The not so obvious tips

I have never heard of this- I sleep with a fan on every night as white noise... Where do you get one? How much are they ? I wonder if they have them here in Australia hmmm:angel:

You can also try tuning a radio to an empty channel. The static noise can act in the same manner as a white noise machine.

We've used them ever since my second baby was born-- the older siblings just never quite got the "shh, the baby is napping" thing, but the white noise machine masked outside noises in the baby's room and they slept very well! Then they got used to it, and we ran it until they were 4-6 years old. When we traveled, it was a familiar noise in the hotel room that helped them relax and fall asleep in unfamiliar surroundings. Youngest is 6, oldest is 13, but we still take one with us. Like PP said, helps with noisy neighbors, etc.

You can generally find them at drugstores, Target, Walmart, etc. in the "personal care" section with stuff like shavers, humidifiers, etc. You can google them to find a good deal. Often baby care websites carry them. They usually have 6 or more "nature sounds" on them like waves, rain, etc.
