Sooner Born, Sooner Bred, and when I die, I will be Sooner Dead...... :rotfl:

While we are not having the season that we had hoped at the beginning of the season, I will be in my seats rain or shine, win or lose.

This is one Sooner fan that will never "cut tail and hide."

Can I go off on a brief BCS-related rant? We haven’t been to the Rose Bowl in over 40 years, and my great fear is that when (not if!) we finally win a Big 10 championship, it will be in a year when the Rose Bowl hosts the national championship game, and we’ll end up stuck in a 2nd tier bowl game!

No, that's not correct. The Big Ten champion gets a BCS bid automatically, so if the Rose Bowl is the national championship site, then Minnesota (assuming they're not #1 or #2) would go to a different BCS bowl game.

Hey Sideshow...The oddsmakers haven't gotten this one right in any of the past seasons, so what makes you think they'll get it right this time ? :teeth: That stadium will be absolutely rocking on Saturday...I was at the last game, in '03 when VPI came in undefeated and ranked #3...and it was the second loudest game I've ever attended anywhere (loudest was when we played Miami in '93 with 70k+ in our 63k seat stadium...and yes, that includes games at MUCH larger stadiums in different places).

That game in '03 is now affectionately known as the game VPI came in ranked and when home spanked. :rotfl:

I'll be there Saturday (I think), and will be cheering on the Mountaineers to send the traitors to the ACC in style...with a nice beating to remember us by.

Since I know for a fact that I'm far from the only college football nut here on the boards, I thought maybe we could get a little healthy trash talk goin' from all the fans out there. :teeth:

So...Who's your favorite team...Who's your worst enemy....How badly are you going to beat them this weekend.....That sort of thing.

As for me...obviously, I'm a Mountaineer fan...Our worst enemies are Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Marshall (even though we don't play them 'till next year). As for how ugly it's going to be for Virginia Tech this weekend...well, this will be the 2nd out of three years that we've ruined their overblown national championship hopes, and I am REALLY looking forward to it!!!

The Hokies are going to embarass, humiliate and thoroughly horse-whip the 'Neers this weekend. Won't even be a close game. I heard the police are already making those psychos in WV take their furniture indoors...

Florida State is my favorite team. Our main rivals are Miami and UF.

And nobody is beating USC this year. That team ought to be playing on Sundays instead of Saturdays. They could probably give a handfull of NFL teams all they could handle. Just scary good.

The best college team would NEVER be able to beat the worst NFL team, since the players in the NFL are the best of the best. The guys in the NFL are way faster and way bigger. People used to say that about Miami, too, and then one day, they lost. USC's time is coming.

Hey...Just wondering...Does your quarterback have to register as a sex offender when he goes to away games ? :teeth: You must be SO proud. :rotfl:

Give me USC and you take the Texans or Cardinals, and I'll take my chances. :teeth: Seriously, I know you're probably right, but I've been a fan for an awful long time, and I don't recall ever being as impressed with an offense as I am with the current team at USC. Best QB in the nation. Most dangerous running back in the nation. Great offensive line. Talented receivers. GREAT system. If their defense doesn't let them down, I can't see anyone in college football touching them this year.

Probably another rarity here...University of Kansas Jayhawk fan. One might assume that Kansas State would be our biggest game but it's Missouri in most fan's minds. Fortunately, the Jayhawks are improving year by year and maybe, just maybe, this will be the year we beat Nebraska. Last time...1968. :confused3 As for trash talking, I hope not many KU fans even think about that during football season. Unless it's Missouri week. ;)

I would guess that screen name says it - Virginia Wahoos. 3-0 this year. Headed up to Maryland this weekend to take on the Terps! Our biggest rivals would have to be in Hokies of Virginia Tech in the annual battle for the commonwealth. FSU has not been too fond of us since 1995 when we became the first team in the ACC to beat them. Go Hoos Go!

Georgia grad here GO DAWGS! GATA!
Biggest rival is Florida plus whoever Spurrier is coaching :rotfl:

Also a very big fan of App State, where my son goes. Beautiful stadium, beautiful campus, great group of kids both on the field and off. Biggest rivals are Western Carolina and Furman.

well, duh. but we don't really have any true rivals because we own the entire state.

You just might get your wish this year. Have you seen any of the Sooners preseason games? Let's just say bwah hah ha ha (that's my evil laugh). The only thing better around here than when Oklahoma State wins is when the Sooners lose, and that's happening a lot this year. It's always entertaining to watch their "loyal fans" cut tail and hide. :rotfl:

No hiding here - I'm a proud Sooner fan, rain or shine. We've had a pretty good run of great seasons the past few years. No harm in having a rebuilding period. We have 7 National Championships - how many does OSU have? (talking football, kuddos to your other sports)

As for rivals - the big ones would be Texas, Nebraska & OSU ( just because of the in-state bragging rights ).

My cousin's husband is on the faculty at UT - poor guy. I think Texas might be due a win just so he can hold his head up at family gatherings.

As for OSU, I think Mike Gundy is a class act & I was glad to see him get the head coaching job.

Nebraska has been down the past couple of years - but they'll be back. The Big 12 has some great teams.

Boomer Sooner!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I doubt it. But we do put 14 year olds and liquor in the end zone to entice him to get there more often, which he seems to do! :teeth:

A little dangerous out there on the road though... :) Was in Blacksburg year before last... that was one the loudest, wildest game ever. HOPE to relive again this year... :)

wvrevy - do think could be closer game than lots think this weekend... I remember well what happened two years ago, so will be great interest in the game...

I don't watch much College Football, but because of my love for the Patriots, I have watched every Notre Dame game this season. I am rooting for them! :) :cheer2: :cheer2:

What I was referring to in my original post are those fair weather fans who claim to be loyal supporters (all schools have them) that talk trash year round and then remove every sign of being a loyal fan as soon as their team loses a game. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. My DH's office is filled with them. Anyone with half a brain could see this season would be different simply because of the players that OU lost after last season. I have been surprised to see just how different, though. I expected a little more from them, especially considering the all-powerful Stoops is in charge. Those fair weather fans have been talking smack since January and now are nowhere to be found. I find that amusing.

I'm quite aware of your 7 national championships. Sooners are constantly throwing that in the face of anyone who cares to listen. Thanks for the dig, though. You've illustrated yet another facet of the "Sooner Magic" with that one.

The Big 12 is a fantastic conference to watch, regardless of which team you're following. OSU's going to have to step it up quite a bit in order to compete. Should be an interesting season, and I'll enjoy seeing how far OU can climb out of the Big 12's cellar before it's overwith. :teeth:

I'm Cowboy born and Cowboy bred. I'd rather die than be sooner red! :teeth:
