~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

I think we finally have dates set! Nov. 28-Dec. 6 2014! My longest trip yet! I know those first couple of days after Thanksgiving are going to be packed, but everything I have read says the crowds are gone by Sunday or Monday.

Now we wait impatiently for 2014 package rates so we can start deciding where to stay!

That's when we are going too!! Unless we switch to February. :confused3

So does anyone know when Southwest will open up flights for January? I'm still not sold on what week to go.... Hoping airfare will help that choice!

Southwest will open up the rest of January on July 1....not sure about Jet Blue though. Hope that helps!!

Thanks! I saw that somewhere - I was kinda bummed because it opens up after my 7 month window. :) (I would have chose based on the least expensive time to fly) so we will just wing it!

Speaking of 7 month window.... About 2 weeks away from it! Yay!!

Just bought plane tickets! I've been waiting to post as it's not really final for me until we lay out some cash :) Our dates are Jan 4-11, coming at the end of a two week East Coast Christmas/New Years trip. We're staying in a vacation rental as we'll have my inlaws will be joining us for a few days but not going to WDW, a day of Universal, and a day of private pool rest :) AND, most exciting part, we're celebrating my mom's 5 year cancer remission!! Our very first trip to WDW was Dec 2008 for her 50 birthday/successful stem cell transplant. I planned a secret trip for the (then) 5 of us, paid for everything in advance and researched/reserved the best plans for our family so that when we went, it was totally relaxed. They were absolutely surprised. This time, we're enjoying planning together and getting excited to see new things!

Would you be so kind as to add us to the list?

Many thanks! :)

July 15th-28th, 2014.

Do we have a board for July 2014.

:welcome: I'll get you added to the July list - where are you staying? As far as a July '14 thread, I have no idea if one has been started yet or not, but you're welcome to stay and chat with us all here. :goodvibes

I baaaaack! :wave2:

Decided to wait until our 2013 trip was completed before I did anymore planning for 2014!

Toured a few resorts while we were in Disney and have finally made up our minds!!

We won't stay off-site again! We spent more time getting lost than ever before! My hubby has always said, "I don't want to stay on-site", so that's what we've done. Couldn't tell you how many times we lost our way driving to and from the parks this trip.

Well...met up with an old college roommate of his (and his wife and young daughter) for a few days while we were both at Disney. They were staying on-site at AOA. And my hubby finally saw how convenient it is to stay on Disney property! (*DUH*) ;)

So he's agreed that it's worth the extra money for the convenience of on-site, but he insisted on a moderate. He didn't like any of the values we toured -- too large and too crowded -- and he doesn't want to pay the price of a deluxe.

Anyway...on to next year!

Port Orleans French Quarter -- May 3-10, 2014!!!

We fell in love with the POFQ! The decor was just lovely -- it was nice and compact and the staff was so friendly. It's a winner for us!

So now I just have to wait 348 more days until we return to Disney! :rotfl2:

:woohoo: I'll get you moved from the August list to May and switch you from offsite to onsite! :yay:

So many people that have gone to Disney....which is AWESOME!!! :teeth:

I'm planning my family's first Disney for May 2014 on the week of my mom's 40th b-day!!! Basically my family has never been to Disney but I know it'll be magical and epic and other words that can come to mind when you hear "Disney"!

Were still deciding on either the AoA Family suites or CSR.
Anyone here offer advice on which for two teens and two adults?? ;)

:welcome: to the group! What dates are you planning on for May?

Our dates were originally in December 2014, but now...we're officially on for June 14-22, 2014 for my 25th birthday :D

*dances* SOMEONE COME DANCE WITH ME!

:dancer: I'll get you added to the list for June! Where are you staying?

Tentatively planning October 2014 and staying at the Contemporary.

To all those who are new, if you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. Meanwhile, we'd love to get to know you, so feel free to jump in and join the conversation! :hyper2:

Okay gang, I've updated the monthly lists on Page 1. :teeth: I think I got everyone who was new or had changes. If I missed you, my apologies ... post again with your info and I'll add/change as needed. :goodvibes

Animal Kingdom Lodge :hyper:

I am so excited for this trip. My friends are sick of hearing about it all ready. Frankly, some just see the point.

 I quit talking about my WDW trips outside of this board a while ago - nobody quite gets it like the people here do! :teeth:

Or, you get the complete opposite reaction, and all of a sudden, you become the "Disney Expert" at work. Which on the surface might seem cool. But when people are pumping you for info, opinions, etc..., at (ahem) inconvenient times, it can be a bit overwhelming.

:scared1: If you mean what I think you mean by inconvenient, yeah, that would be bad! :rotfl:

I also just loooove when people ask for my advice, I give it, they don't follow it, then come back and complain what a terrible time they had. :sad2:

I do bask in those moments.

Actual conversations I've had.

You should really make some meal reservations before your trip.
"It will be July. The restaurants will be empty"

If you're bringing new shoes, you're gonna want to break them in.
"Why? The bus takes you everywhere, and then you're just sitting on rides"

If you want to control your spending, you may want to get Disney gift cards and avoid using the plastic.
"I can handle my spending" (this person came to me after the trip and said "You were SOOOOOOOOOOOOO right." I didn't even want to know what the tab was.)

What a fantastic thread! So full of info!

The family and I are planning our first ever spring break vacation to Disney - our dates are March 22-29th (roughly). We don't have a place to stay picked out as of yet - trying to decide if we want offsite or onsite, dining plan or not, etc. A little nervous to go at this time of year as the last two trips to WDW were in October and crowds were very manageable. I will update when more becomes finalized over the summer.

Is there any facebook group started? Was just wondering because I know I have been on them for different months but never a year one.

Ah, that's me too! I've started choosing the things I tell my husband to avoid the teasing :) If he knew how much research and planning I do I'd never hear the end of it... He does know that planning is a huge part of the fun for me though, so he's happy it makes me happy. And, He's EXTRA happy when I can show him in numbers $ I've saved us by doing advanced planning :) I also scour the details here, then present my fam with a few choice options I think they'd enjoy as I know the million details of a WDW trip would knock them over! To each their own, eh?

:lmao:

I had someone complain to me about the restaurants, too. My only response? "I tried to tell you ..." :rolleyes1

Yes, there is a WDW in 2014 FB group started - you can find info for that in Post #2 of this thread. :teeth:
