We're two middle-aged WDW veterans taking our 7yo granddaughter to Disneyland July 12-19. Staying at Hilton Anaheim. Last trip to DL was in 2003. Also doing San Diego Zoo, OC Beach Tour, and Angels baseball game.

45 days out. Really getting excited! Looking forward to reading this thread. :wave2:

Welcome to all of the new July folks!

Not too long now for us. I got my aircast today and have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on Monday (one month to go at that point). Hopefully he won't have any bad news. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll be in a boot and I'll just have to deal with it. Positivity from here on out.

I just stayed here last week:

After driving down from the bay area, we arrived around 2pm and were hoping to be able to check in early. We were able to and that was fantastic! We were also offered a room upgrade for an additional $20 a night, but declined since we would be spending little time in our room. It was nice to be given the choice of an upgrade though. The nice man checking us in told us he would give us a room away from the elevators. He wasn't kidding! It was a trek to the room but our room was very quiet, so it was totally worth it! We had a view of the convention center and could see part of CA Adventure as well. We had a king room and it was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. We were able to easily find a nice big parking spot too. We went to Starbucks in the lobby several times and also tried out the food court, both of which were great. We also had drinks one night in the bar, and that was also fantastic. I don't think there was a convention going on, but we were told 900 people were checking in that Friday, but I could never notice the hotel being crowded and we never had to wait long for an elevator. The walk to Disneyland was a little long, especially on the way back. We figure next time we will take a shuttle or a cab because we would have our children with us. Another thing that would have been nice in the room was a fridge, but since it was just my husband and I, we dealt fine without one. Overall we would stay here again.

It was a LONG walk and we walk a lot. Mornings were ok, but at night we were pretty tired. I think a cab, ART, or hopping on the Toy Story shuttle would be good to try when tired =) Have a great trip!

Thanks for the welcome! We definitely need to meet up. I told my wife, I'm a little nervous going to DL, since were not frequent guests. At WDW, I know what I'm doing. At DL, not so much.

I am also a bit nervous, this is our first trip.. we are very comfortable with WDW but it's time to get out of the box and venture out...

Happy Planning :goodvibes

1. Where are you and your Family traveling from?

Sydney, Australia by way of UCLA

2. How long will your trip to Disneyland Resort take?

1 and a half hours? However long it takes to get from Westwood to Anaheim by public transport!

3. Is this your first trip to Disneyland Resort?

Nope

4. Who are you traveling / vacationing with this time.

Me, myself and I

5. Are you and your Family celebrating a special occasion?

Nope!

I'm studying at UCLA for six weeks over the summer, so one of my free half-weeks is dedicated to Disney :D I get there late July 16th and leave on the 20th, so I'm there for Disneyland's birthday! I'm staying at PPI. If anyone has any tips for what to expect on Disneyland's birthday, please let me know!

I love that there are other people in the world who do this!

Anyone going to do the welcome to Disneyland tour? We are going to try it even though we aren't new to the resort. It's been a couple of years since we've been and a lot had changed in that time. It's a relatively cheap tour. I've heard mixed reviews in it, but decided to give it a try as we've done the walk in walts footsteps and my dh & ds did the happy haunts.

From what I've read, the tour takes you on some rides, can help you with dining reservations and you get a FP at the end of the tour, often Star Tours. One report said their guide got them bonus FPs for Indy as well.

Had anyone already done this tour and have feedback on it?

:rolleyes1: That will be me as well. I have their Disney bags out and have a few things in there that I know need to go. Lists of things to buy, to do, etc. I am driving my kiddos crazy. I think once they are done with school it they will be more excited.

DH and I will be at DLR to celebrate our 10th anniversary!! (We honeymooned at DL too!) We arrive on 7/16 and leave 7/19. First trip in a long time without kiddos so I am excited!

We just switched to the Grand Californian! So excited.
7/6 we'll have lunch at Ariel's
7/7 Big Thunder BBQ for lunch
7/8 Storyteller's breakfast.
Thinking we'll be hitting whitewater snacks for breakfast on 7/7.
Probably cs for dinners
