VISA as I'm applying more of the trip to the card...PLUS I can earn reward points.

Which leads me to wonder...anyone know how long it takes to redem points for $....if I wanted to cash out for the trip?

I doubt the code will be the exact same. I'd think they'd offer a slightly diffrent code for that...since it's a slightly diffrent promo. I could be wrong. I'm guessing as soon as a code is released it'll be posted on the DIS someplace. You can also always call and ask Disney. Thursday they should be able to look it up.

We had reservations at POP for this comming Sept that we made MONTHS ago. From what my TA said...when she "added" the free visa disney dinning plan onto our reservations...is "IF" we would have booked a package the first time (She ended up booking everything separtately the first time) then we could have just "ADDED" the promo to our reservation.

I think if they open the offer up to the General Public on thrusday and there is still avaliablity at the hotel that your at for the promo you shouldn't have a problem adding it to your reservation.:goodvibes

GOOD LUCK:hippie:

^^^ I don't know about the code.. but when I called today the CM didn't even ask me for a code. Just wanted to verify the card # was a disney visa and I had to pay the deposit w/the disney visa. :)

I do have a question for you Disney Visa ppl though... !!! The CM I spoke with told me (I think) that the rest of the vacation must be paid with the Disney Visa... ??? Was anyone else told this?? Just wanted to know, cuz that means I need to pay off my visa ASAP! ha ha

I don't have a Disney Visa, and I don't know for certain, but I am VERY skeptical about that being a requirement. I could see that being required if DV people were getting a special rate that was not available to the public. But the DV are only getting a head start on the general public, not a better rate. I'm sure the people at Chase would just love it if all these people, not knowing any better, put their whole trip on their Disney Visa cards. But, unless you are willing and able to do that, I'd get that in writing. If it truly is required they should have it in writing on your invoice when it comes.

I doubt this will work but I thought I'd ask anyway. I have a Disney Visa. I'm helping a friend book her trip because she's never been. Can I get her the discount with my card if the reservation is in her name?

My CM said no, you just have to pay the deposit with it. I'm booking for our whole grand gathering, so it would have taken some fancy footwork to pay off everyone's balances with just my little old Visa. LOL

Wait a a couple of weeks, and keep calling back to see if they have any rooms open at ASMo. In 2005 we had the sme problem. Mt TA tried again and was able to switch us from ASMu to ASMo.
I just got through and talked to a very nice cm. However, POP was not available for my nights 9-12 to 9-19 :sad1: I booked All Star Music instead. I'm a little disappointed about that, but hey, I'm talking my son on his first Disney trip!!

I don't know how they could enforce this! First of all, the CM I booked with didn't tell me this and there is nothing in the "terms" associated with my reservation on-line that says this is a requirement.
And, at any time a person can go online, call you their reservation and pay it off with Disney Reward Dollars or a credit card. I can't imagine the system will reject a payment not on a DISNEY branded Visa!
