The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

I am still uncertain if we will rent one. I have an 8&5 yr ok'd. The 8 yr old should be fine, but if 5 yr old has a stroller I can hear her whining already about it? Hmmm?

We are not the type to go back to the hotel for a rest. Maybe this trip we will have too? I just worry about loosing park time for traveling to and from hotel? Does anyone else go back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon?

We donated all of our baby items including stroller not thinking about weeks like this? I might try freecycle and see if anyone has a stroller to borrow? Just seems like DD 8 us way too old for it? Please no flaming me (I an well aware the an 8 yr d usually doesn't need a stroller but if 5 yr old has one she will want one :/)

This is only my experience, so please take it as such. First off, I loathe strollers... as soon as my son could walk, that stroller was history. He and I went to WDW our first time when he was turning 4 during that trip. He did great! His little legs worked just fine. We went back and rested at the resort every single day, and I just made sure to allow time for that. If not, he would have been a cranky, whining mess -- and me too! -- and a stroller would not have changed that. There was plenty of time for that afternoon break, and it allowed us to be up at dawn and out late at night (we're both nightowls by nature.)

As far a stroller for one and not the other goes, that's just where you have to say to the 8 year old, "You're *8* -- you don't need a stroller, and that's that." And you leave it at that. I only have the one child, but no way would I ever give in to whining from an 8 year old about wanting a stroller just because their much younger sibling had one. Honestly, I would explain to the 5 year old that they're too big for a stroller too, and that they'll be able to have so much more fun when they can hop, skip, and jump around. :goodvibes

But again, that's just my experience and lifestyle!

I think 5 would *probably* be my limit for a child in a stroller (and that's only at WDW, not for a day at the mall, lol). Once you turn 6 -- sorry, you're walking. Then again, we are not stay-'til-midnight people. We're in bed early (8:00). Plus, I have TALL kids. My 7.5 DS is almost as tall as me! He's probably 4.5' feet tall. I don't think he could physically FIT into any stroller. He will be whining I'm sure but if he really doesn't want to walk any more, that's fine -- he can go back to the hotel with me or DH. ;)

For anyone going in February, I just noticed on WDW website, they added extra fantasmic shows for the first week of February.

Do you think that will change the best park/worst park to visit? I wonder if they're anticipating higher crowds.

Thank you! Looks like they added a second show each day its playing

How does this affect crowd levels? I assume they expect heavier crowds or they wouldnt add a second show.

We are going on the 9th and it the park is also open an hour later (9pm now). We have a fantasmic package so plan to see the first show at 7:30pm. After the show is there a ride we could go on while everyone else is at the second fantasmic show? Do you think the TSM waits will still be crazy?

Sorry, I basically asked this same question. Hadn't read down far enough to see if anyone else had.

Does anyone know what the crowd level is for Feb 1 to Feb 9? I checked the website but missed the days I am looking for :sad2:

Good Morning(afternoon) happy people!

25 days left!

Rough weekend for a three day weekend. DH has a serious ear infection, according to his dr his left ear is so filled with fluid he was surprised it had not ruptured. :scared1:
Our little dog (zelda) poped one of her staples out (she was spayed last wednesday), and that was even with her cone of shame on!

Weather was stunning in the high 70's low 80's most of the weekend. I hope its like that in FL also!!

have a great day!!

I hope you don't think we're ignoring you... it's just that I don't think any of us want to get in trouble with either the DIS boards and Touring Plans by giving out that info when it's against the rules of both. :guilty: But you can check www.easywdw.com and look at their crowd calendar. I have no idea how accurate it is, but that should help you ballpark it at least!

Kristi ~ Your poor hubby and poor puppy! Hope they're both on the mend soon! But I have to tell you, if it ends up being in the 80's when we go, I'll be the one you find passed out somewhere on the sidewalk, lol. I'm praying for upper 60's-lower 70's!

Alli ~ How are you and your fam doing, germ-wise?? Hopefully better now!!

Hi Gina- DH is now sick- called off work today which is something he never does. DD is on the mend. DS hasnt got sick yet- makes me nervous. He has asthma and catches things rather easily- hoping that if he gets whatever is going around he gets it like NOW.

Confused- the WDW website shows the extra fantasmic shows, but the travel planner website does not- hmmmm

Also- sure you all caught this but for those going around presidents day- it seems that the changed the MK hours so that the park now opens at 8am!

I'm almost 100% sure that with the Fantasmic! dinner package, you can only see the first show. I hope someone else can confirm?

I got my final itinerary from my Dreams Unlimited travel agent today. Lots of good advice in there :) But nothing I didn't already know from reading the DIS boards :rotfl:

As for strollers, if you think your kid needs one, then use one. Who cares how old they are. People at WDW wear funny clothes, funny hats, fanny packs. . . as long as you are happy and comfortable, then do what you want :)

There is no doubt of course that I'm using one with my 3 year old DD. She is such a suck, she'll probably spend most of the time in the stroller! We are bringing one from home so we can use it at the airport and while travelling to/from the parks. We actually bought new one (First Years Ignite) which has a 50lb weight capacity, since we will likely use it again for future trips. We had a cheap 35lb one and even though DD is only 30 lbs, she'll be a LOT more comfortable in the big one (which still folds up quite compact) It was just weird though to buy a new stroller at age 3

You can, I believe it's $12/day.

I just feel silly having to might do this. Do you think people will look at me weird. Like what the heck does she need that for, she's just pregnant...

Is anyone having anything deliverd to your room for valentines day? I was thinking of doing something for my son and hubby.

Well, let's see there are a million reasons. I was on partial bed rest with both my pregnancies...which meant, I could go shopping (going to Target was the highlight of my week)...but I had to ride in a wheelchair.

Besides that....JUST pregnant? No way, you are currently in charge of one of life's most precious and beautiful gifts - it's not like you're just trying to not walk around - kwim?

So my vote is still ride when you need, enjoy your trip & don't give a hoot about what someone else might think :)

probably only people who have never been pregnant! :lmao: With my last pregnancy I could hardly walk from 1 room to the next when I was 31 weeks pregnant, never mind traipse around a park all day. I had such bad back/sciatica problems.

Serously, I don't think anyone would even look twice. How do they know you don't have a sprained ankle or fractured leg or something?? :confused3

That's what I was thinking... by 31 weeks, I was too huge and exhausted to move much -- no WAY could I have done WDW. Go for the wheelchair!! ::yes::

Hey everyone! Had A GREAT weekend!!! Celebrated my bday!! (lots of dis gift cards - yes!) The NY JETS won!!!! and I got Mickey Mail!!!!!!!!!!

I know how you feel.. I am thinking about a wheelchair or a scooter due to a knee injury and I feel wierd and like I will be judged.

Whatever helps make your vacation easiest, is the way to go. I know that we will have a much better time if I am in a wheelchair than everyone having to wait for me or me trying to keep up and over doing it!

I say take the break and enjoy yourself.

Happy Belated Birthday!!! Sounds like you had a great weekend!

Maybe today is the day I get Mickey mail... :goodvibes

I say do what *you* need to do. If people are judging you, then they need to get over it. Its your vacation, and they should be enjoying theirs and not worrying about everyone elses!

Dsnylvr - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!
