~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

My brother and his family stayed in POR last year with 5. The only section that holds 5 is AB, the more rural, rustic looking part of POR. They thought it was crowded, but they had two teenage girls as part of the 5. They basically said never again with five in one room/one bathroom. YMMV.

Thanks for the input...I looked at pics ~ the resort is so pretty, but the rooms just don't do anything for me, blah! I have a feeling we would feel pretty cramped.

I love POR, but the AB section doesn't do anything for me. I would want to stay in one of the mansion buildings for sure if we ever stay there.

Have any other ideas?

Hey everyone! We are headed to Disney in May but are already planning our next trip for October 20th-27th 2014! We will be celebrating our daughters 5th birthday so this is an extra special trip for us! I think already having another trip planned will make leaving in May so much easier. Not sure where we will be staying yet.

Hi, and :welcome: to the group! :goodvibes I'll get you added to the list as resort TBD. Once you figure out where you're staying, make sure you post so I can update.

Not really...still thinking of off-site. I also want to look at YC/BC. We have also thought about a cabin at Ft. Wilderness, but my DH is too tall for a full size bed! I think my problem is we are staying off site this summer (but not doind WDW) and I am seeing how much space we are getting for the price of a value resort! But, the more I think about it, the more I am 99% sure I want us to be on-site for our Disney trip. I would really love to stay at WL again, but we can't in a regular room since our youngest will more than likely be 3 by the time we go.

How much fun to celebrate a birthday at WDW! I'm sure it will be magical!

So I have only ever stayed at POP or POFQ. The convenience of the buses couldn't be beat being there by myself with a stroller and a toddler.

However, there's a part of me which would like somewhere new. Any ideas or suggestions? It would be me and my 2 DDs who will be 6 1/2 and almost 3 1/2 at time of trip. I will probably have a lightweight stroller and I am not a pack mule so I won't be bogged down. (If we weren't going in August I probably wouldn't even take the stroller to be honest.)

Thoughts?? :goodvibes

That's a tough call. So few places on WDW property actually allow for 5 people, where offsite there are tons of choices. :scratchin Are you still looking at SVR, SVV, WBC, WH or have you found somewhere else?

Quick update on me:

I ended up removing the ticker from my sig this weekend because things are so undecided right now on what we're doing. My husband wants me to look into a cruise again. :sad2: I'm leaving my dates on the list because if we do go to WDW, it will be those dates.

Every time I think I have things figured out, he changes things. I'd like to be decided soon so I can settle down and quit worrying about it all! :faint:

Can you tell him he has been out voted by the members of your roll call?

 I wish! I've been using everything I can possibly think of, including the Disney Visa points expiration, to try and get him to make up his mind.

I was trying to think of what's most important during my initial post, but was stumped. :rotfl2:

Let me see, not having to a super long walk to the bus stops would probably be the most important. Being that it will be just me and the girls, I plan a super leisurely pace. Plan on only getting 6 day non-hopper tickets so we can spend time at the resort so a good, fun pool for them would be great.

I have over a year to save, but I'm looking to spend no more than $3000-$3500 (TOTAL).

That's all I have for right now. lol

Oh, if anyone has any experience with Coronado Springs, Wilderness Lodge or POR I would appreciate it as those are on my list also.

Thanks!

Well, for not having a super long walk to anywhere you just can't beat POFQ. They also have the fun pool, and you can use all the amenities over at POR if your girls get bored with the pool at FQ. Add in the boat service to DTD ...

I see you're also interested in POR and CSR. Both of those resorts are so huge, unless you plan to book preferred, it can be a really long walk to the bus stop or food court.

I know very little about WL so I'll let someone else chime in on that.

This is exactly why I haven't ventured outside of POFQ. We have never taken a walk over to POR but on a down day, it's something I can factor into our trip. There's rarely a discount at POFQ but I can get AAA rate for a few bucks off.

I have had really good luck with rooms at POP also without having to pay for preferred. So much to think about. ;)

I'm sure I will change my mind a million more times before I book. :lmao:

Oh you have to walk over to POR if you end up staying at POFQ! It is beautiful over there - the landscaping and mansion buildings are gorgeous.

I really liked POP also, fun laid back atmosphere, good food court, etc.

I guess I wasn't much help, was I? :p

Seconded :wave2:

We are huge POR fans. Love the landscaping and architecture. The main pool is designed for fun. And the quiet pools are more serene. And Boatwright's has amazing food.

Also, you might not even have to walk over. If you time it right, you can take the DTD (aka Disney Springs :crazy2: ) water cab back and forth.

I know! It is very frustrating. I totally understand why, but when you are actually in the situation, it stinks. Especially when our youngest will have just turned 3...like if we go a month earlier we could stay in any resort of our choice. Oh, well!! I am still looling at WBC and the other off-site options. Actually, this summer we are staying at a place, and I can't believe I have forgotten the name! But if we love it, and it's close enough, we might stay there again. I'm going to try to just forget the "where" of our WDW trip until after this summer b/c then we will at least know if we will be happy off site during a Disney trip.

I have 3 girls ~ I think if I could, I would love to stay in a Little Mermaid room at AoA. Never stayed there ~ so I can't tell you about it but they look cute!! Not sure how much it will be, but we have stayed at WL. We loved it!! I am actually sad that we won't be able to stay there again (since we are now a family of 5 and can't fit in a standard room). I love that everything is in one building! The beach area is fun, you can watch the EWP and there is also a playground on the beach. My oldest loved the pool slide. The boat ride over to MK is nice too. If I can answer anything else specifically I'll be happy to!
