~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Soooo.....we might move our trip to Feb 2014!!!!!! I would love to knock almost 10 months off my countdown. :cool1: Still trying to decide if we can give up the Christmas lights. I can, but DH isnt sure. We would then go in Dec 2015. Of course, I would be secretly hoping to book a bounceback for Dec 2014, but DH doesnt need to know that. :rolleyes1
Also, I think we will do deluxe dining. Will still run the numbers, but DH agreed to do some TS breakfasts, even with characters. And I definitely want to do Hoop Dee Doo. DH wants Yak&Yeti and Tutto Italia for sure. I love that I am picking places to eat in 560 days. :goodvibes

Yay!!! What brought this about? That's only like 8 months away!!!

IT must be something in air up here - DH agreed to a Dec trip this year! Then he said we'll book "buy back" :rotfl: to go back for our trip next year. I'm still in shock! We found out my mom who we'd be traveling with receiving a free dining PIN for the end of this year so I talked to them about the savings (and dad didn't hesitatee at all about going - said he'd leave next week if he could so if I can get the numbers right we'll be going the first week in December :cheer2:

Yaaaaaay! December is pretty awesome :D Our favorite!

:woohoo: How'd you manage that? We need details! :yay:

Yay!!! What brought this about? That's only like 8 months away!!!

I have no idea how it happened!! We had talked about Feb 2015 originally and then moved it to Dec 2014. Then yesterday DH said maybe we should go in Feb and I said 2014 not 2015. He agreed that we wouldnt move it back. Nothing is ever definite with us though.

Yay!! Congrats on the FD pin!! :cool1: I am hoping to do this too (without the pin). If we can move the trip to Feb, we might as well go this December, right?? :rotfl: I have been trying to find a good time to suggest this. :goodvibes

I baaaaack! :wave2:

Decided to wait until our 2013 trip was completed before I did anymore planning for 2014!

Toured a few resorts while we were in Disney and have finally made up our minds!!

We won't stay off-site again! We spent more time getting lost than ever before! My hubby has always said, "I don't want to stay on-site", so that's what we've done. Couldn't tell you how many times we lost our way driving to and from the parks this trip.

Well...met up with an old college roommate of his (and his wife and young daughter) for a few days while we were both at Disney. They were staying on-site at AOA. And my hubby finally saw how convenient it is to stay on Disney property! (*DUH*) ;)

So he's agreed that it's worth the extra money for the convenience of on-site, but he insisted on a moderate. He didn't like any of the values we toured -- too large and too crowded -- and he doesn't want to pay the price of a deluxe.

Anyway...on to next year!

Port Orleans French Quarter -- May 3-10, 2014!!!

We fell in love with the POFQ! The decor was just lovely -- it was nice and compact and the staff was so friendly. It's a winner for us!

So now I just have to wait 348 more days until we return to Disney! :rotfl2:

Yay for on site!!! One of these trips I'm going to tack on a night in the beginning at stay at Port Orleans. It looks like such a pretty resort, and the themed rooms look like fun!

So many people that have gone to Disney....which is AWESOME!!! :teeth:

I'm planning my family's first Disney for May 2014 on the week of my mom's 40th b-day!!! Basically my family has never been to Disney but I know it'll be magical and epic and other words that can come to mind when you hear "Disney"!

Were still deciding on either the AoA Family suites or CSR.
Anyone here offer advice on which for two teens and two adults?? ;)

Ok so I spoke too soon. DH is totally against going this year. I understand his reasons, but I dont like them. :lmao: Feb still has potential, but we have a Gatlinburg trip tentatively planned for November this year and because of vacation time at the new job, I cant do both. And I was reading someone's Dec TR and I think I would miss the decorations. And we didnt see any holiday storytellers last year. I told DH he has until June 2nd (ADR day) to change his mind about going this year. :goodvibes So I will keep saving my pennies for 568 days.

So DD1 turns 11 in August--the penultimate year for a HP fan like her! So I convinced my Grumpy that we should take her to the WWoHP for her birthday! Gets me out of planning this monstrous HP party that she wanted:banana:

So we will start our vacation off at Universal Studios on August 10th and move to POFQ or POR August 13th-20th! Still deciding on the resort, but so happy to be going back!!! So happy to be back on the DISboards looking for tips and information and getting more and more excited!!! Just hoping that our 1st 3 days live up to the magic of the last 7 days! It will be our first time at Universal, but our 3rd at WDW.

 I LOVE WDW!!!

Love that idea!! What a perfect 11th birthday.
And love your screen name. Totally applies here too. ::yes::

I havent stayed at either one, but they are both on my list. Do you want a quieter, more adult resort or a Disneyfied, huge icons resort? AoA has cool pools but they dont have any slides, if that is important to you. Have fun planning!!

I haven't stayed at either resort... However AoA suites have 2 bathrooms.... Could be useful! http://allears.net/acc/g_artanimation.htm Here is allears review :)

Is there a Boo! smiley??

Yeah the AoA two bathrooms is really nice and maybe useful for three ladies that take forever to get ready ;) but don't we all! :teeth:

I've read and have seen many reviews and pics, used firstdisneytrip.net or something like that, allears this site and many others but still can't decide.

Look at it this way two teens we obviously would go for the more adult themed CSR to find more teens but my sis really wants to do the animation classes that are offered at AoA. My parents don't really care but my mom is towards more with CSR. Then again it all falls under what our perspective is over these hotels.

Btw off topic would BOG or CRP be better for a birthday dinner??

I dont know if it is the same thing, but there is an animation class at Hollywood Studios that your sister could do. A lot of people love it.

No worries. This was supposed to be the year of no vacations so we could pay down some debt, but I keep fighting it. I hate being a responsible adult!! :lmao: But we are going away for Memorial Day weekend and will probably go to Gatlinburg after Thanksgiving, so I am still getting in some fun. :goodvibes I will just live vicariously through your many trips. :thumbsup2

I hear ya, were finally better positioned with. It's a pain! We did many years with no vacations, with short more local based trips. It's smart, as long as you get away a little, vacations are important too. :)

I'm so excited! We just booked a September 2013 trip for me and DH. We were going to go away for a weekend which is a 4 hour drive in the fall, but when FD came out, well we talked about it, and are staying at the POP for 5 nights.

To say I am excited is an understatement. We now have 3 trips in the planning stages! 9/13 Mom & Dad only, 1/14 Mom & Dad, 2 kids (13 & 6), 12/14 All of us, Mom & Dad, 2 kids (14 &7), 2 college kids, 2 adult kids, and DIL, and DIL's family:thumbsup2

Our dates were originally in December 2014, but now...we're officially on for June 14-22, 2014 for my 25th birthday :D

*dances* SOMEONE COME DANCE WITH ME!

I am not going to be a very happy camper if what I heard is true at work. I work for an agency that provides preschool and early child education. teachers have Christmas break however the office staff, me included in that group, don't. I am fine with that. But today I heard from our secretary that everyone going to have to take vacations when breaks happen and you must use your vacation time. I have been planning on going to Disney in February and running the Princess half. I do not have enough vacation time to take 1 1/2 weeks off at Christmas and then take another 1 1/2 weeks off in Feb. In fact I have been taking days off without pay these last few snow days so I wouldn't have to burn my vacation time. Guess it yet another reason for me to start looking for a new job. :confused3:furious:

I hope, the secretary is wrong! That really stinks - can they actually tell you when you have to use your vacation days? That doesn't seem right :(
