*** The Official 2014 - DLR -July Thread ***(We All Have Been There & Back Home)

48 days here! I am SO excited! I think DH and I are more excited than the kiddos :goodvibes But I think once we hit 4th of July weekend they will be bouncing off the walls!

We got DD her sandals this weekend. Just the 2 boys yet. I am almost afraid to buy them too early, as they may out grow them, but if I wait too long all the good ones will be gone. ARGH! Teenagers, lol!

I'm heartbroken. I had new x-rays taken of my ankle, leg, and foot. I just got the call from my doctor that my ankle is broken and that I now have a referral into an orthopedic surgeon. No matter what I'm going to be in an aircast on our trip. Whether I have to be in a wheelchair is up to time and my doctor I guess. I am so upset.

We are doing the sleeper car for that length. Have been to Chicago a couple of time and just did coach. It was manageable but only 21 hours for that trip. I am looking forward to seeing part of the US that I've never really seen. We are flying home though since we will probably have a few more items to carry! Flying Southwest from John Wayne to Dallas Love.

We planned late, so ended up booking at the Clarion, arriving July 9 and leaving July 15. It has mixed reviews, but I am sure it will meet our needs. We don't have any dining plans other than eat when we feel like it! We do have a grayline tour booked for Saturday, the 12th. Going to LA/Hollywood and Santa Monica. We are also planning to do the Discover the Magic tour, probably on Friday. Really just playing it by ear this trip.

How exciting!!! I considered doing Amtrak from MO but we could fly for cheaper....and we are driving so that is even cheaper....We stayed at Clarion last time it was OK the curtains to our balcony were stained and in pretty bad shape and the knobs on the air condition were broken off and the bathroom was TINY there is an ART bus right out front and we got the free breakfast. It wasn't absolutely horrible but we def chose to stay else where this trip, we are staying at Park Vue Inn this time it is RIGHT across the street

I am answering my own question a few pages back about the Matterhorn Bobsleds. These are posts from the "First Space Mountain, Now the Matterhorn" thread.

It appears that the Matterhorn refurb originally scheduled for July has been delayed until the end of August.

:banana::banana::banana:

Here are the refurb schedule links from wdwinfo and touring plans:

This is the site I use, it's usually accurate. So maybe you'll be lucky?

I will be taking my kids DD 8 and DS 9 to the parks July 21 - 23. We may splurge for a 4th day in the parks on the day we check out. We will be staying at DI&S driving down from the Bay Area after work on Sunday. We have been to DL about 10 times now, and what is special about this trip is we will be seeing Fantasmic! for the very first time, and will be splurging for the dessert seating. I can hardly believe we have never seen it. I am a single Dad but will be taking my Mom along with us. She is a Disney freak like we are. Cheers

Orbitz has a special right now where you get a 4th day free when you buy 3 day park hoppers.

5. Are you and your Family celebrating a special occasion?

This is my birthday present from DH (who is wonderful but for whom one Disneyland trip a year is enough). Back before Christmas I proposed that the kids and I do a Disneyland road trip this summer after my birthday--and promised DH he wasn't obligated to come, since we also all go to Disneyland every October.

Hi Everyone! I'd like to join the group. DH and I are doing and adult only trip July 15 - 18. We are going to stay at the CCI. We are also going to get annual passes for the first time ever! We are going to go in Sept with the kids, so hopefully if tax returns are good next year, we can squeeze in another trip next year before the passes expire.

1. Where are you and your family traveling from?

Pueblo, Colorado

2. How long will your trip to Disneyland Resort take?

two hours to drive to DIA and the a 2 1/2 hour plane ride to SNA.

3. Is this your first trip to Disneyland Resort?

No. I went when I was 3 and 19 with my parents. Always wanted to come back, but never could. Then DH and I took the kids in 2010 and were hooked. This will be my 5th visit and plan on many more to come!

4. Who are you traveling / vacationing with this time?

Just me and DH

5. Are you and your family celebrating a special occasion?

Kinda. We are having our 10th wedding anniversary in Sept and planned an adult only trip Sept 23-28, but I felt too guilty about not taking the kids with us. So, we decided to bring them in Sept. But, DH and I still wanted to do something special just us for our anniversary, so we decided to come this summer for a short visit just us. So even though we will be in DL during our "official" wedding anniversary, we are going for some "us" time!

Hi Everyone! I'd like to join the group. We are a family of 4 and will be at DL from July 8 to 11th. This will be our first trip to DL, but we are Disney nuts and love WDW. I have been spending a lot of time researching with this forum. We are staying at BWPPI. We will be flying into SF and driving the PCH before our arrival. We are excited!

I'm sorry to hear that! You should definitely consider renting an ECV from an offsite company. It's cheaper to use an offsite company and you'll have it your entire time that way. We've rented for my mom and dad at WDW and my mom will need one this time as well. Push wheelchairs require a lot of manpower which can be exhausting for the pusher. Hope you're feeling much better by the time your trip gets here!

Bob, congratulations to Midori (and you)! She sounds like a lovely young woman.

WELCOME to the new July families!
