The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Well, I just realized he didn't poop today. So I might hold off on the cottage cheese until I see poop and can make sure there is no blood.

Patsy- They give the shots really high up on the thigh, and its swollen in the middle. I can't tell if the injection sites are swollen bc i can't get passed the swollen fatty spot in the middle. Just the skin. He never reacted to the other shots so im thinking its either the Seasonal Flu or H1N1.

I can't offer much help, but I can def. relate. Isabelle did fine with all of her shots until she got her 6 month round of shots (and that was the normal shots, no flu or H1N1), and those were very rough on her. She was a different child. Our ped. told us that sometimes they don't react for the first few rounds, but after some of it has been built up in their system, then they react around the 3rd or 4th round of the same shots. :confused3

For baby's first professioanl pictures should I plan on having poses in mind or will the photographer have alot of good ideas?

Where should I go to get the pictures taken?
I went to our Babies R Us yesturday to schedule an appointment and the portrait studio there closed in January.

If you have any favorite pictures that were taken of your little one let me see so I can tell the photographer to try and get that shot for our little one.

Any props you recommend that we bring with us?

How dare you post something that goes against the tenor of a thread?

I especially thought that it was funny when they demanded that you offer proof. I guess that it saved them from firing up google.

I should have linked them with Let Me Google That For You. :thumbsup2
I'm sure no one read the proof I supplied either.

Hm. I read through it, but I'm so not diving into the middle of that! :rotfl:
I sorta feel the opposite way, though I'm not really 100% either way. My thoughts/feelings towards uniforms are based off of attenting a school full of people with money.

:thumbsup2 Like I said in the thread, I really don't care all that much. DH is much more interested in the topic since he is a teacher and the Art teacher at that, which is all about expressing yourself.

Any place worth $10 will have plenty of props and ideas. Just about all of them do the hand holding thing.
Here's mine:

I particularly like the naked baby shots the best:

With the hand holding thing, you might want to get your nails done. And make sure you don't have a watch on or anything. I had my watch on, but luckily thought to take it off, the photographer didn't mention it.

Lily's next shoot will be full of tutus and fairy wings. I just bought some stuff.

So I took the twins for their synagis (RSV) shots yesterday. Katie weighs 15 lbs 6.5 oz & Dylan weighs 19 lbs 6.5 oz. I was planning on carseat shopping anyway but Dylan's weight hurried me along. :) Their SnugRides are only good to 22 lbs.

So BRU had coupons as well as a Graco sale. I was eyeing the MyRide 65 anyway, so it seemed like a good time. I also still had a $100 gift card from the babies' birth & a merch credit of $39. So all told I got 2 $159 carseats for a total of $128 & change out of pocket (after using the merch credit & GC.) :thumbsup2

Poop expert waying in here. I was told constipation can often times be the first sign of an allergy! I dont think Lucas is allergic- but just thought id let you know ;o). Maybe its the milk !? I hope he poops soon! My life revolves around poop. You never realize how important that 4 letter word is until you have children!

Thanks so much for telling me that. I was worried. He slept well last night (im hoping not to jinx it)-- but the night before last was terrible!

Awesome! Those things are expensive so it's always nice to save some money.

ArielRae, take whatever you want. If you don't like a picture with a prop, you don't have to buy it. Take something that is important to you or take nothing (as the whole point is the baby, anyway)...

Thanks! There was poop this morning, no blood.
Wow, I feel wrong that I'm this excited about poop. :lmao:

I think I've finally beaten this cold! I can taste today! I'm so excited.

DD doesn't poop everday - only once or twice a week. Is that because of the breastmilk? She has definitely increased her solid intake recently so I thought her poop would increase as well, but not really.

I'll definitely talk to the pedi at the next appointment.

I was so happy to get Lily out of the carrier car seat. It was soo heavy with a 19 pound 6 mo old. She loves her carseat now. (Except when I'm in a hurry and jam her leg in it. Bad mama :sad2:)

Did they have any good deals on strollers? i need to pick up a lighter umbrella stroller for WDW. I know everyone loves their Maclaren's but they are so expensive for what they are. KWIM?

DH wanted some glass baby bottles so we bought the evenflo 4oz bottles.
I am finding that they don't vent easily. I don't see any bubbles in the bottle. I have to have the cap almost not on at all for it to bubble/vent. I even lossened it so much that it started dripping from the cap so I had to slightly tighten it. Does anyone have any advice to help get these bottles to vent? Do I need to buy a different nipple to put on it then the ones that came with it? DH said it took DS 45 min to finish a bottle when it usually takes him 20 min with the medela bottle and nipples. :confused3

Here is a pic of the bottles

I don't know anything about venting a bottle. Sorry. And we don't do glass.

Honestly, I don't think that the two positions are mutually exclusive. Based solely on my high school experiences, I feel that uniforms are the way to go. However, your post made me recognize that this would require that additional ways to express oneself should be provided for the child.

We have bought Sarah half a dozen of the cutest princess dresses for our cruise. Now we're just crossing our fingers hoping that they will be the correct size when the trip rolls around.

When we began bottle feeding, everyone told us to make sure that we used the slow flow nipples. We struggled with them briefly. Sarah. Hated. Them. Most of the time, she would simply refuse to drink from them at all. When she did drink from them, she did it grudgingly and feeding took forever.

We tried out several different bottle/nipple combinations and ended up with playtex drop-ins and fast flow latex nipples. She loves them and feeding only takes 10-15 minutes. She dribbles some, but that's what bibs are for.

Honestly, I wish we would have had uniforms. It would have saved me a lot of embarassment as a child since my mom mainly shopped at thrift stores. I was surprised that no one brought up encouraging individuality in clothing choice outside of school. That's enough for me! :thumbsup2

Lily has 2 tinkerbell's and a Sleeping Beauty. Neither would fit her super chubs right now:lovestruc, but I'm hoping she'll slim down when she starts crawling. I plan on buying a bunch after Halloween for our December trip. I might try ebay for a holiday Belle costume.

Aren't girls fun? :goodvibes

LOL, so true. Just FYI I've been all over miami looking for the bioGaia drops. One pharmacy (Walgreens) said they'd order it for me and brought some generic stuff, so we passed. Went into a CVS today, and they ordered it for me, hopefully they bring in the right stuff. I found this website: http://www.childrensprobiotics.com/pdf/printtake.pdf so I asked what company they use, and the lady took the number down for the one they use, I'm hoping! I really want to start them since isabel is so gassy and sometimes she cries when she passes gas, I feel badly. We use the little tummy's/mylicon, but they don't do too much (although she LOVES taking them).

I've heard BF babies don't poop as often, my DD is the exception, she goes 2-4 times a day! I'd tell her pedi just to be sure, but we've been told it is normal.

We have some of tese: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3543395&CAWELAID=391463792 they are glass and vent well. I got them for free, but I would buy them We use them and the ventAir Playtex bottles, with slow flow nipples - you should use slow flow if you are breastfeeding - the feeding should not be too easy or he could reject the breast. Medela also makes glass bottles, I've seen them at babiesRUs.

Adi- Glad you are giving them a shot. I hope they work as well for her as they do for Jake. He no longer has any painful gas! He still has gas, the probiotic just helps him clear it from the gut more efficiently! Let me know how they work for her!

Totally normal for breastfed babies.

I would LOVE to get a Maclaren. I have been eyeballing the twin techno.. They are really sturdy, and high handles.. But the seats are kind of shallow for my beasts. I have had a ton of strollers.. We had a combi with my dd, It was a decent price, folded up small, tall enough.. But Kaylee broke it at Disneyland when she was two. It wasnt sturdy enough, and it just got kind of warped and the wheels broke. For me, I need an umbrella stroller that holds a really high weight. The Maclaren fits the bill. I was looking at the City Mini.. but it doesnt fold up very small. Stroller issues really stress me out! :lmao:

I kind of wish the babies were still in the carriers... The babies are heavy, and wiggly!! They are a pain in the butt getting in and out of the house, car, grocery store.. Whatever.. when I am alone. It was much easier when they were in the carriers. I have started using my sling to get them around when I have to carry both of them. Helps out TONS!!

I really wish I would have used the carrier more. She's already verging on too heavy. Perfect timing as the weather is finally breaking.

I didn't even really look at teh strollers to be honest. But to put in a plug for the Maclarens, I got one for my older DS about 4 years ago, just before our first WDW trip & we used it for years. It's still in the garage. Held up to a lot of abuse it was our primary stroller from the time we got it as well as a bunch of WDW trips. I'm contemplating a Maclaren twin even though I have a BJ City Classic Double. The BJ just seems to big & the Macs fold so small, but my DH would kill me.

If you are in no hurry I know you can score lightly used Maclarens on craigslist, you just need to be patient, and picky. When I got mine it was at BRU, but was a return w/ no box -- so deeply discounted. Don't forget to check your stores clearance area.
