The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

Christmas Eve 05 I got engaged, and by the next morning I had already told me fiance and everyone else that we were going to Disney for our honeymoon. We luckily picked Sept 23 for our wedding date and waited a while before booking Disney. Like everyone else posting, I jumped for joy last year when they announced free dining the first part of April. We booked soon there afterwards. We want to go back the last week in Sept this year for our 1 yr anniversary, so I hope they do free dining and it would be really wonderful if it was until Sept 30. Please, please, please Disney! :tinker:

9/06 All Star Music: honeymoon

Does anyone remember if you can stay at the All Star suites on the dining free promotion.

There are supposedly a certain number of room/tix/free dining packages for each resort and room type, although no one knows what that magical number is for each resort. I am sure you can call and request one of the AS suites, but who knows if there will be any rooms available?!? Were any of the AS suites even open last year during the promotion? :confused3 Good luck and keep wishing for the free dining pixie dust! :wizard:

Hello,
I am new to the boards, this is my first post.
Last year my husband 2 children and I stayed at the All Star Sports and enjoyed the free dining plan. It was our first experience with it and we loved it. As I recall, it was offered for summer dates (which we did not want due to the heat) and them extended to late summer dates (boy were we glad we waited). We went at the end of September. We go almost every year and I used to work at Disney, MKCP, that is the only acronym I know, Magic Kingdom College Program. Well, all that is off the subject, but yes it was offered and I like so many others hope they will offer it again so we can once again go and enjoy Mickeys NSSH (make that 2), Trick or Treating in New England can be very cold brrrr...

Good luck to all of us.. my tiker is counting down to the dates that I hope to book for, but they are so kewl I just had to have one!

I heard from someone who has an inside scoop that the Free Dining Promotion will come out early April and Start on August 23rd. Don't know end date.

We won't be arriving until the 27th of September! I really hope that it ends on the 29th/30th! If we get free dining then we can afford to upgrade to a deluxe!! (We haven't even booked yet---We have our airfare, but are waiting and waiting for the offical annoucement)

Come on Disney! I'm getting antsy!!!
LOL

My DW believes the free dining dates will begin in late August this year, because Orange County Public Schools, (which include the Orlando Area) are starting August 20th this year as compared to August 7th last year. She concludes - the parks will be pretty crowded with the Florida School kids so there will be no need to offer the free dining program in early August as they did last year. I've told her to "STOP WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE WAVES!" So........ who knows what Disney will do.:confused3 I only know that Disney says this is the year of a million dreams and my dream is for free dining so we can go! So they are gonna offer it in early August!:wizard:

Many school systems in the south are starting school later this year. I'm sure that is playing a role in the dates of the free dining plan.

I'm wondering how long it will be before the start of value season is moved back to the last week in August.

Columbus Day is October 8 this year. That's pretty early. Chances are WDW wants to prevent free dining stays extending through that quite busy weekend.

NYC and many surrounding public schools systems are closed for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Columbus Day. The Catholic schools are closed for Columbus Day. Depending on when these 3 holidays fall, they could really have a huge impact on park levels and the free dining plan.

In 2005 the dates were very close and many from this area headed to WDW for free dining and MNSSHP. It was the perfect time to do it without the kids missing too many days from school. When I looked at the dates, we could have gone for 8 days and my son would have only missed 3 days of school.

I am curious when they will offer this. I am still new to all of this (I have always been a huge disney fan. I am still trying to figure out all the abbrevations of everything.

Labor day is Sept 3. Rosh Hashanah is Sept 13 and Yom Kippur is Sept 22. So given that those holidays are about a week apart that could spell trouble for those looking to go for free dining!

DD4 will be entering K this year, so I contacted our education coordinator for some advice on when taking her out for a vacation would be least offensive (DH is NYPD, so vacacations are allowed based on seniority). We will be going the week of Rosh Hashana (hopefully). We did this once before, when we took DD13, and I think the holidays coincided, so they missed less than a week of school. This year, I'm thrilled they are offering the little kid's EMH at MK again!

So, I'm confused on this free dining thing...what happens if this is offered and you already have a plan with the dining option on it? We are going in September and we have the package that includes the dining. We have not payed the vacation off yet so would I still be able to get free dining?

You would have to call-they won't just apply it to your reservation without a prompt from you. When you call you may find that the resort or room type that you have is not available with the free dining discount so you may need to be flexible. You can change or even cancel your current reservation without penalty (even if it was all paid off) up to 45 days out from your arrival date.
