The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Okay, I *so* don't want to be at work today... They were just playing the full Test Track ride-through on the Live365 station I'm listening to, and now I'm too jazzed up to possibly concentrate on work, lol. :thumbsup2

Our weather is being so screwball this week... reminds why packing for a February trip is always a crap shoot. The high today is 59 and it's all drizzly, tomorrow the high is 68, Wednesday is 62, Thursday it's up over 70, and then Friday the high is 48. Seriously, we never even know what laundry to do from week to week... You might need shorts, might need sweatshirts. It's a wonder we don't all have pneumonia!! :sad2:

Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far!

Back from the doc with mini-me dd(2) she has bacterial pink eye and an ear infection as a result from her never ending cold a while back- FUN. Now she is on Augmentin for te next 10 days. On a good note, after she finishes her medicine we will only have 6 days left till Disney!!!

Gina-Jealous! It was 9 degress this morning! We are expected to have a heat wave tomorrow with a high of 38, but the problem is the temp is supposed to drop back down again quickly- causing an ice storm. LOVELY lol

Can't wait for our disney trip 12-16 but now I am second guessing if I am going to make it through the parks day in and out. I will be 31 weeks pregnant and its starting to get harder.

Does anyone know if I can get a wheel chair for some of my visit?

You can, I believe it's $12/day.

Gina - very jealous of the weather there... We are freezing here and awaiting yet ANOTHER snow storm/possible ice storm...

Allison - not to be a downer, but you might want to pick up a few more tubes of the glow sticks. I bought them during Halloween and at least half did not work. If you buy a few packages, you will get enough to make it through.

It is getting closer and closer. My spare room looks like a suitcase war zone!! I have all of my collected items along with the suitcases! Can't wait to fill them up and fly to the happiest place on earth!! :wizard:

I was really feeling ill at EPCOT in April(nothing catchy), no other problems normally, and they just gave us a chair. :confused3 Any other time I would have headed back to our room and called it a day, but the only day my mom was there to watch the kids and give dh and I a date, was that day.

just reserved the stroller........

I am still uncertain if we will rent one. I have an 8&5 yr ok'd. The 8 yr old should be fine, but if 5 yr old has a stroller I can hear her whining already about it? Hmmm?

We are not the type to go back to the hotel for a rest. Maybe this trip we will have too? I just worry about loosing park time for traveling to and from hotel? Does anyone else go back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon?

We donated all of our baby items including stroller not thinking about weeks like this? I might try freecycle and see if anyone has a stroller to borrow? Just seems like DD 8 us way too old for it? Please no flaming me (I an well aware the an 8 yr d usually doesn't need a stroller but if 5 yr old has one she will want one :/)

For anyone going in February, I just noticed on WDW website, they added extra fantasmic shows for the first week of February.

I have a 7.5 year old DS who is *always* wanting to get in DD3's stroller when we do a lot of walking. I'm renting one for DD but over my dead body will DS be getting into it at that age (and size)!!!

Hi DLB,

We're going to wdw for the second time in 30 days -AAAHHHHH!!!! -- and we have an 8yo and a 5yo as well. I'm totally not worried about my 5 yo, LOL. He'll run around the parks like a little Mickey Maniac. When we went last time my daughter was 6 at the time and totally checked out each morning because the parks were so overwhelming and it was hot and crowded. We couldn't get her OUT of the stroller. (I wish I had a stroller for me!) As for worrying about what other parents thought about my kids being too big for strollers... it came down to this: total misery without them. Happiness with them. I lost whatever doubts I had about it about 30 mins inside our first park on the first day. "That's it! I'm getting a double stroller!"

So I don't know what to expect this time, other than the fact she's way too big for one. I think we'll wing it and cross that stroller-bridge when we get to it, watch my five yo and see how he does. At least the Disney ones are big. And you can catch people returning their rentals and "buy" it off them or find someone who is cool about giving you theirs. And as for leaving during the day for a break, we bought the park-hopper option this time (we didn't last time-don't ask) and take full advantage of it. Even if we don't make it back to the hotel, we can ride the monorail around or take a ferry ride or something to break up the day. Change the scenery. Hope that it's warm enough for a pool break.

But I have no advice for you. Sorry! Have a great trip.

sean

Thank you! Looks like they added a second show each day its playing

How does this affect crowd levels? I assume they expect heavier crowds or they wouldnt add a second show.

We are going on the 9th and it the park is also open an hour later (9pm now). We have a fantasmic package so plan to see the first show at 7:30pm. After the show is there a ride we could go on while everyone else is at the second fantasmic show? Do you think the TSM waits will still be crazy?

Yes, I did find it - GREAT detective work!!!
I am thinking we will go without a stroller? They are getting too old to be pushed around. If it is out of control we can always rent one there.

This weather is making me nervous for traveling!! I am praying that we do not have a storm on our travel day to go to the world, if I get delayed on the way home I will not be so upset!!! :rotfl2:

I am excited about the extra fantasmic show being added. Although it does worry me a little that it means the crowd levels will be higher?

:confused3 If we have the package can you go to either show?

Allison I would think that TSM would be a lower wait time, but with that ride it prob isn't promising...

YES & you absolutely should when you're tired!!! There's no reason to be walking around WDW 31 weeks pregnant and miserable!!!

I know I am going to be in the minority here...but WHO CARES! - Really, if you have a stroller for your 5 yr old , rent a double & if the 8 yr old wants to sit a spell does it really matter? I will be the first to confess - my kids are 5 years apart...so when youngest dd was 5 we rented a double stroller - it was just the 2 girls & I on our first girls trip....we never take breaks, she just took a power nap in the stroller...but when it was midnight and the 10 yr old was tired...I said, go ahead sit down next to your sister for a hour.....she did and got up after just resting her legs for a bit, while I pushed them around World Showcase...did I get funny looks - well probably but I could't see them because I was using all my energy to push them!:rotfl::rotfl: Especially when she was tired and we were leaving the parks...I made her sit there, so I could navigate the stroller AND know exactly where both kids were..no worrying about bumping into someone when I turned around to find oldest...so that's .02

Thank you for saying this.. My husband really feels safer with the kids in the stroller rather than wandering off. I guess whatever works and keeps everyone happy is the best idea!! After all we spend A LOT of money to go here and I want to make it easy on everyone!!!!
