~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

I now see room discounts Aug 16 t0 Oct 3rd. Any chance of them adding more room discounts for later in October? We didn't catch the free dining (coming Oct 19th) so was crossing my fingers for room discount. Hits our resort and suite but not date. :sad2:

Highly likely. :thumbsup2 It will probably be late July before we hear anything, though. We check in on Oct. 17. :goodvibes

Anyone know what discounts were offered at what resorts during October last year?

I want to book CBR but won't do it unless I get a discount code.

Fingers crossed . You're very close to us. Guess nothing to lose if not, but extra bonus if they did add more date. AT the very least, if no free dining and no room discounts...then smaller crowds???

asmit4, I found this link with last years dates

- go to examiner.com
- search on "room discounts for fall 2013"

It brings up free dining and room discounts

I check in on 10/17 too, for 13 nights. Do you think if they extend the room discount dates to include our stays it will be better than the current Orbitz 15%off?

Can you tell me how you get 15% on orbitz? I never even thought of booking through non-disney channels (duh!) but when I look at my 10/12-10/19 dates at Pop, my price quote is $121, $4 more per night than my current non-discounted reservation. Maybe it's the different week vs yours, or maybe the $121 rate is a discount compared to .regular" or "peak" season?

There's a current promo code. It's gethappy.

Someone is watching me! I swear I looked 30 min ago, saw a quote for my dates of $121, then asked my question about a discount code. I went back to orbitz, base rate listed is $137! apply the 15% discount and I get (drumroll. . . . ) the exact $117/night rate I currently Booked thru Disney. I guess in the same way travel agents don't have secret discounts (just lots of helpful service ) maybe the travel sites don't get you any different than direct thru disney either

That's weird because when I do it I get over $400 off. When you use Orbitz you have to just select 2 adults in your room. No children. As they charge for kids as if they were extra adults. Then you need to call Orbitz after booking and they add the children for free. I found that out by reading a few threads on here. If you think that affects you run the numbers again with just 2 adults in the room.

You're exactly right! It was the kids on the room. When I removed them, the price went to 117 (disney's current rate) and the code brought it down. Odd that the amount for having the kids on there almost exactly equalled the discount amount.

Thanks so much for the tips and answering my questions!

But if you book through Orbitz, do you still get a confirmation code that you can use in MDE? What are the drawbacks of not using Disney for your plans?

I would love to pay something lower than rack rate for every trip I have taken.

With Orbitz you still get a confirmation number which links to MDE and you can still use Magical Express. Same cancellation terms as Disney room only, fully refundable up until a few days before. The drawback is, you have to pay up front.

We are booked 10/1 - 10/10 at CBR. I really wanted CSR but there weren't any standard rooms available :( I wonder if it's worth it to check every day?

Booked yesterday on a FD Pin. Got two rooms at POR for eight nights starting 10/3 through 10/11, five adults, three children (one of which is a Disney adult) with a 5 day base ticket for $6900.

congrats to you! Major pixie dust on that POR with FD! When did you get your PIN Email/mailing and did it have date restrictions? Keeping my fingers triple crossed for SOMETHING during my OCT vacation, but I notice your dates (although not POR) would have qualified for public FD promotion.

Half of me is starting to feel like I need to let go of the hope that I can keep my Yacht Club reservation for 10/18-10/25. This whole PIN/ro/fd circus is exhausting. I think I need to pull the trigger and cancel my YC ressie and focus on and get excited to stay at the Dolphin (which I do love) and stop worrying/obsessing over these discounts.

Both YC and BC are still booked solid for the week. I don't think the GV rooms will be eligible and it will be 30% off if at all.

I really can't sit in limbo until August as I have $$ tied up in my YC ressie that I could use to get my park tickets. I don't know what to do :(

Why do you have a reservation at YC if without a discount if you won't stay there without a discount?:confused3

I would cancel and book the Dolphin. Then if FD opens up at YC, or a good RO comes out or you get a PIN then you can book YC.

We're doing a short October trip. Coming down for Tower of Terror 10 Miler weekend. We'll arrive Oct 3, Check out Oct 6. 2 Rooms at Pop with free dining.
