The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

I just posted this on the other free dining thread...

I called this morning to try to book a package using this code. No dice. It is a "room only" code. I can only speculate that it's due to free dining being offered during the same period. That would just be too cheap!

A room only code does not qualify for free dining or any dining, you need to purchase a package.

The suspense is killing me. I'm thinking that no new specials will be announced until after April 14th, which is when the current special for a room only rate expires. Disney seems to like to have one special out at a time. I think it's to keep us on our toes

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, however, not new to wdwinfo. I come to this site and read the forums often as I'm always looking for the best deal. This year my family (hus, daughter 6) are going to stay at either AK or WL. I've been coming to this site and disneyworld.com for months looking for the free dining. I'm always getting great information and am praying for the dining deal Oct 6-13. By the way, which resort (AK or WL) do any of you prefer?

We want to try AKL since we have been to WL already. We visited AKl and it looks incredible. It doesn't look like your dates will work with free dining. The dates are supposed to be 8/26-9/22 check in. October is a busier month now and they will not extend free dining. Do you have fall break in October? That is when we are going but we won't be getting free DDP. I have to keep checking though because my brothers family wants Free DDP and AKL. Welcome to the DIS :welcome:

Please don't hate me (as she cringes, knowing everybody is going to hate her for asking this for the zillionth time....)

From those who have had past experience with free dining, is it absolutely certain that you cannot add the free dining onto an existing package that falls within the range of dates for the promotion? Or is this one of those things where it depends on the CM who answers the phone? Anybody with experience want to chime in?

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, we do have a fall break. It will be the second year for our schools so we thought we would take advantage of a trip to Florida when the temps will not be so hot. I love AK. But I just recently looked at pictures of WL and it looks so nice. :cheer2: It's the only resort that we haven't either stayed at or at least visited during a trip.

I'm still trying to get used to this forum. I've never going on....just looked at posts in the past.

I've never added free DDP, but I have added free water parks plus to an existing package without any trouble at all. I have added many different things to an existing package, so I wouldn't think that added free DDP would be any different :flower3:

And did you book that existing package within the range of time for the promotion to be booked, or was it booked before?

I had it booked b4 and then added it when it came out. Luckily for my sanity I did not know about free dining so I wasn't obcessed like I am now looking for it. I happened upon it late in the offer. It was toward the last part of when you could book it.

If my memory serves me correctly, and thats a big if, I believe you will have no problem changing it as long as the package for free dining is available for the resort and time you want to go. Just because you have a existing reservation does not mean you can always get the free dining.

Yep, that's what I thought. We are going in early August for 9 nights and it's looking like we won't get free dining for that trip. But, the more I think about it, the more I want to go for a 4-day weekend in September to do the MNSSHP. I booked the Poly today for that trip and now I'll just cross my fingers and hope that it's available there. Otherwise, I'll have to see what I can get. This would be about the only way possible I could afford to stay there. :)

This is starting to get to me all this waiting!! I have the disney fever too Pam!! My husband also thinks, I am way past gone when it comes to Disney! The boxes that arrive from Disneyshopping, all the time I spend on the Disboards. I mean, sometimes I really try to take some time off from the Disboards. But the withdrawel pains show up, sooner than later and by day three, I develop slight twitching. I am addicted, what can I say he just does not understand. :lmao: :rotfl:

Argh!, Ive been lurking and just finished booking all our flights,

Were going to be in WDW 26th - 2nd Sept, were going regardless of Free dining, but with it in our Aussie Dollars for the 2 of us it will save about $800 together!! which we like the sound of!!!,

Too bad we can't book under the UK site, we are part of the commonwealth doesn't that count for something :P

Announce it already!!!!!

LOL!!! Me too I pack early too. I also pack waaaay to much!! My hubby also thinks I'm nuts going on here and the Disney Website all the time!!! I blame him cuz I had no interest in going 2 yrs ago and now I am hooked and he is to blame.....he created a disney monster....hmmmmm wonder what we could call me!!! lol

So what are all your kids names? 4 girls 3 boys? I have 5 boys 1 girl.:goodvibes

Abigail, Connor, Ethan, Joshua, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Lillianne. After 3 boys in a row, I thought dd#1 was a fluke. Then low and behold, 3 more girls! lol princess: princess: princess:

This obsession is my dh's fault too. In 2003 he brought up the idea and I shot him down. Figured the kids were too young. He said no. Then the "Kids stay and play free" deal came out. And we found out how relatively cheaply one can go, with a sale. The rest is history!

This will be our third trip with kids, and we seem to add a kid each time we go. :rolleyes1

"If you believe in free dining, Clap you hands!!! Now say, I do believe in free dining, I do, I do."

PS- Does anyone know the answer to my question about adding on a room only night at a discount if you already have a package at a different discount first?

I don't know for certain, but I can't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. I would think you'd just have to make a separate reservation for the one night using the discount code.

Ok, that's what I was thinking. Of course, I was hoping to get one of those emails for the 1 night room only, but I keep checking today and nada. LOL

But now I have the info in hand, just in case.
(Holding my breath until I turn blue for 11 nights of free dining. )

Last year we had a 10 day package with free dining and a one night room only ressie with a separate discount code. We did have to check out and check back in on our last day, but we were able to keep the same room although that is not guaranteed.

That's how our obsession started. After the first trip we were hooked ;) . Our once in a lifetime trip has turned into an annual vacation. Planning our first trip helped keep me distracted well my DS had Kawasaki's disease. After our first trip we decided that it was the perfect vacation. A place that can accomodate all of us and we can all have fun.

Now if only free dining would come out we could make two trips this year:woohoo: .

It was in my junk mail folder. Good thing I checked it this morning before emptying!

Could you possible send me the email address that it came from so that I can add that address to my address book so it will come to my reg mailbox.

When I called the last time, Disney said I had an expired code that I never saw. The junk mail thing might explain it.

TIA.

Gretchen
