The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

is anybody doing Universal on their trip?

I'm saving the last 2 days for those parks.

I'm trying to decide if I should make an ADR for a character breakfast on our last day, or just save it in case we wanted to go back to a park (not sure we'd have enough time for that). I'm hoping for a 3-3:30 flight out which would give us until around noon to do something.

Gina

do you ride the orange side of Mission Space? I almost didnt survive and I am a coaster fiend.

Nooooooooo! I can't handle anything that goes in circles, so just knowing the orange side is a big centrifuge is enough to keep me away. I  M:S so much -- I would hate to have it ruined for me forever by even trying the orange side. I'll stick with green. :goodvibes

Quick question.. then I really need to do some work today. ;)

Has anyone done the Wishes Dessert Party? Is it worth it? We saw the fireworks from Frontierland, as getting on Main Street or infront of the Castle was not an option.

DS and I did the dessert party in December, and *loved* it. The view of the fireworks was amazing, moreso because we didn't have to fight any crowds. Plus, the view of Tink from there is so cool! The desserts themselves were awesome -- I thought my son was going to tackle the nice lady carrying the fresh tray of chocolate covered strawberries. lol They also had a Photopass photographer right there, and we got some great shots with the castle in the background. It was worth every penny to me. :goodvibes

Gina- he starts Labor day week! We will see you- Monday at Ep, Tuesday of course at MK and Ohana, and Wednesday at DHS too :) Awesome! If offered, are you doing the dessert party this year too?

Mandy- Hows it going?

Hi Beth :)

Hi Dee

Hi Everyone else :)

Has anyone else planned their park days yet?

Gina, great schedule! Our dates totally overlap, but none of our park selections do :( I hate that we only have 5 days! I wish I could have more but DH and I are self-employed and we can't afford to shut down our business for too long (expecially in February which is busy season for us) :sad2: It's just the 2 of us, no other staff.

I know my schedule by heart now ;)

Thursday 2/10: arrive around 1pm, have lunch, do a bit of DTD and Epcot
Friday 2/11: BF at Crystal Palace, MK all day and Wishes from our hotel room (DD is afraid of fireworks so the window barrier will be helpful)
Saturday: MK all day, and perhaps DTD, Dinner at CRT
Sunday: BF at Chef Mickey's, DHS all day and Fantasmic with dinner at Mama Melroses's
Monday: AK am EMH (all day), dinner at Tusker House (maybe a break in between for hotel pool if it's nice)

I'm buying DD a pair of protective earphones since she doesn't like loud noise. I think we'll be able to do more things this way. I REALLY want to do the Haunted Mansion, hope it isn't too scary for a 3yo. I'd also LOVE to do Splash Mountain (alone since DD is too short)

I can't believe this trip is so far away. I've never booked a trip so far in advance (the longest I've ever had to wait was 2 months)

We plan on one day at Universal. We really want to see the Harry Potter part.

Rough outline

2/5 - arrive - have dinner with Chef Mickey
2/6 - ak/dhs
2/7 - swim at pool or typhoon lagoon
2/8 - universal
2/9 - swim at pool or typhoon lagoon (whatever we didn't do 2/7)
2/10 - mk/epcot

We bought the no expiration park hoppers last year and now as a seasoned pro ;) I realize it might have been better to just have a full day at each park. But ya live and learn and at this point I'm just glad we already have the tickets because DH got laid off. Again.:confused3:sad1::sad2:

We have finally come up with a tenative schedule for our "large" party :lmao: It has been so hard to come up with a "plan" due to 8 different people wanting 8 different things! So tenatively we have:
2/1- arrive at MCO, ME to POFQ, then after check in DTD or explore the resort depending on how tired the group is
2/2- MK with dinner at 1900 Park Faire possibly Wishes if people aren't too tired (we have 2 seniors and 1 5 year old on this trip so who knows how much things will change :rotfl:)
2/3- DHS with Mama Melrose/Fantasmic Package
2/4- AK with Breakfast at Tusker House (we went there last year and just loved it!)
2/5- MK with Breakfast at CRT, break mid day, then back in the evening for the parade and Wishes
2/6- Epcot with lunch at LeCellier, break mid day, then back in the evening for Illuminations
2/7- MK with dinner at Liberty Tree- break mid day- back for parade and Wishes
2/8- Epcot in the morning- ME at 2:55- Flight out of MCO at 5:55pm :sad1:

I know it is heavy on the MK, but my little one just loves all the things to do there. We might trade one day there with another day at AK, but who knows! I know the plan will change at least a hundred times between now and then! I guess that is the fun in planning!:rotfl2:

MamaJessie, sorry to hear your DH got laid off. . . but YAY for already having your tix!!! :yay:

Lamb, we decided not to go to Universal because we won't really have time.

Robeck, we'll be at MK on Friday as well :)

I am not on Facebook(I know I think I am the only one). I had a page once, but someone had to post a pic of me looking much like the stay-puff marshmellow man and I had to shut the old page down. Anyway, my question is does anyone know if a stroller swap is going on over there for February? I know they can't do them here anymore, but we did one in 2008 and it was wonderful. Can anyone help? Thanks! C

Count me (us) in for Feb 11-16 at POP. Just made reservations and ADRs.

SO excited!!

Sweet!! I bet we see each other all over the place! If I have enough wiggle-room in the budget by then, we are totally doing the dessert party again. Tyler Dean (DS) and I were just talking about that yesterday, how much we enjoyed it.

I hope like crazy that they extend it into February!! I don't see why they wouldn't -- they keep extending it anyway, likely because they have to be making money hand-over-fist on the thing. I guess whether it's worth it or not depends very much on the person/family, though... For my son and I, it's great, because we A.) just love the fireworks, B.) are crowd-phobic (ok, that's more my thing), and C.) looooove sweets. :lovestruc So it's just a perfect event to us. Plus, the small tables for 2 or 3 people are right there by the rail, so we had a primo spot!

Aww, that's too bad! :( 5 days is usually all we go for, too. When we went in December for my Great Graduation Celebration :goodvibes he and I were only there for 4 nights, and that was just way too short. We felt so rushed. This February trip, at 8 nights, is the longest we've gone in probably 7 years or so, and we are WAY excited about that!!

Since we'll have hoppers and will be taking advantage of EMH, I planned our days around the Touring Plans per-park recommendations for each day. For me, that subscription is worth every penny. Toss in the Lines app, and it's worth even more. We used the heck out of that in December! Helped SO much in maximizing our time!!

SO excited!!

Welcome!! We'll be at Pop for much of the same time! :goodvibes

Add me to the list please. Feb.13-23! Our longest stay to date! Staying at Carribean Beach Resort for our 10th wedding anniversary. So excited!

Congrats on the anniversary!!!

Sounds like a ton of people are all going the same week, so much the parks being less croweded.

My plans for MK on Feb. 11th are really just out of convenience. That is my last day there so I'll really be doing whatever was missed or was not given enough time during the week. The only definite for that day is actually at night. I'll be at the Polynesian sushi bar with my son. Sushi for him, mojitos for me until it's time to leave. We did this last Feb. and we decided it's worthy of a repeat. Who am I to argue?

Okay so my computer was infected to the point of no return and needed to be serviced so I couldn't really access the disboards for a few days(yea, and it's only 4 months old!!). I am addicted to my internet, so getting it fixed was a must! And to put the frosting on the cake so to say my van now has some sort of electrical issue that is draining my battery and causing it to no longer start after sitting for so long..grrr...all unexpected expenses that could go for more important things, i.e. DISNEY! :headache:

So...we have pretty much decided on POP, just have to call and hope they still have availablity!

Welcome to all the newbies!!!!:goodvibes

:rotfl: about the stay-puff...

In regards to stroller swaps, it would be AWESOME if one was going on. I'm dreading bringing the big beast along.....we did one last year as well as a fridge swap and it was very nice.
