The Official 2013 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Thread

I believe spectators could watch from there. If they do not have a vehicle, I think it would be better to watch from behind Boardwalk, Yacht Club or Beach Club. They would be much closer to enter the party if that is the plan or head to the front of the resort to catch a cab.

I agree with this. If I recall correctly, the exit of hollywood studios was fairly dark, and we run basically from the left side (if you are facing out of the park) over to the "right" where the walkway is beside the parking lot. It's kinda messy. Then we're on the narrow path to the boardwalk. There were a few people along there in the grass and that was nice, but I personally would really appreciate people outside of the Beach Club or Yacht Club. That was a tough area (so close yet so tired), and it would be great to have a funny sign, or just some cheering people. It was much less crowded than I would have thought.

Is it possible for spectators to watch as we come out of Hollywood Studios?

I would not suggest the DHS. Please advise spectators from walking to and from the park along the Boardwalk sidewalk. That is the course and the stretch from the DHS bus stop area through BWV is always crowded. Extra folks would make it even more so.

I cannot comment on whether one could actually park in the lot after hours, I would not think it wise. It's private property and I see signs every day where security is so much tighter than it was just 8 months ago.

One thing folks will run into at the Epcot resort parking lots is a hard close for guests not staying at the resort on Friday through Sunday due to the Food and Wine event. I can usually talk my way into the lot if there well before noon, but around noon and with the W&D happening, I would expect non guests would be turned at the 5 resorts. The option would be for those willing to cough up $15 for valet parking.

For those who decide to party all night (at least to 4), I would suggest heading to the MarketPlace in Beach for a breakfast. My DW CM will be training for her first open at 0600 on Sunday of that week. Marketplace opens at 0700.

When it rains it pours...*SIGH* I work with special needs kids, and one of them, a man sized child, was a bit upset today. In the process of trying to get him to a safe place to be upset he threw an elbow which caught me in the face and knocked my back tooth loose. It was a very poorly done root canal which BROKE. Now I have a wiggly piece of tooth stuck and I have to go to the dentist for an emergency visit.

I guess I can be glad that it wasn't a broken leg, just a broken tooth.

I'll think about Disney while I'm in the chair trying not to have hysterics.

:thumbsup2

I wonder how many CM's at Marketplace will be asked "Are you Coach's DW?" on Sunday morning!!! :-)

It must be contagious! ::yes:: Did my 10 miler on Sunday and felt great! :cool1: Did a 4 miler on Tuesday with no energy, no rhythm, and where the he** did these side stitches come from??!! :confused3 :confused3 That being said, yesterday's 4 miler felt so good that once I had warmed up, I went with a few Yasso 800's. Mr. Side Stitch showed up again, but once I got some water in me, it went away. :thumbsup2

Fun stuff: the DH has an office in a nearby elementary school and got the art teacher to have the kids make us up a W.I.S.H. banner for the picture. I sent him the logo so I can't wait to see what they come up with! :hyper:

No idea what's up with that BUT remember.....this is all about HAVING FUN! :thumbsup2 If you have to jog, walk, or even limp for a while, don't sweat it! You'll have plenty of fellow WISH'ers around you to help! :cool1:

Like everyone else, you lost me on most the medical stuff but WHOOP! WHOOP! on being able to run. Does that mean that you're actually GOING to though??? :confused3

Since it looks like a Friday afternoon meetup is going to be too crazy with alot of peeps just getting in, I for one am SO looking forward to meeting everyone Saturday night! :yay: :woohoo: So until then, keep yourself calm, take it easy on your training, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, and (to be super redundant :faint:), REMEMBER IT'S ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN!!!

And to get our weekend started off right....

[ :cool1:  :woohoo: 6 days, 15 hours, and 17 minutes until Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend officially kicks off!!! :jumping1::rockband:party::dogdance:

Hi Pluto- so crazy u had side stitches too. I hope my run tonight goes better. I am still trying to get up the energy to go. Thank goodness I roped DH into taking DS to school next week so I can start sleeping in and rearranging my body's rhythms! Thanks for the countdown!

Edit: I had to come back and edit this because only my wine and dine peeps would laugh too. I just finished my treadmill run for tonight and I ran it in a half darkened basement bc the lightbulb by the treadmill was burnt out. I pretended it was just "night race training". Lol!

That's awesome! Good luck to her!

YOU GUYS! I am getting so excited! I have to get up early early to run my last long run tomorrow (maybe 8/9 miles?), and I'm so happy to be "tapering." Of course, I'm taking about a month off after W&D, so I'm pretty stoked about just hanging out at Disney without the pressure of fitting in my running.

I'm just ready to runDisney again!!!! And that medal....ooooooo, I can't wait!

Good luck everyone with the race. My sister and I are heading down on Thursday. Hope to be able to run on Sat. I have been dealing with bursitis in my hip and it has killed my running for the past month. I am not sure how to deal with it, been doing all the PT exercises but it is not getting much better. Sad thing is I am also in the middle of training for the Dopey. Hopefully I can figure something out. Has anyone else had hip bursitis issues and come out ok without taking too much time off?

I ran princess,my first half, with hip bursitis. After princess,I had to take a complete month off from most cardio,I ended up with hip bursitis in both hips. I am pain free, but must do my stretches and strengthening exercises daily, along with rolling.
Although,I'll be doing wine and dine with plantar fasciitis now, haven't been able to run in a few weeks. Disney races must hate me!

Woot! Just got dh's schedule and he will be able to do the race with me!! Well he will start it not sure if he will make it or get swept but we are both excited, kind or rolling th dice when he registered not knowing if he could go :). Now I'm off to see if I can score us some Mickey Christmas party tickets for Friday the 8th....we were planning on going the 11 but he can't make it that day :(

That's the attitude! :thumbsup2 Sorry about the tooth though. Ouch!

Good luck to everyone who is just about there. Enjoy the last weekend of running! For those that are having issues, quick healing pixie dust is on the way! pixiedust:

I haven't run since that weird pain Wednesday. I think I'm going to give it shot on Monday just to see how it goes. I can't tell if the pain is still there unless I actually run so that will be my test. Crossing my fingers it's magically gone. ;)

Dental visit done! Only minor panic attack required. I have to go back, but AFTER my trip to Disney. :cool1:

The weather for race day looks better too!! It's a bit far out to tell but it's nice to see 0% chance of rain for November 9th!!

Getting excited now that the evil dentist visit is over!!!:hyper:

Easy 6 miles done, probably going to run 3-5 on Monday or Tuesday and then it's smooth sailing to the 5k and W&D! I leave Tuesday so it's time to start packing...

We also leave on Tuesday!! So so so excited!! My knee has been giving me fits and my PT told me to rest it until tomorrow. I'll probably do a 5K to see how I'm doing and then get a couple of runs in before the half on Saturday. I am so darn excited!!!:goodvibes

That's great! How fun!

I woke up w a scratchy throat! Ack!!!! Time to chug some OJ and try to take a nap... Packing will have to wait.

Ran 5K this morning with a buddy. There was lots of talking so there was also some walking. :rotfl:

This time next week, hopefully I'll be mid-day napping and dreaming dreams of the finish line and post-race food!!!

We are packed and ready to go. leaving tonight. Not looking forward to an overnight trip. I do not sleep well on a plane.
1 week to the race!:cool1:
Safe travels to everyone.

And a week from now it will all be over and we will all be wearing some Disney bling! :cheer2:

I remember earlier in thread someone equated training for the half marathon to pregnancy. Well I am in the nesting stage, lol!! After a long day yesterday I decided it was time to wash baseboards, walls, appliances and floors. Clean out the fridge, change sheets , do laundry and decorate the house for fall/thanksgiving. It must be nervous energy :)

I have two runs left!! ( if I can put the mop down long enough to go for a run )

6 days!!!

Courage, determination and passion...

Just spent the last hour fiddling with my playlist. Here are the lyrics to the song I hope to finish with- its from the new movie planes (DS's new favorite) and I find it completely inspiring so I wanted to share:

Nothing can stop me now

Feel the passion ignite me
Feel it burnin inside me
I Won't let this life
Just pass me by

Gonna start a revolution
Go by the name hero
Take back control
Yeah here I Go!

Today I gotta make a change
Straight to the top I'm on my way
Cause I was meant for so much more
And i found a dream worth fighting for
And nothing can stop me
Nothing can stop me now

All I need is the horizon
Courage to keep trying
Awakened
I feel so alive

Today I gotta make a change
Straight to the top I'm on my way
Cause I was meant for so much more
And i found a dream worth fighting for
And nothing can stop me
Nothing can stop me now
