The Academy was kind of in a spot. Will Smith had already won so they couldn’t change that. Maybe they hoped he would make it better somehow but they probably should have walked him out.

It would have been better if they announced him winning without him there. THAT would have been a real signal punching a presenter, no matter what they say, is NOT acceptable.
