His “win” will forever be tarnished by his actions. I hope he is banned by the Academy and that any project he is involved with will never qualify for an award.
While the physical altercation is awful, the joke was in bad taste. To make fun of Jada’s medical conduction? I saw a husband supporting his wife.
I imagine if I had to shave my head because of bald spots I would be sensitive too.
And I’m surprised at the comments about their cheating- if their relationship works for them - good for them.
He did not apologize. He excused it.I read about it this morning. Seems to me that Chris mad a joke in pretty poor taste, though likely unintentionally. Will got upset and defended her - not that it was right for him to slap Chris. Chris also understood that he had it coming and isn't making a big stink about it. Will apologized afterward. It's a real old-school way of handling it. As long as the parties involved are all satisfied, then I am too.
I don't see that happening since it is an Apple movie. They do have free trials, if someone wants to watch it. It is so worth it!Right now it's only available on Apple+. I'm hoping the Oscar buzz will encourage a push for additional platforms.
Last time Will got into a little fight his momma got scared and sent him to live with auntie and uncle in Bell Aire. I wonder what she'll do this time??? Lol.
If Chris Rock knew Jada had alopecia, then the joke was in poor taste, but it was still just a joke. I did not know that about her but do know that she has often worn a short hairstyle.
I understand the people who say he was defending his wife, but he went about it in the wrong way. If he had mentioned that the joke wasn't funny and he supported his wife with words, I think he would have found much more support. Of course, since the audience at the ceremony gave him a standing ovation, maybe they thought an adult hitting another person was fine.

I don’t think he did either.. She’s had super short hair for years. It seemed like a tame, kind of lame joke to me. I never knew she had a condition.I don’t believe Chris Rock knew about her medical condition. He appeared genuinely in shock when replying back it was a joke about GI Jane. The Academy vetted it.
The Academy vetted and had a rehearsal with the joke in it, with Will Smith in the audience. He already knew the joke was coming. He had not issue with it until the live broadcast. He appeared genuinely in shock when replying back it was a joke about GI Jane. The Academy vetted it.

Most likely, Chris didn't even write that joke. The Oscars has an army of comedy writers who write the jokes. Chris was likely just reading from the prompter. So yes, the joke was dumb and in bad taste but it's highly possible some other goofy comedian wrote it.
Darn, I'm going to miss this again this year.
Aw, Dan, we will miss you too. . . just like every other year you couldn't join in.![]()
I do though, seriously, hope everyone enjoys, and that everybody's favorites win. You're always great, Imzadi, putting these events together for everyone to enjoy.![]()
Did I miss anything interesting last night, Imzadi? Thanks Dan.![]()
And Will did not apologize to Chris in his speech.
I am in the camp that Will laughed until he realized Jada was ticked. He overcompensated with a mad reaction when he realized he shouldn't be laughing. I don't agree with some on social media that his laughing was just a carry over from the previous joke

It shouldn't matter. This is what drives me nuts...especially in DV situations (obviously not this,) but it's NOT UP TO the victim or shouldn't be. If you commit a crime you shouldn't hope or have the chance to persuade or intimidate your victim into you not having to face consequences. He assaulted someone on national tv with the world watching. No, it shouldn't be up to Chris Rock, it's THE PEOPLE v. the defendant, not the victim v. defendant in a criminal case. For heaven sake they don't even need Chris nor any testimony, you can clearly see what was done...the end.Just saw a statement from the LAPD on twitter via a local news site:
LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.
